Seriously, is there anything more terrifying than dental work? Lying on your back, while metal implements are scraping/pulling your teeth? Since I was informed I needed a tooth pulled, I had an impending sense of doom. I'm proud of how quickly I scheduled the consultation (due to the end of the Flex Spending deadline). In advance of my appointment, my dentist sent the xrays to Dr Jacob's office and I both dreaded that they would pull my tooth that day, or that I would have to return to have it done. My primary care physician also recommended Dr. Jacobs. When I arrived at the office, it was the most glamorous dental office I'd ever seen. There was a separate room to fill out paperwork. There was a separate waiting room with a large TV. They didn't shove anything into my mouth to take xrays -- the camera flew around me like a 360 degree photo booth. They told me that they would pull the tooth that day -- was I more terrified or more relieved? Dr Jacobs was very caring and supportive when I told him I was quite nervous. He was very patient and explained each step that would happen. The worst, of course, was the injection of novocaine. However, as he said, it took no longer than 10 minutes to extract the tooth. The staff was very detailed with the after care. They called me when I returned home and Dr Jacobs called me later that evening to check on me. While I hope I never see Dr Jacobs ever again, chances are that my teeth will let me down sometime in the future. At least I know what to expect, and Dr Jacobs and his practice are the very best. read more

My daughter has very low tolerance when it comes to anything medical and basically has to be sedated for teeth cleanings so when the orthodontist recommended that she get teeth pulled I was worried. Our ortho thought Dr. Mark Jacobs would be a good fit for what she needed done and her "high maintenance" personality. I liked that he was an anesthesiologist before an oral surgeon since I assumed we would have to knock her out for the procedure. We were able to get in for a consultant within a week and the procedure a week later. The building itself is pretty old and I feared the elevator was going to break down on us, but the office itself is beautiful and not what you'd expect in this older building. During the consultation Dr. Jacob and his lovely staff put us both at least. They were very clear on what the procedure would entail and how to make it as pain free as possible. He gave us a few options for pain management and she chose a drink that would put her to sleep. They even asked what flavor she likes and she asked if they had any shirley temples. No such luck, but lots of fruit juices to choose from. The day of the procedure I expected to have to drag her into the office, but she went willingly since the consultation was so smooth. The hardest part was that she really didn't like the taste of the drink, but they were very patient as she took forever to gag it down. From there it the procedure itself was easy. She was drowsy and cranky the rest of the day, but it went way better than I expected. Today she had a quick follow-up (one week later) and was told she can resume eating whatever she wanted. Hooray! Everyone in the office was lovely once again and I will go back to them for any future oral surgeon needs (ex: wisdom teeth) for my family, but hopefully we don't have too many. read more

