If I could give a negative star review, I would. My daughter's car was towed here after a crack in…read moreher transmission when she was driving up in the area to do a side job (we live over 3 hours away). For the first 2 weeks, he would not return any calls. FINALLY he returned a call, and his exact words..."it takes too much work to put it up on the lift to see everything to make a list for insurance. Quite honestly, I think this is above my ability". We asked to get it towed somewhere else based on that info, and he said he was going to charge us for "storage", when he wouldn't even answer our calls or return them. The insurance appraiser showed up during his working hours that are posted on Google, but he was not there. He would do ZERO work prior to any $ being sent (let me add he only takes cash or a cashiers check). So on week 3, and after we paid for a new transmission and had it sent to him...as well as a $500 cashier's check for him to start the work...he "started" the job. Very hit or miss with conversations. He hung up on my mom (the grandmother of the driver) at one point because she demanded some answers. Over 6 weeks of working on the car...it cost us/insurance over $2,100 for him to "fix" the transmission. He is only open until 4 pm M-F and it said he was open on Saturday's. We said we would be up to pick it up on Saturday and he said he is not open on Saturday's and he hasn't gotten around to fixing the hours on Google. He then said he had an event all day on Saturday. We said we'd leave at 4 to be there by 7am to meet him prior to his event. He said "no"...I like to sleep in. The best I can do is 2. He then said he could do 11. We said we thought you had a morning event. He said, ok...I can do 10. It was lie after lie after lie. When we finally determined a time, he asked for cash. We said "no" (IRS may want to look into this dude). He asked for a picture of the check and said "it may be more"...we said "no" once again (as he told us it was and additional $730 balance numerous times). When we arrived, the place looks sketch (as an understatement). My husband (the step-dad) asked if he could take it for a drive around the block to make sure things were ok and so it would make it the 3:15 hour drive home. He refused until he had the check in hand. As I was waiting for my husband return, he said to his friend, "I need to go to the bank to deposit this before they make a big purchase. Good thing I verified this with the bank to make sure they had the funds". BEYOND disrespectful (considering it already was taken from the account). He also said the car wouldn't pass PA inspection and he saw other issues that he did not fix. We honestly didn't want him to, as a 4 hour job took him over 6.5 weeks to finish. My question is, if there was so much wrong with her vehicle and it isn't all fixed yet and it is not "reliable" to drive since the accident, why did he tell insurance it was "fixable" and why didn't he total the car? Why did he take on a job he was not capable of doing in a timely manner. It cost almost $1000 in Ubers during this time for my daughter (on top of the repair costs) and God knows how much more (because we need to take it to a MD mechanic that we trust). BEYOND DISAPPOINTED AND DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN WITH ANYTHING!!!! He will be reported to BBB and will also be getting reported to the insurance commission. Worst experience ever...like being in an accident isn't traumatizing enough. This made the experience even worse. I know I left out numerous details...but am hoping to save others from this hell of an experience.
