Service was friendly and efficient. We missed the lunch buffet, so we ordered off the menu. Our food was out promptly and was great. Standard fare done right. Interesting eclectic cafe/diner decor. Friendly, efficient service. Hmmm now to start on the food. My husband's club sandwich was perfectly made and delicious. His potato salad was good and had a slightly different taste to make it unique. My chicken fried steak had wonderful mashed potatoes and white gravy. The salad was truly "home cooking because it was mixed green salad like I buy in the sack. It had fresh tomatoes and cucumbers mixed in. The ranch dressing was good. The steak, while good, was a pre-formed ,pre-breaded, uniform patty purchased from one of the restaurant food suppliers. Again, it was very good, just not a true steak. The restrooms need major, serious cleaning. We would not hesitate to eat here again, but will stick to the sandwich menu. read more

What a perfect little hometown cafe!! The chicken fried steak is made exactly the way we expect it should be done in Texas!! The breakfast burrito is huge but order it with a topping like cheese. I'm not sure where to start... the restaurant itself isn't bad. Nice atmosphere the booths aren't very comfy so pick a table. The food is my biggest problem. It tastes good but the prices are kind of high for no more than what you get. I had the farmers omelette, has browns, wheat toast, and side of sausage. I got my omelette which was missing the avocado which is the reason I ordered it. The toast was one slice cut in half swimming in butter and it was white not wheat. The hash browns are good but they are home fries which I prefer anyways. And a side of sausage is 1 patty I will however say the patty isn't a pre frozen patty which was really good as well. Coffee was good as well. Unfortunately my plate is clean and I'm still hungry.... Maybe I'm a fatty but compared to other places the portions are small. The service was nice too the lady was very friendly but I couldn't get everything I wanted cuz once she dropped the food she didn't come back until I was done and I didn't want my food getting cold so I just ate it. read more

OMG!!! Home Cooked Breakfast and Hot Coffee on a cold morning. The Chicken Fried steak was crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. Best Food in Shamrock Texas. I will be returning. We were doing a route 66 road trip and stopped in Shamrock, Tx to see the Conoco Tower. Decided to eat breakfast and fortunately found the Farmhouse Cafe off the beaten track.