Went to Dr Jacobs for a tooth extraction for my child. I like how Dr Jacobs was actually an anesthesiologist earlier in his career, which gives makes more comfortable for more complicated oral surgery procedures. The office is nicely renovated, very clean and modern and very bright. I really liked how everyone that worked there was so welcoming and even though everyone had masks on, you could tell they had a smile on their face. We were the first patient in that day - think they try to get the kids in early in their schedules and during Covid, they have you call once you get to the office. The receptionist let us come in upon phoning. We did our Covid questionnaire and initially they said as a parent of the patient that I'd need to wait in the car, but I said that's not acceptable since my child was scared, and for them to reconsider my presence since were from the same household. After a quick check with Dr Jacobs, they let me stay with my daughter, especially since it was a local pain treatment. Dr Jacobs didn't pressure us for the procedure, just walked me through the various options and the detail for pain and even to extract or leave in place from our previous consult. In the end I decided it was best for extraction. The procedure was fairly quick after numbing. He and his staff Dora had a good demeanor for my child which kept her calm and encouraged through the procedure. Best oral surgeon in the North Shore. His office is the cleanest one in the building. Regarding the moldy vent comments, it is relating to the hallways. His office is the elephant in the building. It is completely modern and clean to the brim. Dr. Jacob could not have done a better job with the wisdom tooth extraction. The appointment actually ran around 25 minutes late because he refused to rush the surgery of the patient before. The post surgery/recovery directions are drilled into your memory. You get a sheet with everything to do. Follow them and you won't get dry sockets. Most qualified surgeon, great environment, good staff. Come here unless you want a Doogie Howser who isn't a CERTIFIED anesthesiologist and TEACHES at the hospital like Dr. Jacob!! More than impressed. Payment was easy, coordinating dates was easier, come here. DO NOT LISTEN TO REVIEWS REGARDING PAYMENT, BUILDING CONDITION, ETC. IT IS OUT OF HIS CONTROL. Walked into a dirty cluttered office. Front desk girl didn't tell me that the Dr was running late even though she clearly knew. Waited over 11/2 hours to see the doctor. Never got to see him. Only after I asked how much longer did I find out that he just got into surgery. The girls blamed it on chatty patients taking up too much time so he was running late. They said it would be another 45 min, that's when I left. I wastted nearly 2 hrs of my time there and didn't get to see the doctor. No one apologized for the wait. Inconsiderate and arrogant. Overbooked patients and running late. Was he going to rush my appointment? That wasn't the worst of it. Besides the fact that he is inconsiderate of patients' time , he has the dirtiest office I've ever seen. Mold on the radiator, floor peeling, surgery materials cluttered on racks and counters and junk strewn all over the place.Hemistat wasn't bagged- didn't look sterile. His office was in disarray and filthy dirty - unacceptable for anyone especially a surgeon. I was completely shocked to learn that he's performing surgery there!! Unsanitary conditions! Canceled my surgery and ran out. I took pictures and am filing a complaint with the ADA. He should be shut down. read more

I highly recommend Dr.Jacobs. He is knowledgeable, thorough and has an excellent personality. He is also an anesthesiologist so I felt very comfortable and confident during my procedure. He genuinely cares about his patients as he called later in the evening to check up to see how I was doing and to answer any questions I may have had that came up since leaving the office. He also will give the patients his cell phone number after the procedure which is also comforting not to have to go through an answering service and wait for a return call. Very rare and so important and another sign that Dr. Jacobs care about his patients. His office staff is extremely nice and helpful, especially Jill, Erica and Laura. It's not always easy to find a doctor and his staff with all of these positive characteristics but Dr. Jacobs has all of them! read more

I am a physician - surgeon. I have now seen Dr. Jacob for two extractions, and referred multiple family members. To date all have had amazingly quick recovery. Dr. Jacob has an anesthesia background. He is incredible with his use of local anesthetic blocks and combines that with obvious highest level surgical technique and skill. His procedure time is amazingly short. I just had a rear lower tooth and wisdom tooth removed wo noticeable swelling and at most a few hours 2/3 out of 10 discomfort. I only needed 2 extra strength Tylenol and 2 Aleve I took right after. Day 2 Im 0 pain on nothing. If your younger than me like my son maybe a moderately uncomfortable day 1 but for him (at age 19) that was about it. I'm just in awe of how easy our recoveries have all been. This is the oral surgeon to see if you want the best of the best. Confidence, skill, empathy, volunteer service to those in need when possible, and oh yes, incredibly reasonable. Needless to say he has a team that clearly loves what they do and their surgeon. I rarely write reviews but I know when people are looking for an oral surgeon they need to know about Dr. Jacob! read more

Would give him a zero star. Waited over an hour and didn't see the doctor. Got there at 10:45 AM for an 11 o'clock appointment as the girl told us. At 11:30 the doctor was going into a surgery, so it was going to be ANOTHER hour. Whether he is overbooked or doesn't care about his patients' time, it is very inconsiderate to have patients waiting for hours. The office was dirty, clutter, and unorganized. There was dust and mold in the vents. Stains on the chairs. Surgery supplies and materials were thrown haphazardly on the counters, floor, and in carts, not neatly in cabinets. I was shocked when I found out that he was performing surgery in this same dirty office. Not what you would expect of a doctor's office let alone a surgeon's office. There are too many doctors around to go to an inconsiderate and dirty one. read more

