I'm glad to find Isabel through Yelp and had been coming to Isabel for my haircuts ever since I relocated to Boston last summer. The shop is small and only has Isabel as a stylist (or you can see Anita for threading or waxing, too --the two ladies share the workspace), so I would recommend calling or making appointment ahead of time to avoid not getting seen/disappointment. Isabel is kind and is a great conversationalist. It's great caching up with her about life. She does remember her clients as well (I know this because she mentioned specific info about me everytime I stopped by!). She even remembered roughly the last time I stopped by her salon too! Prices are really reasonable for a haircut (she does shampoo my har before the cut, too). I know she also offers coloring too but I've never done that yet with her. I'm extremely picky with my hair - over the last decade I've lived in San Francisco and Manhattan and have tried a bunch of salons there, as well as on work assignments in Hong Kong and Mumbai, and Isabel beats anywhere I've gone before. Looking for eyebrow threading? This is your place!! I called ahead to see if they took walk-ins and they were able to squeeze me in immediately. They did a fantastic job and I couldn't be happier with my brows. They are shaped so nicely and she evened them out for me. So gentle too- I barely felt a thing and usually threading hurts really badly for me. Best part- it only costs $10! I wish I was local so I could come back here regularly but I was just in town for a visit. They take credit and you can tip on the card too which is convenient. Bottom line: this is a no-frills salon. I scheduled a cut with Isabel. She is a very sweet woman! She double washed my hair and the shampoo/scalp massage was AMAZING. There was no consultation before or after my wash really. She asked me what I wanted and explained (I got 3inches off and kept long layers). She immediately went to work and I was in and out in about 40mins. I got barebones what I asked for and she blew it dry. I was surprised by lack of product. I got a curl cream applied to the ends and that is it(not even a heat protectant before the blow dry). She did give me a few sage tips I'll take with me. And I really liked her as a person but I didn't get the full haircut experience I typically like. You get what you pay for. No frills, no ambiance, no high end products. But a decent haircut...best part was shampoo--chills. read more

I'm a bit torn to be honest. I used to come here to get my eyebrows done, but I have recently stopped because I'm not a big fan of their style. My eyebrows are on the thicker end and can get a bit out of control so I like them to be on the thinner end when I get them done (I can always fill them in a bit if I need to). Anita's style is more natural so I always left feeling like my eyebrows had not actually been "done." I mentioned my desire for more "shaped" eyebrows a few times at the end of my appointment, but I never really got the result I was looking for. This is just my style though - if you have very thin/light eyebrows or prefer that "natural" look then this place is probably a good fit for you! Anita is very nice and it was generally easy to make appointments, even last minute ones. I also stopped coming here because of the price. Supposedly $10 is cheap for the area, but it's really ~$12 with tip and everywhere else outside of Boston that I've been to does eyebrows for only $6 or so. So, for me, this was on the pricier end for something I wasn't completely satisfied with. My recommendation would be to check it out and see if this is a good fit for you! read more

I got a great haircut here! I came in without much of an idea in mind of what I wanted and the hair stylist gave me suggestions for a look I really liked. I had to wait for a bit even though I had booked my haircut since there was only one stylist. My only complaint is that communication was a bit difficult and I wasn't sure what the stylist was asking or suggesting a few times, but I would definitely return for another cut! read more

I chose to go to this place to get a brazilian and my eyebrows threaded as it was located right across the street from where I live and it was reasonably priced. I'm so happy I did! After coming here a few times, Anita felt like family. Not only that, she did a clean job. She explained how the last person who had threaded my eyebrows didn't quite do them right so they were too straight and flat. She cleaned mine up and said to let them grow for 5 weeks and then she'll thread them again and they'll be perfect. That's the dream right there, perfect brows! So I will definitely be back. This review is for Anita's threading services. I initially was nervous to come to a new place for eyebrow threading, but Anita was wonderful, and I'm sad I only found her so shortly before I have to move away! As I'm sure many can relate, I was nervous about too much being removed and my eyebrows being made too thin, as this can often happen even after you clarify you just want a little cleaned up on the sides. Anita assured me this would not be the case, and sure enough, she did an awesome job! Shockingly, she only charged $10, $2 cheaper than the average around here.
