    The buttons are not equidistant and one is about to pop off

    I just went into Mae's shop to discuss the alterations to my husband's jeans and coat. Having worked in fashion for many years I knew the alterations that needed to be done were minimal. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Disgusted might be more like it. The coats sleeves were taken up, but the buttons were scrunched together and poorly sewn on. Then she folded in the fabric over the button holes and said pressing the fabric so it would lie flat is not something she does. The jeans were cut and sewn back together instead of just being taken up. She asked my husband if that's what he wanted by saying "do you want the original hem" without explaining what that was. When I went back she told me she was going out of town and I would have to wait another 3 weeks to fix any of these things. When I asked her to refund us she said she would only do so if she gave it back to me in the original condition, and then when I said please give me back my things she was holding on to it and told me I could sue her and that she has a lawyer. I was appalled by my experience and I will never go there. I will also actively make sure everyone knows that she should not be trusted with your tailoring.

    Chalk marks still visible. Terrible hem all around. This is what she considers a hem worth $150.

    Told me over the phone they could alter some pieces, took it in store for the lady to tell me she actually Couldn't anymore

David and Blu were absolutely lovely -- polite, professional, and genuinely interested in helping us. David measured my son and patiently explained sizing and fit for the different cuts. Blu made great suggestions about how to put together an age-appropriate, event-appropriate look. Both were respectful of our budget and suggested options at multiple price points, acknowledging my son would continue to grow and his style might change. We were very happy with the selection and put together three killer outfits. All of that made for a very nice customer service experience, and I would have been ecstatic with that, but David and Blu went above and beyond. When my son and I rushed out of the store to grab a quick dinner and head home to pack, David noticed that we had accidentally left behind one of the ties we bought. He took the time to look up my number to call to let us know to turn around, and he and Blu met us at the door a half hour after closing to make sure we got it. They could have waited until the next day to "find" it, or waited until I figured it out myself, but they did a kind and decent thing and called right away. I worked in retail, and I know that it is objectively annoying for customers to come in at the last minute with crazy requests. It is even more annoying to have to chase those customers down after closing because they were too frenetic to notice they left some of their things behind. (I'm sorry! We're not bad people!) If they were (justifiably) irritated, David and Blu didn't show it. They treated us like we were the first customers of the day right after their first cup of coffee, even a half hour after closing. My son left feeling excited and confident, and I left feeling relieved that I wasn't going to have to find a potato sack and do my best impression of a Project Runway contestant. Thanks, David, Blu, and Men's Wearhouse!
