I've visited The Loft Medford several times for the past couple years. I have nothing but positive things to say. Two years ago, I couldn't get a curl to stay. I was using all the wrong hair products, I had heat damage, I wasn't sure what to do with my hair or how to take care of it, and I didn't know how best to sleep with my hair at night to get it to last. Sharita did my hair for my wedding and it came out INCREDIBLY well. She was so kind and easy to work with throughout the process, and brought great vibes to my "getting ready" space on the morning of the wedding. She also did hairstyles for 4 women in our wedding party, each with very different hair textures, and absolutely nailed each of their looks. It was honestly really impressive that she made everything from my natural curls to my friend's very thin straight hair look good and stay in place all night. This place is it! I've been looking for a curly cut salon that can provide an amazing haircut and great color service in a professional environment, and I found it. My biggest gripe with most curly cuts is the unevenness of the cut. At the Loft, their cuts are symmetrical and not just one round mushroom shape, you know what I mean. I got a tapered pixie cut and double process custom blonde and pink color by Korlu. She was patient and knowledgeable throughout. She let me know it might take more than one session to reach my goal. We hit a small snafu with the color payoff on the pink but she immediately remedied it and made sure I got exactly what I asked for and more. People don't wait 3-4 months for nothing! Sharita (owner) and her amazing team are nothing short of amazing! All first client appointments are a little over an hour and you get the entire process explained to you in great detail as well as a list of products she used on your hair so you achieve the same look if you want to. Before anything is started she asks what your goals for your hair are. I received a needed cut for style/body and shape but not too short b/c I want to retain length. From there you are washed/detoxed and then under the dryer to deep condition for moisture. After you get each stand combed through with her fingers to ensure they are all coated and sealed well with product. Once all strands are coated you sit under the dryer again for a little bit to set everything and for it to dry as this is done on your wet hair. Once out the dryer an oil is applied for shine. I left with my hair bouncy, not filled with products and very satisfied. There is a parking lot next door with up to 3 hours for free, bonus! Also many restaurants around if you leave feeling a bit hungry. I'll def return for a curl refresher in a few months to ensure I'm gaining length but most importantly healthy curls/hair! read more

I came here a couple of weeks ago because I was in desperately in need of a trim and was assigned to Selina. At first I was skeptical and wasn't sure whether I should feel comfortable with her doing my hair because we have very different hair textures. However, I left the salon feeling pleased. Selina provided education and told me which products I should be using on my hair and also gave me a list of products to buy. Sharita is a curl whisperer. She is great at what she does and gives you the time and care your curls need. She walks you through the products and hair care routine and recommends any modifications that might work better. She will give you a list of what she used on you . The studio is small but mighty and they are constantly working to make the space better. As all curly heads know, it takes a while to find the right stylist and I sure did take my time to get to Sharita. Now that I am here, I love it ! When I first heard about The Loft I got so excited. There were no other hair salons in the area that were pro natural hair. I don't trust every stylist with my hair because a lot of them don't know what to do with natural curls, but Sharita and her team do! I made an appt at this salon, paid the deposit, agreed to the 48 hour cancellation policy, washed my hair and left it in its natural state only for them to call and cancel an hour before my scheduled appointment time. The owner kept insisting it was an emergency but it is doubtful she would have been understanding of me if I did the same. The lack of professionalism and unreliability in this situation is completely unacceptable. Their unreasonable demands left me worse as my hair was perfect prior to the appt but getting it prepped for them in its natural state put me in a worse situation that if I were able to manage on my own I would not need the appt. Salons like these are money grabs. They don't consider their clients at all (which is their livelihood) and focus on money. I did everything possible to make sure my appointment would go smoothly and followed all their many rules. With all that they cancelled with an hours notice and an apology. Save yourself. This salon is one of the best salons that I have experienced. Korlu gave me the best hair experience a woman can ask for. Not just did she treat my curls, she educated and taught me how to love and care for them. Korlu taught me to be the best that I can be. I went there once in January and saw Joy. I think she did a great job, maybe not a master stylist but definitely gave me what I wanted and provided good advice on care for my curls. DO NOT MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ON A WEDNESDAY. They require you give 48hr notice to cancel an appointment but they are closed Sunday-Tuesday. I called and left a voicemail with 48hr notice and they claimed they did not receive the message resulting in me being charged for the appointment. The person I talked to was not helpful and a bit condescending. I am disappointed this happened because I was excited for my appointment but I likely will not be coming back. - Again my advice is to not make an appointment for Wednesday or even Thursday because they are hard to get in touch with to cancel within 48hrs. read more

Korlu cut my hair, and gave me exactly what I wanted! She was patient, understanding and listened to how I wanted my hair cut. I wish I could give to the Loft a better review. I went to the loft the first time on Saturday 9/14/19 after waiting for a month to be seen as a new customer. I thought that the stylist was going to assess my hair and told me everything what my hair will need and how to take care of my hair as stated on the website. It did not happened. I sat on her chair. She gave me a trim. She asked me about the shampoo I used but nothing else. She washed my hair and do what ever she needed to do. She did not asked me of my hair routine ect.. and the reason I went there is because I am struggling on how to manage my hair as a natural. She was very busy that day because I can see the list of people that were booked with her but she did not take her time to explain everything to me. When I was done I was given a prescription by a little girl who did not know what products the stylist had used on my hair(by the way they use the same products on all types of textures. I did not really see the difference that each texture require a special product). The paper they gave me as a prescription was not very readable. Also before I forget, I had to ask her to cut my hair. She was not going to give me a hair cut and it was part of the money that I paid. I don't know if I received a deva cut because it was not explained to me. I did buy all the product that they had told me to buy. THE worse was the next day. My hair was nappy. my hair had no curls unable to manage. I texted back and forth with the owner but it did not help and today Monday 9/16/19 I have to wear a WIG to come to work when I spent that Saturday only : HAIR =$145+TIP=$10+PRODUCTS at the loft:$56+products at Target: $38. total of $249 for nothing. I was not SATISFIED AT ALL AND I feel that I spent this kind of money for nothing. The style only last 1 day (that Saturday only) when I was told it will last 7days.. Not true. This was the best hair experience i have had in years!!! I was prepared to spend my entire sat here. I was in and out in less thab two hours. I got a wash, blowout, deep conditioner treatment, hair braided, AND my hair is mid back length and IT'S A LOT.It was NOT painful and I was told exactly how to maintain. From the moment I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted and offered refreshments and assorted pastries and goodies they had available. My stylist, Toriah, was super knowledgeable, patient, and took her time to understand what I was looking for as well as make sure I understood and was comfortable with the plan for my haircut. Every step of the process, from the consultation, to the atmosphere in the salon, to the deep conditioning treatment, and styling of the hair is clearly thought out and planned with the client in mind.
