We had a good old-fashioned family afternoon/night out this past week before Christmas. First, bowling in Channahon. Then, Fat Boys in Minooka. The interior of Fat Boys has changed, maybe a while ago. Gone are the red plastic booths straight out of a 90s-era high schooler hangout. Now, single occupant chairs and a more modern (but also plain) feel make up the seating area. I liked the previous design more. That said, there's one small room in the very back that is a terrific dining nook. Lock down the lone table in this space if you go! It's a warm and classy environment mixed with the bright lights of gaming machines. None of this matches the restaurant's otherwise mundane interior. The pizza here is outstanding, and reasonably priced. I definitely recommend a thin crust. Pepperoni, yes! They got it just. High praise for taste and value. I figured I'd try the pizza again, so I ordered it on two different nights...one a medium pepperoni and one a medium sausage supreme. Both times the cheese had a funny aftertaste. I'm not sure if it's fake or if they mix it with a cheese other than mozzarella. I love cheese, but theirs is awful. The supreme was all dough and little sauce. The pepperoni was as thin as a saltine cracker, dry and cold when I picked it up (on time). My guess is someone else didn't show up and I got a pizza that had been sitting awhile. 2 stars for the pizza. The flavor combo of the Theo pizza we had was good, however execution of the pizza was horrible. The crust was so crispy on the outside. Yes that is typically of a thin crust pizza, however the center of the pizza was tough. Also the chicken was over cooked. THE WORST PART. When we first walked in no one was there to greet us. We saw someone at the bar and walked over there. We walked past someone who later I noticed was an employee. No acknowledgement from him. I'm assuming it was the owner at the bar. It was like we were interrupting what he was doing. It's not our fault no one noticed us. Totally blowing us off even though we told him we have never been there he still didn't point us in the correct direction. They have such great specials but I can now see why the place was a ghost town. read more

They're gluten free pizza crust is outstanding no matter what you top it with. Every time I order the food is hot and prompt even for delivery. Annnnd the delivery driver I've had almost every time, a very nice guy, is fabulous. I have dogs and baby and a sign to not ring my bell or knock on door, he always remembers me and calls when he arrives! read more

This follow-up review isn't so much about Fat Boyz (I still think they are awesome), but I just felt I had to say something regarding the other review they've received here....... Lately, everywhere you go, it seems that Customer Service has taken a tremendous nose-dive. The customer is no longer right and our loyalty to a certain brand or store means nothing anymore. This is why I'm baffled that Johnny T would feel "weirded out" over the exceptional customer service shown by the owner of Fat Boyz. I, personally, have never met the owner as we prefer to have our food delivered, but based on Johnny T.'s description, I believe it'd be a positive experience. I guess there's a reason Fat Boyz is doing well even with the economy being what it is........going that "extra mile" for your customers speaks volumes. : ) Reading Johnny T.'s description of the owner only ensures my continued loyalty to Fat Boyz. We ordered takeout pizza and garlic bread. We usually order from Rosati's but wanted to give the local "mom and pop" a try. We weren't impressed. The "garlic bread" was an untoasted (cold) roll cut in half with a stingy smear of butter and no garlic anywhere. The pizza was stone cold - we actually had too re-cook it in our oven. We only live five minutes away so there was no reason for it to be cold. Yuck. read more

Fat Boyz is by far the best pizza place in Grundy County. They have a balanced blend of cheese and sauce, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere. It reminds me of eating pizza at home back in the 70's. Free self-serve refills on soda and iced tea add to a nice small town experience that you will definitely want to include on any trip to Minooka. Prices are very reasonable (esp. on half-price pizza on Tuesdays) and we've never left there hungry. read more

Unpleasant first time experience. To start off, when I called, the guy that took out order sounded like he had better intentions than working at a pizza joint and was rude and kept asking "What?" like he couldn't hear me and he was agitated. I thought that was rude and disrespectful. We presumed to order a taco pizza and it was outrageously expensive. When it came the sausage looked like little burnt mouse turds and tasted horrendous. Go to Casey's. And then to top it all off they don't even give you any salsa, taco sauce, or sour cream. We called them back and they were even more rude on the phone. Anyone who is thinking about trying to have an easy pizza night, just make dinner at home, I promise you it will be cheaper and easier. I learned my lesson and am boycotting this Fat Boy that started this all! read more

