I had asked if he could do a certain haircut showed him pictures references and even a video. I asked him to leave the top longer and the back wasn't the picture and by the end of the haircut, I have no hair in the back and it's faded all the way up to I have no more wings. I asked him to keep the top of my head long and keep my bangs long. My bangs are at the middle of my forehead. Overall, then he told me that my video/reference was not going to look the same because i have straight hair so was the persons in the reference overall would not recommend if you like keepijg your hair longer because they will do what they want and hack it all off read more

Premium fade!! I'm visiting family and found these guys on a whim and it was the right choice. I got a high skin fade and reworked the top (I often cut my own hair and it was rough) and I am extremely impressed. Chris in the back dialed in my cut so good I'm honestly considering driving back from Upstate NY in a few weeks to get it again. Lessard's is a great place. Mike always does an excellent job and asks specific questions to give you exactly what you want.

This is the spot. Get a cut with either of the gentlemen in the front right chairs. Cash only. Knock chain hair cutters out of the water. Really great barbers that take their time. Give yourself some time though if you stop by. Place is often packed with customers, and barbers take their time (as they should). Wait is worth it, just don't come in expecting to get in and out if you have anywhere to be. read more

I've been going to Lessard's for years. You can tell that the barbers do a great job by how there's always a consistent stream of customers every time you're in the shop. Very personable as well - I've had my hair cut by each barber. For some reason though, by chance, I've had Brian cut my hair way more often than the others. He really does an excellent job. A straight up, old school, traditional barber shop that can't be beat. Finding a rad barber at a cheap price is a difficult task...but look no further than Lessard's. All the dudes that work here are super friendly, down to earth and really know their craft. They work fast, but really take extra care and attention to give you exactly what you want. A good solid place. Moderately priced for a good haircut. And as others have said these guys roll a little more old school, so the vibe is down to earth. I had a long wait this morning, because there was only one barber on duty. He told me that on Mondays and Wednesday that's the norm, so if you're in a hurry you may want to avoid those days. I had just moved to Brighton, and I came to Lessard's after seeing high ratings on yelp. Well, after I waited for over an hour, my first haircut was... not bad! Some guy in one of the first chairs cut my hair. He was a trendy, funny guy. So I came again. This time, a woman cut my hair, and she basically spent 30 minutes giving me a buzz cut. It was ok, it grew out over a few weeks and I got over it. So today, after deciding that I probably just had a bad experience last time, I decided to try out Lessards again. After 45 minutes of waiting and 15 minutes in the chair, I got a decent haircut, except that it's a bit of a 'bowl-cut' in the back. I don't understand why this place gets 4.5 stars. It is very mediocre, and the wait is about 45 minutes at a minimum. I plan to go to supercuts tomorrow morning to help trim things out, but I really think this place is overrated, and unreliable. I have pretty normal hair, and I've never experienced such mediocre quality for $16 (not so expensive, but still on the pricey side for a barber). I would not recommend Lessard's. read more

Absolutely my favorite barber spot in Boston, I would highly recommend going to this place for a fresh cut. Took me a while to find them and I don't see myself going anywhere else. I admittedly HATE Brighton, but going to Lessard's makes it worth going on the 57 bus (a statement I'd reserve for Lessard's and maybe Jim's Deli). Three really cool guys who are real chill and good conversationalists will give you a haircut that is leaps and bounds ahead of the cut you would receive at a place like SuperCuts while not having to sit through some boring conversation with a lady named Bernice who is your mom's age. The line is sometimes a little long after work (its a popular spot) but it is worth bending your schedule to make sure that you can get a cut here. Closed on Mondays so don't believe the description below. I'd probably recommend coming earlier in the week as the line can be brutal on some Fridays. read more

My son just had his hair cut by a barber "Brian" (probably his stage name). The guy is a wizard with the dexterity of a ninja. Able to adeptly cut and clip with either hand, it left us in stunned disbelief as if we'd seen a unicorn emerge from the mist with hands instead of hoofs. He dusted my son's neck, spun the chair and it was all over. With tears in my eyes, I threw him my wallet and left knowing I was forever changed by the experience. read more

