Went for lunch on west street today, ordered a couple of salads and a 14 inch pizza with pep,mush, and onions. Since we were sitting by the doorway to the kitchen I noticed that when our pizza was done the waitress informed the girl that made the pizza that it only had onions on it, missing the other two items. The girl took the pizza that was already cooked and put pep and mush on top and stuck it back in the oven. The pepperonis were burned and the pizza overcooked. Unsure why they have changed things, but their sauce used to be amazing as well as their crust. The last 2 times we have dined in and bought take n bakes, the sauce is completely different and the crust is sooooo thick it's almost a pan pizza. This was my favorite pizza place growing up here in Lima. Moved away over 20 years ago but try to have when I'm back in town. Last year when I was home for the holidays we ordered a pizza got it home and it was burnt. Could believe they would even give the pizza to use like that. I went to Fat Jack's Pizza for a carry out order. First time I ordered. It was a 2 topping pizza... black olives and banana peppers. They told me they were out of banana peppers and would put peperoncini on it. Ok but they did not tell me that they were spicy hot. I have kids at home. We couldn't even eat it. So many of them on the pizza. My son-in-law likes hot but he couldn't take it either. I also ordered chicken wings, they were out of mild sauce and told me all they had was hot. I ask them if they were really hot and was told no. Which they were right about that. But I also tried to order celery with it .. no celery. On there website it had add celery for a certain amount. I do no think I'll ever go back. I'll stay with Padrone's in Pandora. I was just in Lima that day and thought I would give Fat Jack's a try. read more

Fat Jack's Pizza is hard to describe. It's like a robust thin crust: crispy, yet loaded with cheese and toppings. The sauce really is a non-factor, but the pizza gets along just fine without gobs of tomato sauce. I initially wasn't into the place, as it shares a building with a convenience store. When I walked in the door, three employees just stared at me. I stared back. Finally, one said, "Sit anywhere." So I grabbed a seat toward the back, next to a TV showing the NASCAR race. (Yes, I kinda like NASCAR. Shut up.) A server, Kimmy, soon was with me, and she was wonderful. Kimmy patiently waited while my co-diner returned from the restroom, then suggested a special that could accommodate the two of us: a 14" two-topping pizza with a pitcher of beer for $14.99 ($12.99 if you order soda instead). Outstanding! Fat Jack's even allowed us to select our individual two topping for each half of the pizza. I had pepperoni and mushroom; she had banana peppers and sausage. Both were outstanding. With beer finished and race complete, we packed up the remaining four slices. I'm chowing on them now. They're good cold but were better straight from Fat Jack's oven. Another great feature is Fat Jack's hours: open until 1 a.m. six days and week and midnight on Sundays. Coupled with a wide beer selection in a town that goes to bed early, that's a godsend. read more

Fat Jack's is my favorite pizza, hands down. I moved to Texas 20 years ago, and make sure to fit in a few (or more, but who's counting?!) visits to FJ every time I come to town. I moved away from Ohio years ago and only get Fat Jack's when I am visiting my mother. For the most part, the pizzas of this place fit in within the regional style. It isn't cut into triangles like other regions do. It is a round pizza cut into squares. It isn't really influenced by the Chicago style; so, it isn't a thick deep dish. It is a flat thin Sicilian influenced crust. I have been to other pizza places in the region, and they are all similar in this style. What Fat Jack's seems to have over some of their competitors is that some of them are either over cooked or under. Fat Jack's seems to work on consistent cook, but they also seem to be working on their quality, because the quality of their pizza has improved over what I had here last year. read more

Fat Jacks Pizza, use to be the very best in the land. It's still good pizza, but not as good as in years past. Lima is lucky when it comes to pizza. We have always had great pizza, and great hot and cold subs, from the time I was a kid in the 50's and 60's. All those places are long gone. Fat Jacks, is the only pizza that is close to that style. Fat Jack's Pizza is by far the best pizza I have ever had in the 36 years I have been on God's green Earth. I have lived in several major cities and several states, but by far Fat Jack's is my first stop whenever I come home to visit my mother and sister. I love their pizza so much that I make sure my mom brings me two pies whenever she comes down to visit her grandsons. I have the fondest of memories of Fat Jacks as a kid, going there after every little league game, and every weekend in high school. I remember saving my money through the week as a kid so I could bye a 6 inch pie as a youngster with one of the locations being in my neighborhood. I also pass along to every one of my students that leave our high school in WV and are going up to Lima to attend UNO to make sure to stop at Fat Jacks for the best pizza they will ever have. read more
