For some of us, those dry, funky Belgians are where your palate finds home after trying every beer style. Only some of us, though. They can be hard to sell after a while, especially these days. So now the lineup here runs to lots of gorgeous, refreshing lagers, some explosively-flavorful hoppy stuff, and the occasional big chewy high-abv ale. For a saison whore like me, this is kinda like learning Michelangelo doesn't paint anymore, he just gets down with sculpture now. Not a tragedy by any means, but we still feel the absence. But why are saisons not the huge seller that IPAs are? Well, in part, 'cause old heads like me cut out beer. I did, anyway. I came out of retirement yesterday afternoon to try Nick's beers 'cause they had a Washington Cheese release event at the brewery yesterday. (Can't wait to try those, by the way). I checked out a landbier, german pils, west coast pils, and a hazy IPA. All wonderful, refreshing, and without flaw. We had a couple other beers at the table, along with a seltzer and wine. There's nothing here I wouldn't have again. The space is a good size--seating here, bar back there, brewhouse off to one side, more seating up the ramp in back. They had the Olympics on the flat screens and projector. There are board games and cards near the bar, and shuffleboard upstairs. This was another brewery before, and that brewery put in the shuffleboard table and at least some of the brew equipment. You can still see the name of the old brewery here and there. L&L is an even better source of beer IMO. Somewhat infamously, this space was also a funky dive bar and a, uh, gentleman's club in decades gone by. No trace of either of them remain. The folks who run this place are friendly and fun, and there aren't too many places making beer this good. They even have a great knack for designing cool labels (all done in house!). Highly recommended.

It was seat yourself when we went, and the server arrived within a couple of minutes. Beers were excellent. Food was pretty good, but I always find it frustrating to have to pay $5 extra for fries. Since that felt like a rip off, we opted for a veggie slider on the side instead, which was the same price. Veggie slider was really good, and the honey sriracha aioli, recommended by our server, was awesome. The fish sandwich was pretty tasty but much smaller than I was expecting, and felt expensive for the size and lack of side dish. We also got a bowl of vegetarian chili, which was good but not my favorite. Very smoky, the type of chili that is usually paired with barbecue. I just prefer my chili a bit more tomatoey, but I'm sure plenty of people like a smoky chili. There was a big group of people playing cribbage, which I thought was fun and charming! Lots of folks hanging out at the bar. Seems like a place that has lots of regulars. I'd come back!

I think the underlying (incorrect) assumption is that this is more like wework then REI. They have quite a bit of space inside plus a little bit of outside seating. Beers are pretty carried in style and quality as they're made by a bunch of different people. Overall it's a nice place for a drink while you're in the neighborhood

It's a great place for families in the afternoon and date nights in the evenings. We just had a beer to check this place out. Not a huge selection at this point but they also had cocktails on the menu. The menu states pizza coming soon but they had the usual burger and fries on the menu. I hope they will succeed as it is a nice space just across Green Lake. The challenge is parking around this area. We drove around for 10 minutes before we found a spot about a quarter mile away.

The open air seating is inviting, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it's an easy spot to spend a summer afternoon over a couple of beers. The beer got things off to a decent start. I tried the lychee sour, and while it wasn't anything I'd go out of my way to chase down again, it was refreshing with just enough tartness to keep the fruit in check. A perfectly respectable kettle sour. The smash burger, unfortunately, didn't follow suit. I'll admit I'm picky when it comes to smash burgers: they're one of my favorite things to eat, so I was excited the second it hit the table. It looked right. It smelled even better. The first bite just never lived up to the look or hopes I had for it. The patty had a nice crust but was noticeably dry, and there was so much aioli that it became the dominant flavor. The grilled onions were there, but they sat on top instead of being smashed into the beef while it cooked. That's one of those small details that gives a great smash burger its character, where the onions become part of the crust instead of just another topping. Here, everything felt disconnected. It wasn't a bad burger, but it never became more than the sum of its parts. If you're specifically craving a great smash burger, I'd still point you around the corner to Jellyfish. (Waaaay better!) The prickly pear margarita left me with much the same impression. It looked beautiful, especially with the Tajin rim, but the flavor leaned heavily toward bottled margarita mix. It was sweeter than I expected and never developed the brightness or freshness I look for in a margarita. One thing Easy Pace absolutely gets right is the service. Everyone we interacted with was warm and welcoming, and both our drinks and food arrived quickly. It's the kind of friendly, efficient service that makes a neighborhood spot easy to come back to, even if the food is weak. Easy Pace has all the ingredients of a place I'd love to have in the neighborhood. The patio is one of the better brewery spaces around Green Lake, the staff is welcoming, and the overall atmosphere makes it easy to settle in for an afternoon. I just hope the food eventually rises to the level of the space they've created, because based on this visit, that's the piece still missing. Super refreshing and not too much lemon flavor. #2 Death Rides A Horse, 5.0% An Italian Style Pilsner- From my notes, an excellent Pilsner. Freaking delicious. lol #3 OG Kush 5.2%, West Coast 420 Pale Ale. A bit too danky tasting but good. #4 Sunny Hills, 5.0% 6th Double Dry Hopped Italian Pilsner. Light, refreshing delicious. This is a little out of the way for me since Intake the bus so it was nice to visit with friends that drive. It's past and up a little from Fishermen's Terminal. First off the staff was extremely friendly. It is a large open space with tables abs counter tops. Also some outdoor seating. Vinyl collection for sale and a turntable playing music. I'm not a beer connoisseur but I know what I like and my friends was great at making suggestions. Believe I went with Television People. Also they had some and of Hildegard's Verditas Jun. Love Hildegard's stuff and with their recent closure of the beer side it was so nice to find these I hadn't had this and my friend got each of us a can. It was so refreshing and I enjoy low abv this was a 1.5. Loved the vibe and can see why my friends enjoy visiting here. Will be back.

Many of the unique flavors have been Asian influenced, and/or made with teas, both things I love. Sometimes they're a hit, and sometimes they're a miss. I recently tried their pickle beers: dill pickle, kimchi, and a pickled lime beer. Every single one tasted just like what was described, so they definitely delivered! The vibe here is nice- however, beer release days seem like any other day but with new beers, so it could be more festive (unless I'm showing up too early). They have a few board/card games to play, and there's a large outdoor patio if you prefer to sip outside. Service has been alright. Overall, I love their beer creativity so it keeps me coming back.