It's been a long time since I've had a great haircut. I've had may decent ones, some bad, and some downright horrifying. After visiting Lessard's this morning, though - I have found a place that gives a great haircut, from front to back and in between. The atmosphere, personalities (of the barbers AND the regular customers), and proficiency at barbering make it hard to give Lessard's anything less than glowing praise. Lessard's is a small place, but it's worth looking out for. Mike, the Barber who cut my hair, was a cool guy who could actually hold up Barber-speak. In fact, both of the guys at the chairs actively brought the customers into conversation. This could be a product of their outgoing nature or the fact that a LOT of the guys that came in were regs. That was one thing that really sold me on Lessard's. The guys that get their haircuts there actually RETURN. Mike even goes out of his way to recall their names, and they're treated more like pals than customers. This not only made me feel comfortable at Lessards, but it aided in the hope that I, like others before me, may become a regular here. The haircut was expertly performed. I've asked for medium-regs before, and the results are a crap shoot unless you're getting your haircut on base (even then they're not GOOD haircuts). Mike nailed the fade, and took his time doing so. Not once did I feel rushed, nor did I feel worried about the result. Outstanding marks for knowing the trade like a true master go to Mike. The only issue some may have is the wait. This place is popular, and their busiest day is Sunday. But at $16 bucks for a great haircut (bring cash, they don't accept cards), the wait is absolutely understandable, and it's worth it to hang. Besides, you'll likely get involved in the conversations somehow. I look forward to my next visit to Lessard's. Any guys who are on the fence about their current barber or looking for a new one owe it to themselves and their hair to check it out. Lessard's gets a very solid five stars from me. read more

For 10 years I have been having my haircut by the same barber (see previous reviews); it was with great sadness that I learned of his passing several weeks ago. But like time, hair marches on and I needed a new barber; I don't like change so I was not looking forward to this process. Fortunately I found Lessards; the shop has a great vibe. good tunes (steel string guitars/rockabilly) and is housed in an old residence. Check out the back of the shop to see an old wood stove. Paul gave me a cut and was a really down to earth nice guy. Classic, American, and comfortable are three words I would use to describe the establishment. I'll certainly be back. They have some great hours as well that make the shop accessible before or after work. read more

Great barbers in terms of skill and great guys to have a conversation with. I have been going here since moving to Boston and have had been very satisfied. If you are not satisfied with your current place you should definitely check this out. As mentioned, they have unusual hours for a barber, not open on Sundays, only open from 7:30am 2pm on Saturday and 7:30am 9:00pm during the week. Because it is such a great place it is usually very packed, early in the morning is usually the best time to get in and out rather quickly...there are three chairs so when all three guys are there it moves pretty quick. Mike started the shop and Paul has been there for a long time as well....Mike will work usually on the Saturday while Paul is not usually there, both split time during the week. read more

I first want to say, this was one bad experience I had with a infamous employee who has done a poor job to my friends hair also. Lessard's is a great place, good atmosphere, I recommend the place to people, and the barbers there are all so good.... except for one guy. I got my hair cut done by the gentlemen in the far back, who has Arm Tattoos and usually wears a flat brim hat with glasses. I do not remember his name. I was very disappointed. I asked for a 3 Guard for my sides, blend in all the sides, keep the top at a single length, keep my bangs slightly longer as I like to flip to the left while spiking my hair. Basically, my hair to my same length on the top, shorter on the sides, slightly spike my bangs. Maybe he misheard my details? My result was complete com'over to the left, with skin short hair around my sides. NOT MY LOOK. He ended up doing a 3 Blade which made my sides look like a military haircut length. He kept the right top of my hair much longer compared to the sides, so he did not blend in my sides at all. He must of thought I said I like flip my entire top to the left. So, the right top side is long, the left top side of my head/bangs, is so short. Now I am forced to do my entire head flipped to the left. My neck hair, he applied so much pressure with the buzzer, where it made my neck irritated afterwards. He clearly was not paying full attention to detail of my ask, he rushed my cut and I was done in 15 minutes. He was watching TV, talking to other people, which is not a issue, of course, but when these distractions impact a customers details/demands for a hair cut, it becomes a major issue. All in all, I have friends who go to Lessards, who specifically avoid this guy from their first hair cut with him, this was my first, and my last with him. Every person who cuts hair at Lessards is great, I have two previous cuts, one with the owner, other with a younger guy from Maine, and they were lights out. But this one bad experience I had, I will always avoid him, and I suggest you do the same unless your getting a buzz cut, you can't mess that up. read more

This is a really awesome barber shop. Its a very nice small barbershop always with some sort of sports or news on their television or some good music playing. Not so loud that your annoyed by it however. Then no matter how good your hair cut is, the place isn't worth it if your barber is boring and awkward, but all the guys that work here are awesome, have great personalities and are very easy to talk to and have a great conversation with. Not only do you get a great hair cut with care, but you get to relax and enjoy the atmosphere with these great barbers. Only complaint that I have is that as a man with a lot of facial hair, I like to get it lined up and they don't use straight blades; like I enjoy, just the electric razor. This places is just aces. I've been going to Lessard's for over a year and I love it. I get my haircut every fortnight and I've never been disappointed. After only a few cuts my regular barber no longer asks what I want, he just gets down to cutting. I'd give them five stars but they don't take cards and in 2010 making a trip to the ATM every time I need a haircut is an inconvenience. I've paid as much as $85.00 to get my haircut and the $16.00 cuts here are just as good if not better because they remember exactly how I want it cut and it's perfect every time. If they used hot lather and a straight razors for necks they'd also pick up that last star. Still this places rocks, and you should have them cut your hair. read more
