In the 80s I had my teeth bonded due to issues I had with my top front teeth. As methods changed, he recommended porcelain veneers which I have had for over 20 years and are still going strong. I also have a lot of fillings from when I was younger in the 70s. He has, over time, when they have cracked, have replaced them. On the ones he replaced, I had no issues. I felt well cared for and comfortable. I expressed my dental anxiety to Dr. Figueroa and he was compassionate and offered assistance by way of laughing gas for my extraction. The extraction couldn't have gone better. Dr. Figueroa talked his was through the procedure, which was helpful. They have a cozy little recovery room for post-op and then you're on your way. I was told they couldn't bill my insurance because they were out of network and that the visit wouldn't be covered. Based on what happened afterward, that information appears to have been incorrect. They did bill my insurance, and when I later received my Explanation of Benefits (EOB), my actual patient responsibility was significantly lower than what I had been charged on the day of the appointment. I found this experience extremely frustrating and concerning. Being given inaccurate information about insurance coverage and being charged more upfront than what I ultimately owed left me feeling misled. I plan to pursue this matter further with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General's office because I believe these billing practices should be reviewed. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage others to do their research and proceed with caution before seeking care here. A standard bitewing X-ray didn't provide adequate imaging to diagnose the cause of the infection that was present. I was quickly scheduled at this office, and seen within just a few days of being referred. Dr. Rosenbaum was very attentive and focused throughout my exam, and clearly explained what the cone beam scan indicated. (The tooth was cracked and needed to be extracted. He also offered his opinion that there was no need for an expensive implant to replace the tooth - which I really appreciated.) I received a referral to an oral surgeon, and as it turned out, I could be seen by that practice within 24 hours due to a cancellation. North Shore provided same-day turnaround in getting me a copy of my scan, and helped me to coordinate this with the oral surgeon's office. Bravo! I am very appreciative of the professionalism and efficiency of this team, and have no hesitation in recommending them.

Today I was told that they are busy and to leave a voicemail next time. I left a voicemail last week before closing about my aligners. ONE WEEK could shift my teeth in the wrong direction & if they are too busy to call back - why don't they find a more effective way to take care of their #1- oh yeah, the customers. Another time, I switched insurance and my insurance covered two cleanings per year. My gosh the amount of times I called the dentist and my insurance back and forth for a cleaning.... I just saw other Yelp reviews today, but have been coming for cleanings past year or more. I do like Dr Alex Portnoy (sp?) and most of the dental staff. Dr Alex takes the time to explain everything in detail and I enjoy the conversations between the staff during cleanings. It's the worst when i can feel tension between coworkers. Dr Robert (Bob) the orthodontist- also nice, however I got aligners and the past 5 weeks have been a hell of a struggle for a new patient. I have been on Google searching for answers, tips for newbies and ways to help get through the pain. I had zero idea what to expect...no one at the office answered the phone & I felt stranded with $7k bill and no help.

This experience has been phenomenal for the 7 years I've been with Dr. Aaron…read more I came to him in 2018 after being neglected by my oral surgeon, who had placed two implants, and the dentist who had done the crowns. I had suspicion something was going on as one was wiggling. Dr. Aaron jumped on it and was able to identify malpractice and addressed the offending surgeon (Dr. Vaina of IVOMS in Peru, IL) to have it corrected. I went back to the offending surgeon (due to cost reasons and giving him a chance to fix it) and about 6 surgeries later, I was even worse off. Dr. Aaron investigated and created a course of action, which involved referring me to a new surgeon, Dr. Frank of Northshore Smile Surgery, who proceeded to perform a miracle to restore my gums to full health. Dr. Aaron created me a temporary fix to keep my teeth in place which held me in tact for five years. In October 2024, despite living in another state, I called Dr. Aaron and let him know the remaining implant was showing really bad signs and he confirmed my thoughts and told me to come in that week to have it addressed. I traveled 10 hours to see him and he was incredibly thorough and sensitive in handling the issue and it was deemed I had to go back to Dr. Frank to correct more malpractice from the offending surgeon at IVOMS (Dr. Vaina). Dr. Aaron set me up in a temporary bridge to help keep the aesthetics of my gums in tact and so as to not leave me toothless in the front as a young woman and bride to be. After the two month healing period, he squeezed me back in his schedule as I traveled 10 hours to see him again through Michigan winter madness. After 8 years of pain and trauma from other providers, Dr. Aaron took care of me at the highest level. He was the only one willing to identify and tackle this complex and heartbreaking nightmare, he handled each step over 8 years so tactfully and was truly invested in not only my business, but genuinely cared about my well being and wanted to see me find my dream smile. Dr. Aaron has truly gone above and beyond for me in every single aspect of my care for almost a decade, every dentist should be at his level. His sense of ethics, his personality, his attention to detail, his level of care... he's second to none. As a former dental professional myself, after working with him, it makes me never want to go anywhere else the rest of my life. The rest of the staff is fantastic too! Occasionally the other doctors would get involved in my case and were always very direct and clear while showing empathy for the situation. The front office staff and manager Kathy are wonderful and really helpful, always making sure to give any information needed and working around my wild schedule being out of state. The assistants are all fantastic and incredibly personable as well, I've always enjoyed each one I've had and have been pretty consistent faces over the years! You can't ask for a better dental office from start to finish. They even have a service dog on site, which has been amazing through something that's been traumatic to go through and recover from.
