Yeah, not so much. I've been here twice. The first time I got a good cut, but the second time was less than impressive. I forget the name of the guy who cut my hair the first time, but my second visit was with Eddie. I walked in and asked about getting a cut. Eddie somewhat acknowledged my presence, but spent a couple extra minutes reclined and on his laptop before he actually engaged me. So I just stood there waiting. Should have left at that point. Since barbers have the tendency to interpret my instructions "short on the side, long on the top to leave the curl" as "short blah blah blah short short" I saved a couple pictures of myself with the cut I want. Fail safe, right? Not a chance. And Eddie gave me a little bit of attitude about the picture. Save it, Eddie. Instead of focusing on my cut he focused on whether I could help him advertise at BU. Then he chopped off an inch from my side burns with uneven lob-sided results. Great. Yeah, really want to help you with that advertisement goal now. "How does it look?" he asked. "It's shorter than I wanted on the top." "Well, I can't do anything about that." Oh, you can't make my hair grow back? Thanks, got it. I was answering the question you asked me. Did you not like the answer? Look, Eddie isn't a bad guy. He just decided not to listen to me, and he decided to treat me like I wasn't important. Definitely my go to after Lessard's. The guys that work here are really laid back and it's a very relaxed environment. They'll chat you up and crack jokes the whole time. Really solid dudes giving great cuts at a decent price. read more

Fast Eddie Lives Up to His Name It's been tough finding a trustworthy barber in Boston, especially when you don't get your hair cut that often. After too many times at SuperCuts, I decided to try a new spot. Stopped in here for the first time a few weeks ago. Usually it's a toss up to see if a barber can cut longer hair. Eddie is the man! One of the best cuts I have received in this city! Asked me when the last time I had a haircut was to gauge the amount he needed to cut off, and asked me throughout the haircut if I was satisfied with the length and evenness of the hair. It threw me off to walk into a half costume shop, half barber shop. However, the guy who did my cut was awesome. He's been cutting hair for 18 years and the shop has been there for 75. He was friendly, listened to my request, and did a great job for a decent price. read more

I would rather go to this shop rather than any chain barber shop but it still misses the mark in a few ways. I do like that it's a bit funky and unique, with the wigs, costumes, and pipes. But the actual haircut itself is hit or miss. Nothing terrible ever, just not the most thorough job - but hey, it's a low price! read more

It was a little crowded with all the halloween stuff (he said he moves it out to the barbershop area since it's prime time for costumes right now, but I got a great cut fast without a lot of fuss and cheap. Solid work. Wasn't too fast, but I didn't need to give a ton of instruction to get the haircut I liked. Friendly and easy to talk to. First time someone different than my normal barber back in VA has cut my hair in almost fifteen years. I was nervous but ended up pleased. This is by far the worst haircut I've ever gotten. I asked Eddie for a trim on top, he clipped off most of what was up there. The job was sloppy, uneven, and looked worse once it grew in. Paid way too much to get such a bad haircut. Guy just wanted to get me out of there, had no regard for the fact that I was a paying customer. Won't be going back here. read more

I knew this would be my place for a regular buzz within the first three seconds of setting foot in the door. I walked in, and laughed to myself, the rear of the shop is dominated by costumes, the like that pop up in seasonal shops around Halloween's coming, while the front is occupied by a pair of good natured middle aged men. On the con side: it was a very hurried hair cut, with minimal attention to the details, and they seemed distracted by running the costume side of the business. Overall: it is just fine. You'll get a decent haircut for an average price. They don't accept credit cards, so bring cash. read more

Great barbershop! I have had a tough time finding a good barbershop in Allston/Brighton. Richie and Eddie are both solid barbers. I rarely wait in line. They are fast and efficient. Prices are fair, $15 to $18 depending on what you want done. Good conversation. Solid overall. read more

I've been getting my hair cut here almost every week (stupid military habits) for 2 years. So obviously the quality of haircut is good. On top of that, the guys that work there are great guys and they'll take care of you. I've gotten solid advice on where to grab last minute valentine's day flowers, and they've kept safe whatever random stuff that I accidentally left by accident-- sunglasses, wallet, whatever. If you're a regular enough face there, I'd recommend working out a membership plan. I did and saved a ton of money. read more

I love going here! I moved to Allston nearly two years ago and this is by far the best spot in the area. The guys there do a great job and the price is modest compared to any other alternatives. The atmosphere is interesting to with regards to the costume shop they have set up in the back, not to mention the guys are very friendly and down to earth. I am very picky about who cuts my hair as it insists on trying to fall out on me and I don't want to scare it away any more. I have been going to Fast Eddie's for 2 years and both barbers have had their way with my hair and both do great work. They are always polite and funny to their clients and work quickly but efficiently. I've never waited longer than 5 minutes and a haircut takes no longer than 15. Very good work. I have also taken their advice on trimmers and the like and have been pleased with the products I have purchased. They are always good for a walk in though it does get cramped in there around Sept. 1 or so through Halloween as they also run a costume shop inside and the halloween products do encroach on the tiny barber area. However this doesn't diminish the work they do. The only gripe I have is I can't use a credit card but it is a minor complaint. read more

Rich is a great barber. The other guy (Russian) is good too if Richie's out (I've been going there every two weeks for 3 years and he's only been out once). Will trim and shape your beard for you too for marginal additional price. Don't know why there's so man costumes and smoke shop items but they do a fine job at cutting hair. read more
