Stopped at the Sheetz in Scranton and ordered a cheesesteak sandwich with red onions and tomatoes. The bread was soft and warm, holding up well to the filling without getting soggy. The steak was tender and had good flavor, and the melted cheese pulled everything together. The red onions gave it a nice bite and the tomatoes added some freshness. For a gas station convenience stop, it was surprisingly satisfying. Ordering on the kiosk was quick and easy, and the food came out hot. Sheetz in Mt. Pleasant, Scranton is quickly becoming the most rude, obnoxious and unfriendly store. The weekend manager is a horribly rude person and should be FIRED immediately. He is very rude to the customers always rushing them outta the store. He tells them to hurry up and finish eating and to get out, if they're trying to drink a cup of coffee he tells them to take their coffee and get out. He is a very mean and arrogant person and if he is allowed to stay around, he's gonna cost Sheetz their customers and it's own reputation. read more

Ever heard of the Intra-Pennsylvania rivalry? It has always been there and represent the cultural faultlines in the keystone state. Commercial east, Industrial west, Appalachian West, Mid-Atlantic East. Philly versus Pittsburgh. Eagles versus Steelers, Flyers versus Penguins. The same faultlines can be seen in their sandwich/convenience store of choice. In Philly it's Wawa. In Pittsburgh it's Sheetz. The rivalry is definitely there, and everyone picks sides. When it came to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Sheetz is in Scranton while Wawa is in W-B. So what's the general gist? Sheetz started out life as a dairy/convenience store in Altoona (a small city that sat between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, formerly known as a major workshop town for the Pennsylvania Railroad) and grew steadily throughout Appalachia. It's a family company and gained fame recently from winning the legislative fight to sell beer and wine from its stores (for fucks sake don't buy wine here. It's like buying box wine from 7-Eleven. Seriously, if you are that thirsty, head 5 minutes up US-6 to hit Wegman's. If you buy and drink anything here you might as well drink the antifreeze in your car). The general layout of the store is that you have a bunch of automated kiosks to order from their list of offerings, none of which will push your culinary horizons. Think college cafeteria or local wings and beer joint, and there is a sit-in dining area. Your local Wawa's will have more choices, but it won't have a place for you to eat as there won't be a dining area. Both places will sell you gas (again, it won't be cheap - Gasbuddy almost never report the joints as being the cheaper option than its neighbors), now, as for giving you gas, that's what the food is for... So, how's the food? They are fresh, loud and pretty bad for you nutritionally speaking. It's subs, burgers, fried chicken bits, salads and etc. All are freshly made using pre-processed heat-and-eat ingredients. The fries were crisp, the cheese curds are squeaky, the po-boys are basically just chicken nuggets on a roll with cheese, old bay, slaw and some of that boom-boom sauce. My wife's burger was...hmmm...indifferent, a soft mushy affair that just tastes like nothing. The nachos were just like any implementation from your local cinema, except much less expensive. My wife ordered one (for god know why I'll never know) and it's simply something sad-looking and tasting. Well, I'll give them some credit where it's due, at least it's not that expensive. It was certainly nice avoiding the usual NYS Thruway service stations and its McDonalds/Arbys offerings, but if you want something else, hit Wawa's. I'll stop by again in the future, but probably not too soon. So yeah, so why do I suddenly have this great desire to wave a terrible towel down Broad Street in Philly flipping everyone the bird? Sheetz sells wine, that is all. Okay, that's not all they have, someone looked like they were getting gas and potato chips here too. I frequent this Sheetz when I driving from Long Island upstate because it's an easy exit off the highway and easy to return back on your journey after making the stop. They have tons of pumps, adequate parking, a big store with decent bathrooms (yes there are multiple stalls, amazing.) They have an assortment of drinks and snacks, a tiny baked goods section, some cut up fruit, cheese sticks, hummus and pretzels, protein bars like Quest, Kind and One bars. They have an area where you can order food to go like a sub, fries, pizza or burger. They have coffee, various slurpy type drinks and cappuccino dispensers. I often come here to get gas, use the restroom and grab a water bottle. This past time I came in here I wanted wine but the shop up the street had closed and I was surprised to see they had some here. The wine was absolutely garbage, seriously the worst Malbec I've ever had, Alamos '16 not good but hey it's wine and it did the trick one I got to my destination of course. Sheetz is what I would call gas station paradise. We ended up getting off the highway in Scranton looking for some gas and some food, luckily when you see a Sheetz you know you get both! After looking over the fantastic ordering screen I settled on the chicken po boy sub and a side order of three cheese mac n' cheese. Like all the other food you can get at Sheetz, the food here was fantastic (for what it is of course). Maybe I'm just a sucker for Sheetz but I'll keep coming here until the food stops being so good! read more

My husband and I always enjoy this place. It's a pretty nice concept they came up with you order your food out the cashier and get it this time of year they have the pumpkin shakes. Every time we travel I'm like where's the Sheetz at! It's like the QTS in Arizona only 100 times better with a larger menu and they have an ice cream station for the kids with at least 10 toppings in pretty impressed. read more

I love this place! I stop in every chance I get when I'm heading up or down from Buffalo to NYC. Their facilities are clean and their staff are personable plus their food ordering kiosks work great... punch in what you want, no fuss, no mistakes! I also grab a parfait/yogurt which they've got for awhile or smoothie which they've added to the menu recently. They're both good choice too. read more

This past Friday the people in this store allowed a man to be jumped assaulted and robbed by 4 or 5 people right in front of their door and neither called police or offered assistance to the victim. As a result I will no longer ever patronize another Sheetz and I would be careful about going to this sheetz, its in a bad area in Scranton and should you be the next to be assaulted and robbed everyone will go on as if everything is hunky dory. read more

Just went there today for the first time and I will never return. I ordered an app platter at 8:03pm and I did not receive my food until 8:23pm. It was a 20 minute wait when it should've been a 5 minute wait. What also pissed me off is that there were people who ordered after me but got their food before me! Sheetz is my go-to store on road trips and for drunk munchies. The MTO (Made to Order) food is better than most chain restaurants and they always get your order right. Ah Sheetz....never have I dreamed there could be a gas station so inviting. Drink and slushy selections second to none. Snacks of every variety, size, and rarity (like one of my fav's Herr's Grilled Cheese Curls). Huge clean bathrooms with jet engine powered hand dryers. Nifty touch-screen food ordering system called Made To Order (MTO) with delicious well priced fair and selections using awesome ingredients like Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce and real lavash bread for their grilled chicken caesar wrap which I highly recommend. Their fries are off the hook as well. They've got lots of other convenience items that you wouldn't expect as well as ice cream. Their gas is comparably cheap and there are many pumps to accommodate many patrons. Some like this location have a great one car automatic car wash. This is the Scranton area we are talking about folks and when it comes to gas stations this one is my El Dorado that must be visited if in the area. read more
