I have been told by many that they make the best Hazy IPA in Washington! And I agree. Their hazy offerings are very similar to Monkish (who imo makes the best in the nation - or at a minimum, amongst the very best). We got to try 3 different beers in this style - Zen Filmmaking, Little League Home Run, and self Expression. All amazing but my favorite had to be Little League Home Run. I could not believe it was only 5.5% ABV. It packed so much flavor from Double Dry Hopping with an incredible mouth feel. What surprised me yesterday the most though is that they also brew other styles extremely well. Spring Break (their coffee stout brewed with Boon Boona Roastery coffee beans was phenomenal. Roll Call (Imperiod Stout with Cinnamon) is great as it is now but I think it has potential for even more greatness. If this beer ever gets the barrel treatment, I will be purchasing multiple bottles for the cellar. Service is top notch. Sample pours were provided on every beer with detailed information and explanations. Xu (Taproom manager/sales) is a true asset to the brewery. She is knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. The venue was not too big but it didn't feel small or anything. They have a large screen TV (they were showing the Mariners game) and they have an underground parking garage, which is super convenient and free! Very dog friendly too - in fact, there were about five dogs hanging out when we were visiting. This could be a good or bad thing for different folks but just letting you guys know that there will likely be dogs of all size when you visit. They offer what Xu calls Tavern Style pizza. They also allow outside food. Masonry next door is a full-service restaurant. So you won't need to worry too much about food. Highly recommended. Boy were we disappointed by the taproom. It seemed chaotic in the taproom because there were a lot of dirty glasses all behind the bar and on the bar top. It seemed slow when we got there. There was a birthday party but it seemed like they were just doing their own thing. It also seemed like the bartenders mom(?) was hanging out playing music on her laptop. Which was weird because the taprooms music was playing as well so it was interesting to listen to. Overall, we'd go check it out again to give it another try but maybe we'll just stick to masonry/to-go cans next time we want fast fashion beer.

From the outside it looks like they brew on-site, which they may, but they serve their lowlander beers in cans, not off tap, which seemed odd. Their food, in my opinion, was not great. The fries were just classic thick cut freezer fries, and the wings were a little soggy and lacked flavor. The buffalo was okay, but it, too lacked flavor, it was mainly just spice. The price was also high. We ordered wings, 1 order of fries, a sprite, and 1 IPA and our tab was $55. Just based off of food and drink selections, there's better options within a couple blocks.

I like sours, but these leaned towards the acidic notes of saisons quite a bit. Once a beer reaches a certain level of 'bitey' it's not really for me. They had a lot of offerings, and I got a flight. (I recently had some aged beer at Holy Mountain that had a similar issue for me.) Smoke Show Sour - I really like smoky things (Meats, cheeses, Lhapsong Souchong tea, etc.) but this went really hard into the smoke flavor. Not sure how that flavor was generated, but it tasted a lot like liquid smoke to me. It wasn't unpleasant per se, but it was not for me. I had a stout that was close to tasting like barleywine. I like a 10% stout generally, but anything heavier isn't for me. It ends up being a bit too much for me. I've had similar stouts at Matchless that I didn't end up liking in a similar fashion. Where does the bar of 'too strong flavor-wise' fall? Unsure, but it happens occasionally. I bought a bottle of a pluot sour that I haven't tried yet, but I have high hopes for it. I'll likely pop back in sometime to try different styles when they release them.
