My almost 80 year old mother cut her arm and I rushed her to FastMed, only for them to be closed (they close at 8 and we arrived by 7:30). The only other option was the ER, where the wait would have been hours. Not to mention all the airborne illness she's exposed to while waiting for care. This is completely unacceptable! This area could benefit from a stand alone ER center open 24 hours a day, which would help alleviate the cases over at First Health's ER and hopefully shorten wait times. Went in because I was having a allergic reaction to something I ate, my face was completely swollen and throat was closing up. They refused service unless I paid $700 up front. I left and went to the UNC right down the road, as soon as I walked through the door the lady came around the counter and took me right back without asking me any questions or requirements for anything because she could clearly see it was an EMERGENCY. The care is not as personable as I need it to be. I came in for vertigo and they ran test. They told me all clear. I look at urinalyses and it showed two abnormal test. They never mentioned it. Just because it's not what I came in for, if you see something let a patient know!! read more

Terrible and rude service. A big sign on the window says "Walk-ins welcome" but I've watched them tell three people they need an appointment because they're short-staffed. I've been sitting here an hour just to provide a pre-employment urine specimen. This is my second visit. The first one I was turned away because of "staffing" even though no other patients were there. It was 7pm and the staff just wanted to wind down without having to do anything else. They "didn't have time to do a urine collection" even though they don't close until 8. Nothing but bad service and excuses from this place. I had a simple UTI. Made an appointment at 1:45 online. Completed all the paperwork online ahead of time. It is now going on 3:15 and I still haven't been seen by a provider. I went with a sore throat, was told it was North Carolina allergies and to take Claritin and Flonase. I did that for 4 days and wound up with a sinus infection. I made a 10:30 appt and went back. Yikes, Think twice, Think three x's, better yet, take my word for it & just don't go there. Front check in attendant notified me immediately that she did not want to be there, she was sick, with chills, felt nauseous & could hardly hold her head up. Same attendant Informed the fella who came in 10min after the same thing. Waited in the front waiting area for 30 min (for an appointment that anywhere else would have been 15min. In & out) with no patients ahead of me nor (come to find out) in the back either. After 30 min I called to the back for the individual "manning" the front desk, & let her know I had an appointment that I would be late for if I couldn't be seen in the next 10min. They proceeded to get snippy & after 10min LaKeesha I believe her name to be appeared at the front desk & inquired if someone else had just come in the front door. I confirmed that no one else had entered after the fella behind me who was now sound asleep across the waiting area. I immediately enquired again & asked if I should just come back later, & with that LaKeesha turned on her heal & snipped back over her shoulder that she's "working on your paperwork." Just unnecessarily rude attitude overall, the facility was dirty, I took pics to prove it, just a bad experience in its entirety. Now I'm sneezing & feel like I'm coming down with something. On Nov 11, my husband went to the FAST Med in Aberdeen, NC. He informed them that his visit was to be billed to the VA since he is a service-connected disabled vet. The receptionist didn't say anything, so he thought all was good. He was seen by a PA who spent less than 15 minutes with him. In Dec we received a bill for $270!!! For a PA visit. My husband went to the Aberdeen office to tell them this was supposed to billed to the VA, like he told them in Nov. This is when he was informed they don't do VA or ANY military coverage. We then called billing on Dec 29th, Jan 3rd and Jan 9th, each time leaving a voice message. As of today, Jan 15th we still have not heard from FAST Med. Our issues: 1. Not informed that they would not bill the VA. He would have gone elsewhere had he known this. 2. They charge more to see a PA than I get charged to see my rheumatologist, an actual doctor!! 3. If they accept Medicare, we should not be billed more than Medicare.Which based on my actual doctor's billing shouldn't have exceeded $85 4. Unresponsive billing department. We want this billed lowered to a more reasonable amount, like what Medicare pays. Since we couldn't reach billing to do this in a more private setting, we are left with making this a public issue. Jan 15th Posted complaint on their Facebook page. Jan 16th private message that they had escalated this issue and then, nothing further. Jan 23rd Posted again to Facebook that I had heard nothing from escalation and continued silence. Jan 29th Received a second billing from them. They don't seem to have any problems getting those bills mailed out do they. read more

They walked away from me at the front desk when I asked for a code listed itemized bill for service to provide to my insurance co. The lady at the desk kept referring to she is not here, would tell me who she was what her managers name is or anyone there who could give me the receipt I am entitled to. I had already explained I spent an hour on the phone with national billing and countless emails. She claimed she was not fastmed. She had no one I should talk to. Since this was the closet urgent care facility near me on my way home from work, I thought I would try it out. Came inside and was informed there was a 3 hour wait but I could sign up for a text message reminder closer to my "appointment time." I thought, ok I'll try it out. Come back three hours later and check in 10 minutes prior to my "appointment" as instructed. I only waited in the waiting room for about 15 minutes before being pulled into an exam room. The triage nurse or CNA apologized for my wait and said the doctor was finishing a procedure next door. She offered me magazines to read which I thought was a nice gesture but now realize she was telling me to get comfortable. An hour and 20 minutes later I was finally seen. The only thing that saved a star was the fact that the PA was friendly. Felt bad for her as she said she was the only provider in the clinic and we were already over an hour past their closing time. So quick summary: Checked in at 4:30 Returned as directed at 7:20 Pulled to exam room at 7:45 Left at 9:15 Never again. And definitely wouldn't recommend. read more

