Just finished a mini home makeover using Farrow & Ball, and I'm in love. I went with Treron for a deep, earthy elegance and Slipper Satin for that soft, timeless glow. The quality of the paint is incredibl-smooth, rich, and somehow both bold and subtle at the same time. Also, shoutout to their customer service team --so helpful, and genuinely kind. This review is long overdue. I wanted to wait and see how the paint actually held up over time before forming an opinion. First - The customer service is the absolute best! I called the store, I'd visited it in the past to check out their wallpaper (some of the patterns are absolutely gorgeous, worth going there just for ideas). The sales rep was very knowledgeable; she explained the differences between products and colors. After reviewing several test strips (I had collected in the past), I placed an order through the Flatiron store. They offered door to door delivery, which was so convenient. I repainted an entire home, three floors, multiple rooms. Since the home was over 200 years old with original details, I needed a paint color that would match the original sense of the home without looking too outdated. I must have gone through 300 different paint colors, I did Samplize, tested the paint on the actual walls, checked the LRVs, under different lighting (because a paint will look one way in direct sunlight but completely different under LED lighting). I think I drove myself a little crazy. I mean how many shades of white can there be??? Dozens! And they all look a little different. Money vs Aesthetics - While I really wanted to save money, the more time I spent with the Farrow and Ball colors, the more I fell in love with them. When I told the painter that I was using this brand he said "it's too hard to use." Skeptical, I asked around. It's not hard to use; he was an inexperienced painter. So I went with Farrow and Ball for the parlor level and smaller rooms and Benjamin Moore for the rest. After a year of heavy use, both paints have held up well. From an aesthetic perspective, the colors for Farrow and Ball are well worth the added expense IMO - particularly for an older home with unique design attributes (small corners, brass elements, original wood tones etc). While renovating one house, I also did a second one with a realtor for a planned sale/rental. I did not use Farrow and Ball due to cost considerations. The other house was modern and modern paint colors were fine. Bonus feature - The coverage from Farrow and Ball was where the brand really shines. During the renovation, a contractor wrote all over a small section of drywall- in black permanent ink. After scrubbing it for 30 minutes, I finally gave up. I allowed the wall to dry and then painted it with 2 coats of FB "all white" paint. No primer, lol, because I was simply exhausted by the whole process. It was a small section of wall but after I was done, someone entered the kitchen and said "nice paint job!" I wanted to say, the credit doesn't belong to me, it belongs to the paint -- the paint is simply magical ! read more

Order wallpaper at your own risk! We ordered the beautiful ringwold wallpaper from farrow and ball Nyc park ave office....great service in sales to delivery. Except when my installer starts putting up the wallpaper we discovered the blue ink dots appear all over the gold leaves and on the background randomly. The dots unfortunately were on every single roll of wallpaper. They do come off after my installer has to blot them out by hand with sponge carefully and then when wiping them off gently with white hand towel the blue ink bled. When we called the office jacki n Sarah sent the photos to uk head office. And head office said it was definitely quality control issue n to learn that it will never happen again in future. But not offer to compensate for mistake nor to replace until I ask if the wallpaper can be rushed n replaced. Meanwhile we didn't know what we should do. And my installer would have to charge me extra $1200 to return to install . We decided to go ahead and hang the rest of wallpaper. Did not hear back from Sarah till next day after I call....was told head office will rush a new batch. And I said we ended up hanging and ask if I can get any discount or compensation. Never heard back until a week later when I email n call the store n was informed that farrow and ball was willing to rush a new batch to me and I took it upon myself to install the inferior wallpaper , as a result no compensation will be given. The wallpaper is beautiful n it would have been a very gd experience if the wallpaper didn't have quality control issue. And I would have been happy if there was even a small gesture of free can of paint. But the attitude and service was truly lacking ultimately at farrow and ball. In future, don't order their wallpaper....stick to their paint. read more

Farrow and Ball paint is the best there is. But I'm writing today to sing the praises of the customer service, specifically of Andrew at the Upper Eastside/Lexington Avenue location. I walked into the showroom thinking I'd pick up a paint card and ended up having a two-hour long, fantastic, creative conversation with Andrew, who has impeccable taste (no surprise -- he's an interior designer, and was a costume designer in a previous life) and knows the F + B palette inside out. We ended up working together and picking out all the colors for my new apartment. The people employed at Farrow and Ball love what they're doing and understand paint, color and light on a level that other paint stores simply can't match. Andrew gave me a master class in creating a palette of paints that work beautifully for each individual room (especially for the quality of directional light in each room) and also work together in a beautifully cohesive way. Honestly, for me, paint is paint (unpopular opinion, noted) and my decisions are largely based on color. BUT, I just had one of the best customer experiences that I've had in NYC at the flatiron showroom and it is worth noting. I was assisted by showroom manager Nicole Costello who was personable, natural, honest, direct and, obviously knowledgeable. It's the best paint, duh. But the staff is also very pleasant to talk to and extremely patient. My husband probably flipped through about ten shades of grey. The woman helping us didn't flinch. Felt like she could have looked at those greys all day with us. And apparently they are naturally low VOC. Nice read more
