We catered through Cemeno's for brunch options for a Baby Shower last weekend and it was flawless! Some of our items are from the new Cemeno's at the Park on Jefferson St, but there isn't a Yelp page set up yet for that restaurant. We also got some pasta from Cemeno's as well! Everything was amazing and guests really enjoyed the food! There were so many bagel options and cream cheeses to choose from. (An interesting one was Carrot Jalapeño) By the end of the party, everything was eaten or packed up in our guests to-go boxes. Everything was delicious, packaged nicely, and ready to go for pick up early in the morning! We will continue to cater through Cemenos as always. :) read more

Went there again with a group of friends so I had no choice. Got spaghetti and meatballs. It was fantastic. Sauce was great. Noodles were soft. Meatballs tasty. Nice size side salad and artisan breadsticks. Still can't speak about the pizza, but pasta was on point. Also, I didn't see a CC surcharge. Hmmm. Maybe a change heart. My mom passed away last March and her and her friends always met here once a month. I decided on this place and paid so much money to seat 50+ people because I wasn't sure how many would show up. We were crammed at the seams and I only had around maybe 55 people! Dishes didn't seem clean food was mediocre. My friend bought cookies for the end and it was like they forgot about them people were leaving before they came out and when they did they came out burnt! Truly disappointing. I for sure will not no back here or host anything else. The price is not worth the service given!!!! In fact someone was going to host an event here a few months later and I talked them out of it! Not sure if this was a bad day for Cemenos but we have been patronizing them (that's including their previous locations)for over 40 years and this is the First time we were very disappointed. Came in for lunch and ordered soup, salad and a Calabrese. Soup and salad were great. The Calabrese was an issue. The server described all three kinds and hubby told her he liked the cheeses in the spinach Calabrese but did not like spinach, could he get sausage instead of spinach. Sure! Ok. She then confirmed the order saying you want spinach right? He said no I WANT sausage no spinach. As she is walking away she says spinach right? hubby says No spinach I WANT sausage. The Calabrese comes out looks great but is full of spinach! Tell server who gets all flustered and goofy and she takes it to the owner who completely deconstructed it to show us the sausage crumbles. And hubby says I said no spinach, I can't eat this. So did we want it remade or a gift card? We decided give us the gift card so we can leave. Gift card was $10! We get the bill for soup, salad and ALSO that Calabrese charge of $22.88 was on it!. The manager comes over and says she can take $10 off that $22.88. I said why do I need to pay ANY amount for a Calabrese that we did Not eat or even have? She says, with a completely blank look, well then use that $10 gift card towards it. Now, yes I am really peeved. I say if I have to pay for one then make me one. good grief now we have to wait for that. So then they made one correctly. Which we then paid for. We don't eat here a lot, but the pizza has always been amazing...until recently. We ordered 2 pizzas for pickup and brought them home. First thing we noticed...they were both overcooked. The sausage actually had black char marks on it. Biting in we noticed a distinct lack of sauce AND cheese. Overall it's was very dry. We also had Greek salads which were good, but it's hard to mess up a salad. My father in law (who was eating with us) told us that the last few pizzas he's had were also "overcooked" and dry. Not sure what's going on...new cooks? New ovens? New recipe? Whatever it is, the quality is definitely slipping. By far the worst pizzas we've ever had from here. Made a reservation for my birthday. Dialed the number for the Banquet room. Someone from there called me back and even confirmed with me I didn't want the skybox only the banquet side. Went and they sat us in the skybox I told the waitress no I requested the banquet side. She told me they can't do that that it is a $200 charge to have it not in the skybox. Shocked that gratuity was already added as an item "1 gratuity" and half faded off my receipt. The waitress did not point it out and I added an additional $50 to the check for the tip so the waitress received 40%. We came here a couple of weeks ago on a Monday night. It was busy but not too busy, and we were seated almost immediately. I really liked the vast menu. We didn't get pizza, but got a couple of different pasta dishes, an Italian beef sandwich, salads, ranch fries and bruscetta. Everything was really good! The bruscetta is different, heavy on the basil but deliciious. I had a small spinach salad and it was so good. I also tried the baked mostaccioli which was excellent. While I will start by saying the food within this restaurant was not bad... the treatment of employees I witnessed while being in this establishment was nothing short of horrible. I was seated in the "bar" portion of this restaurant where I had full view of the host all night. This young woman was expected to stand for hours on end with nowhere to sit. As a former restaurant owner I think this place should invest in a better solution for their employees. This is outstanding Chicago style pizza with traditional thin crust and delicious Italian ingredients. If you can make thin crust correctly, that's the absolute foundation of an excellent pizza. The service is friendly, accommodating but not overbearing. Our waitress was lovely. Pizza that made Chicago famous worldwide is available right here at Cemeno's.
