I have been a loyal customer to Shea and Faron Salon for over a decade. I recently went in for my first haircut since Covid-19. I've been hesitant to make an appointment, but I can say that the experience was great. The salon was clean and safe, taking all necessary precautions... plexiglass dividers, masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, etc. I was the only one in the salon besides my stylist and the owner. My temperature was taken at the door. To my surprise, I didn't feel anxious or concerned at all (unlike at the grocery store, restaurants, etc). I never posted a review on Yelp before but Faron Salon truly deserves 5 stars! I wear the hijab and it's extremely hard to find a salon that will accommodate that. Faron Salon is the only salon in MA that has a private room for that purpose! Not only that, but when there are no male stylists/clients, Faron will allow any hijabi to enjoy the full salon experience by shutting the curtains so you're able to get your hair done with everyone else! She's the sweetest person ever and I had the best conversation with her! In terms of hair, she's truly the best! I originally came to her with the idea of dying my whole hair a completely different color for my wedding and instead of doing what I want so she can charge more, she talked me out of it because it wasn't the healthiest or prettiest option for me! That shows exactly how much she cares about her clients. She ended up evening out my hair color and I couldn't be happier with the results! Tracey has been my hair stylist for almost a decade. Together we have been through waist length hair to asymmetric pixie cuts, pink to red to black color. She has always been honest when giving her opinion on what would best fit my face and I trust her so much, most of the time she will ask me, "what are we doing today?" Most of the time my answer is "Whatever you think will be good." She never disappoints. I've sent others to her with VERY different hair than mine and we all come away more than satisfied. I've never been happier with a salon, a stylist, and my haircut. The best part is Faron's new Private room for women who wear hijab or require privacy for their haircut. I'm a young professional in my 20s who covers and am always on the go. So finding time AND a good place to get my hair done is difficult. There aren't any salons that offer the privacy that Faron now does and I am so grateful for her respect and kind-heart. The back room is set up like a mini-salon and feels just like it's part of the rest of the salon instead of a break room (where I've had my hair done before at other places.) Faron herself is wonderful and attentive. I usually get boring layers done. She gave me a brand new style and I absolutely love it! Faron has been cutting my hair for at least a decade, and this is despite my living in multiple cities across the country. I am fiercely loyal because she makes my hair look amazing. I have straight hair, and she does layered bangs and then layers all around to make it wavy without any effort. It's not infrequent that people ask me where I get my hair cut which says a lot since I refuse to learn how to use a hair drier or styling products. At $85 for a cut it's not cheap (but on par with Newbury street), and hair is an outfit you wear every single day, and so it's totally worth it! And cheap hair cuts look like cheap hair cuts...so do yourself a favor and splurge a bit and get an amazing cut. Had a hair cut with Faron a few months back over the summer. I did tell her I want shorter hair, however she chopped it all off without considering that curly hair springs up higher when its dry. I'm still trying to grow out my hair and the shape is all wonky because of the way she layered my hair. For a $70 + tip (which she didn't even blow dry because of "curly hair" and just put some product in) hair cut you expect so much more. I will never come back here again. read more

Tracey has been cutting my hair since I moved to the the area 10 years ago. I first met her at Judy Jetsons, followed her to Salon Luna and now will be seeing her at Faron Salon! And while the Hijab friendly private room is not a service I personally require I think it's freaking awesome that they offer it! This is an all-around great place. I highly recommend Faron for cuts. She gives the best cuts! She is expensive but so worth it. I was not happy with my last haircut back in October at another salon, so I had decided to let my hair grow out a little before trying Faron Salon for the 1st time. I requested my appointment thru the salon website and got a call back promptly. I had requested Shea as my stylist after reading her profile on the salon website. Shea understood exactly what I had in mind. The result is great, my husband loves it and said it is the best haircut in a long time. The salon is conveniently located within walking distance from Porter Sq. I did not find the red chairs too comfortable. I realized after my appointment that the salon actually closes at 6pm on Fridays, but they graciously accommodated my request for a 6 pm appointment, I was done by 7pm. Also since this was my 1st visit, I was offered 15% off. Overall it was a great experience, I will definitely go back, even though the price is on the high side. read more