Bunch of crooks. They require payment in full which I understand so we paid in full. Then they billed the insurance and I got an explanation of benefits which shows the insurance paid and what was my responsibility. It took 4 calls and eight weeks to get a partial refund. After another month trying to get explanations of why the refund is light they have still not called back. There is absolutely no excuses for this other than plain old fraud. read more

Dr. Jacob is an AMAZING oral surgeon! I went to his practice a year ago for a tooth extraction that required anesthesia, which I was very nervous about. Dr. Jacob and his kind assistants made me feel very comfortable the entire time. He was very gentle during the surgery, and did an excellent job with my tooth extraction. His office followed up several times by phone to make sure everything was alright after I got home. It's been over a year since I saw Dr. Jacob for my surgery and he is still following up to make sure everything is good. I'm so happy to have found such a wonderful and trustworthy surgeon! Great experience, I had my wisdom teeth removed. The office was easy to find, clean, and inviting. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and I saw the doctor promptly with each appointment. The surgery was flawless, I had great results, and hardly any pain or swelling at all. It has been 4 days since the surgery and it is almost as if it never happened. Dr. Mark Jacob is one of my favorite people and I totally recommend him for an oral surgeries that one must get! He is very caring and gentle with his patients, the procedure, and the pre/post part of the procedure. I usually freak out about needles, but he and his nurses made me feel very comfortable and calm. He did the IV very well without any bruises or spots and everything was done before I knew it. He made sure to call me the day of and the day after my surgery to make sure everything was going well and when I had an emergency one day, they had me in immediately. The office is very nice and they make sure you are aware of what is going on before the day comes. On November 21, 2018 (the day before Thanksgiving) I had my four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Mark Jacob. It was a super last-minute appointment, and I am so thankful he was able to fit me into his schedule before I had to return to college. Walking into his office, the waiting area is super white and clean and has a neat fish tank. Right away we (my Mom and I) were given a bunch of paperwork, and we got the impression that this office is very well organized and put together. In less than 5 minutes after turning in the paperwork we were led back to a room. (The office has just finished going through a bunch of renovations and looks super new and clean--also very up to date with new equipment and screens). Dr. Jacobs was super friendly and informative. After a great conversation with him I learned that he is a professor at a local dental school, and he was clear in his explanation of what the procedure would entail. He gave me a lot of tips for care, and afterwards I got a ton of papers and things to take home with me. I opted for the anesthesia option for the operation and before I went under the dental assistants were joking around with me. When I woke up, I was told that everything went well, and my mom was right there waiting for me. Dr. Jacob stopped in to check in on me right before I left, and was super friendly. After getting home I used ice packs and was even able to eat some sorbet that night. Dr. Jacobs also gave me the tip that I need to rinse after every bite of food to avoid an infection. I am happy to say that I did not get any infections, and that I barely had any swelling. The little bit of swelling I had went away after 5 days. The office even followed up with me a day after the procedure to check in and see how I was doing. You can tell that they really care. Yesterday (two months after the procedure) I went in for a regular dental cleaning and the doctor was shocked at how well everything had healed and how fast. At age 49 I had many missing and broken teeth. I met with Dr. Jacob in 2015 to explore my options of restoring my smile and my ability to eat again. Unlike many, I found Dr. Jacob to be extremely knowledgeable, caring, and very friendly. He had the bedside manners that so many doctors are missing. In 2016, I finally decided to move forward in removing my badly damaged teeth. On the day of the procedure I was very nervous and somewhat depressed but because of Dr. Jacob I was able to get through this very difficult time. Not only did he make the procedure easier he promised me he would see me through to the end result of a beautiful smile again and the ability to eat all the foods I love. I have seen Dr. Jacob three times since the extractions, and he continues to be supportive. I tend to ask many of the same questions each time I see him, but he never gets frustrated with me and will spend whatever time is needed to ensure that he has answered all my questions. I would highly recommend Dr. Jacob as he is the best oral surgeon/physician I have ever had. I'm really looking forward to getting my implants and couldn't have asked for anyone better! read more
