Since I was informed I needed a tooth pulled, I had an impending sense of doom. I'm proud of how quickly I scheduled the consultation (due to the end of the Flex Spending deadline). In advance of my appointment, my dentist sent the xrays to Dr Jacob's office and I both dreaded that they would pull my tooth that day, or that I would have to return to have it done. My primary care physician also recommended Dr. Jacobs. When I arrived at the office, it was the most glamorous dental office I'd ever seen. There was a separate room to fill out paperwork. There was a separate waiting room with a large TV. They didn't shove anything into my mouth to take xrays -- the camera flew around me like a 360 degree photo booth. They told me that they would pull the tooth that day -- was I more terrified or more relieved? Dr Jacobs was very caring and supportive when I told him I was quite nervous. He was very patient and explained each step that would happen. The worst, of course, was the injection of novocaine. However, as he said, it took no longer than 10 minutes to extract the tooth. The staff was very detailed with the after care. They called me when I returned home and Dr Jacobs called me later that evening to check on me. While I hope I never see Dr Jacobs ever again, chances are that my teeth will let me down sometime in the future. At least I know what to expect, and Dr Jacobs and his practice are the very best.

Our ortho thought Dr. Mark Jacobs would be a good fit for what she needed done and her "high maintenance" personality. I liked that he was an anesthesiologist before an oral surgeon since I assumed we would have to knock her out for the procedure. We were able to get in for a consultant within a week and the procedure a week later. The building itself is pretty old and I feared the elevator was going to break down on us, but the office itself is beautiful and not what you'd expect in this older building. During the consultation Dr. Jacob and his lovely staff put us both at least. They were very clear on what the procedure would entail and how to make it as pain free as possible. He gave us a few options for pain management and she chose a drink that would put her to sleep. They even asked what flavor she likes and she asked if they had any shirley temples. No such luck, but lots of fruit juices to choose from. The day of the procedure I expected to have to drag her into the office, but she went willingly since the consultation was so smooth. The hardest part was that she really didn't like the taste of the drink, but they were very patient as she took forever to gag it down. From there it the procedure itself was easy. She was drowsy and cranky the rest of the day, but it went way better than I expected. Today she had a quick follow-up (one week later) and was told she can resume eating whatever she wanted. Hooray! Everyone in the office was lovely once again and I will go back to them for any future oral surgeon needs (ex: wisdom teeth) for my family, but hopefully we don't have too many.

However it was upon my return visit to get stitches taken out that the true unprofessionalism showed. While removing stitches he asked me if I have ever watched Animal Planet. "Have you ever seen them sedate an elephant? I always wondered how much medicine it would take to do it." REALLY!?!? Was that the best he could come up with? Totally not called for. Well, yes, but with Dr. Landau you know you are being treated by a skilled and experienced dentist using the latest technologies. From the time they recommended fluoride treatment at checkup appointments, I haven't had a cavity and I appreciate their foresight in making that suggestion. Said it was such a big job, I had to do it in 2 separate appts. I came in for first procedure of right side. So with that raising issues I had to see another dentist (actually 2 different highly qualified dentists) who both found that I did not have any pockets Dr. Landau saw. If he said both sides needed scaling and emphasized how bad they were.. then why was the other side he didn't do yet perfect without any signs of pockets? I refused to pay him for the half of the procedure he performed and he actually seemed ok with that -never perused me or sent a bill. That alone shows he admitted wrongdoing as he knew he couldn't argue or pursue this. I just hope patients can do their research to see the many dissatisfied patient reviews online. There have been many others just like myself that I wish I saw before I started with him. However I have notices that he seems to get many of these bad reviews removed from here. Also beware when you see a ton of rave reviews for doctors on who have bad reviews as they are putting up these bogus good reviews to balance out the bad ones. Keep in mind that there are usually few to no reviews for most doctors, even the good ones. People know who the well established top doctors are w/o Yelp. But don't be duped and fall for doctors on these review sites who have their friends and family post lots of good ratings to offset the bad ones. Just beware that this dentist is mostly motivated by money and not your best interest!

Three were not damaged, one was but you were charged for all four. Having Parkinson Disease I was not feeling assertive. Says they are open Saturday, if they are they do not answer the phone. I called on Tuesday, 10/8 when they "opened" again multiple times throughout the day and no answer. I showed up to the building and the doors were locked on Tuesday at 3pm. I'm in extreme pain and they can not help. Now I have to call my insurance and get switched off of them to someone else all while waiting on it to go through so I can see the dentist. 0/10 wouldnt recommend to anyone.