Let me start out by saying I would never go out of my way to bad mouth any sort of establishment unless I had an absolutely horrible experience. Anytime I have a questionable experience 9/10 times I blow it off because I understand there are so many factors, people have off days, stuff happens, whatever the case may be. The only reason I would even give this place 1 star is because the front desk staff and the nursing staff were extremely nice. With that being said, the PA on staff that day, I believe his name was Marcus Cox had to be the rudest, most condescending provider I have ever experienced. I came in last week, one week post op from a tonsillectomy and was having severe, SEVERE pain in my throat unlike the pain everyday prior to that and was feeling like something could be wrong. I came to the urgent care to make sure everything was okay/ I didn't have an infection, since my specialist is all the way in Raeford and not wanting to pay the huge deductible at Moore for their ER if everything was actually okay. This particular PA interacted with me for MAYBE 2-3 minutes total. As soon as he entered the room his demeanor was off and being in the medical field as well I quickly realized he was treating me as I was drug seeking (assuming because my chief complaint was the increase in pain). I told him my worries about possible infection and that I wanted him to see if my scabs were falling off prematurely. Every question he asked me, I responded, and that response was met with some sort of eye roll and head nod. He looked into my mouth with a pen light for a second if that, and immediately claimed I had thrush based on the white residue, which is completely normal after this surgery. I knew his diagnosis was incorrect so I asked him if he would look again. He did no further assessment to see if there was anything abnormal other than that initial split second look, and did not address my pain. He handed me a prescription for an anti fungal oral medication and ibuprofen (which is insulting if you know anything about pain medications normally given after these procedures), handed me discharge paperwork, walked out of the door, and that was it. No explanation, no follow up, no recommendations to see my specialist, nothing. Not even 30 minutes after leaving that urgent care my scabs completely came off, I was bleeding profusely from my mouth and immediately had to go to the ER. Where they told me definitively, I did not have thrush, I had a moderate bacterial infection near the incisional sites, and I had been having slow prolonged bleeding prior to this that should have been noticed during the exam at this urgent care because it could have led to hemorrhage. I'm disgusted at not only how I was treated personally there by this so called health "professional", but by how little he listened to my concerns and how unacceptable his assessment of a patient should be considered. It was half-assed, insulting, and poor, lazy practice. If there was somewhere I could file a formal complaint against this person I would. If anyone has any information on how I could do so, I would be all ears. People go into those places because they are feeling so incredibly bad physically and the LAST thing they need to deal with is a person who's supposed to be helping them, treating them like they are an idiot and giving sub par medical care. read more

The business model may be a quick alternative to ER wait times, but unfortunately it failed. I noticed a response that said the average ER wait time was 4 hours - not in NC. According to a watchdog group the longest average wait time in NC is 72 min. First Health in Pinehurst is 35 minutes. I brought my wife in to FastMed we waited 3 HOURS and 4 minutes to be seen. Perhaps a more accurate business name would be WAITMED or SLOWMED. I was surprised just how slowly patients went through there. On a positive note, the receptionist Claudia was very nice. I'm not sure if it's a management issue or a staffing issue, but if you choose this location prepare for an extremely long wait. read more

The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because I loved the front desk lady, she was very courteous and kind. Other than that not happy with the PA I saw at all! My mother had come with me, and whenever we got in the car she asked me what they prescribed me and was irate when found out that they have me no prescription(since she knows the problems I've had with my ears throughout my life). My left ear has been throbbing almost all week. I've had severe ear infections ever since I was a toddler. The PA said that my canals looked very inflamed. All she did was recommend that I get Sudafed and maybe some Robitussin. I told her how it was hard for me to open my jaw all week to eat. Also that my throat was feeling a bit scratchy(she never even looked at it). She started backing up towards the door after about 2 minutes of being in the room with me. It felt like she was almost scared of me and couldn't stand to be around me. This was my SECOND unsatisfactory visit, I guess I should've learned from the first visit. On my first visit here, I had already known I had severe carpal tunnel before going here. So bad that I screamed and cried in the room when she had my put my hands in a prayer pose with my elbows up. I told her how severe my pain was on top of this, that I could barely function without having my hands go numb, sleep longer than an hour, or preform at work. She prescribed me steroids and gave me wrist braces without giving me anything for the pain until I asked about it. Then she gave me the weakest of pain medication. I didn't care I just needed something to help the pain go away for a few days. It just bothered me how she had seen that I was in that much pain and didn't offer anything to ease it without me asking. I won't be going here again and I'll be telling everybody that I know go elsewhere! read more

We were in and out in 35 minutes on a Friday evening. First the front desk staff was very nice but it took an hour for the MA to call me back. There seems to b only 1 provider working today. Not good. I can here everything being said about patients info from my room. 30 minutes hv pasted by n I'm still waiting to see the provider. Overall not good.