Their pizza is awesome and so are their boneless BBQ wings! They are the BEST I have ever had!! I just moved to Oregon now and I'm so sad I won't have the wings until I go back and visit. The wings are fresh, smothered in BBQ sauce, and cooked perfectly. Every time we ordered these (About 5 different times) they were absolutely perfect. And you can tell the quality because the chicken just melts in your mouth and there's no fat whatsoever.. They are straight chunks of heaven! I would rather have their wings over, buffalo wild wings, pizza hut, or any other pizzeria in the area!! Give them a try, I know you will not regret it!! read more

Been several times and always amazing service. They go out of their way to make you happy. Truly good people and really want to make it. We have been in for lunch and they have several pizza's by the slice you can choose from. You can get 2 slices with a pop very reasonable. Many other choices for lunch as well. My grandkids always go for the pizza so I have not made it past the pizza. A must try though. read more

We are really big foodies, and it is no fun trying to find a good pizza sandwich place in a small town. Fat Boys is about a 6 in a ten scale the only thing that turned us off from here was our last visit. We ordered a lot of food, we figured it would be around $80. Instead it came to almost $20 more! So kind of a difference . They had changed the menu since our last visit , that was no problem ; however they could have taken a couple dollars off, or even offered free delivery...just saying. read more

I'm a long haul truck driver and found myself just down the street picking up my load. I ordered a large with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and onions. Got carryout from there when I first moved in the area about 4 years ago. The beef sandwich was ok. Their pizza had a sweet taste to it which I've never had before. The owner is so nice to his customers that it kind of freaked me out of going back. The owner, from what I hear, is a very generous man who's always helping out our community. However, the two times I was there, he would say "Here's your pizza, I made it special for you." along with a wink that, as much as I feel bad admitting, made me feel weird. read more

We love ordering out and used to order for Fat Boyz often, despite them frequently messing up our order in some way or another. What really pissed us off is how the owner/manager treated us. We ordered two large pizzas along with some drinks, which the owner took our order due to Fat Boyz being so busy. When we received our delivery, we realized we received a pizza entirely wrong. When calling Fat Boyz about it, they said we could be credited for the pizza. When attempting to order from them again, a girl answered (who sounded and appeared to be new) and she kept putting us on hold. When asking to talk to the manager/owner, the manager/owner refused to talk to us and instead talked through this young girl. We cancelled this potential order stating we don't want our food to now be messed with and the girl replied, "OK, bye". To the owner/manager: Grow some balls and learn how to run a business!!! We will no longer be ordering from Fat Boyz and highly suggest others to find a place with better service. read more

I love pizza and have tried every pizza place here in Minooka. I have lived in this town for the past 13 years. No one can top Fat Boyz. Alex is the owner and my daughter and I are always pleased to see him. He has given my daughter free pop and me a free beer many times. He is not a chain but a one pizza shop owner who does everything he possibly can to make you experience a good one. Remember it's him versus all the other pizza chains in minooka and chanahon. As for that comment about him being weird for giving a wink, that's just his way. Here is a prime example of his personality and attitude: in 2006 I had just bought a new black explorer sporttrac. In Minooka at a light I get bumped pretty hard from a guy behind me. I get out to go see this person and it was Alex. He deeply apologized and offered to take care of all damages. But there was only a small scrape which I did buff out later. I told him to not worry. He offered some free pizzas for my daughter and I. Well, it ended up that for a month that everytime we ordered we would walk out with over $60 of free food! I told him to stop because I felt like I was taking advantage of his kindness. I can't say enough wonderful things about Fat Boyz. I just chaired a very large event that Fat Boyz catered and it was fantastic. Food was great and service was outstanding. I fed 400 people (Dad's and Daughters) without blinking an eye. This is the second time that I have worked with Carrie, the owner, and she is an great help. Her workers are great! They helped her bring everything in, helped us set up, stayed to make sure we were good to go. It was just perfect. I highly recommend Fat Boyz Pizza for anything. read more
