The other times I ignored it, but when my kid's interest and obsession is dismissed, you'll end up with no customers. I know you have kids and wouldn't want them to be ignored, dismissed, or talked down to. My kid loved coming to this store but it's one of many, and last visit was our last. The owner has an attitude problem because one day he's all happy and acts like you're a family. And the next day he's rude and brushing off kids' questions and interests. We walked in a few minutes before closing. The man on staff (assuming he was the owner) was clearly perturbed. However, less than two minutes after walking in, the man says "we're closed now, you have to go." It was very uncomfortable and a bit sad for my daughter. I set the books down and we left. Granted, the man may have had plans. Maybe he was pressed for time? Or, he was just not very nice. are better ways to handle this situation. What is it about business owners that think they are doing customers a favor by being in business. If you're a comic book fan in Chicago's Northwest suburbs, I recommend you find another shop.

First, their store credit policy makes no sense: you can't use it on "premium" items, which defeats the purpose of having store credit at all. On top of that, when I sold them some premium Magic: The Gathering cards, the prices I was given were for the wrong versions. Because I had my three kids with me at the time, I didn't notice until later, but it felt dishonest and not worth the argument. What bothered me most, though, was how they treated me as a newer customer. I stood waiting for about 15 minutes with my kids while staff ignored me to casually chat and eat with tournament patrons who weren't even doing business at the time. They had recognized me, but still dismissed me while I was clearly trying to complete a transaction. It made me feel like my time -- and my business -- weren't valued. Most of the staff were nice, but the older bald gentleman was rude and dismissive, which really stood out. Between the poor credit rules, the card pricing issue, and the way I was treated as a customer, I can't recommend Thunder Comics. Having been in comics for 40 years, I'm tired of seeing shop owners who lack customer service. Even though he was willing to open them for me, I tend to buy dozens at a time and could potentially be at the register for 30 min while he opens them for me. I'm not looking for perfect customer service but there's a way to talk to people. He wasn't rude but had the personality of a rock. I'm in my 50's and don't appreciate being treated like a child. Put up signage if you don't want people to open the books. And how about a break it or buy it policy? Even though I handle the books better than most store owners, if I damage the book while examining it, I'll pay for it. You already got cameras on me so what's the problem. I won't be back. (Replying to the owner's reply: A better response would have been, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience and misunderstanding. I'll take your thoughts into consideration and strive to create a better experience for my customers. I knew what I wanted just didn't know where to start, but he ended up finding all the comics I was looking for. So recently I told my boyfriend that I wanted to go to a toy store. And yes, I did mean…read morecollectibles, action figures, and the like. He came up with WaxPax, which was really fun to explore! Clearly at one point it was a record shop (the name gives it away of nothing else), and there's still a case of them in the middle of the room, but it's been subsumed by the mass quantities of toys and memerobilia that are crammed into this small storefront! Got a cartoon, sci fi film or other cult classic that you like? Chances are they have something from it. (I even saw a Danger Mouse figurine...does anyone aside from me remember that show?!) Edge your way through the quagmire of collectibles and take your time looking! The only thing I didn't find that I was seeking? Micro Machines! (Not the Star Wars etc. ones; just the old school mini cars. They did have lots of Hot Wheels though.) This place was pretty crowded on a week-end (read: 5 or 6 customers at once, which given the space was practically overflowing). Worth a stop if you are nearby, or a trip if you are a big collector!
