Came here to celebrate a family member's birthday. We were visiting from out of town and wanted to celebrate in a sit down restaurant. We ordered appetizers and entrees. We were sat outside in the patio which was nice with the open room and the only one in the area. It wasn't to hot to be outside. The fried food in the appetizers were delicious, the breading had good seasoning and was crispy. The fried ravioli were very delicious and had a good pull. The cheese puff had a nice quick to it. Everyone got something different and enjoyed their meal. I am vegetarian and ordered Mac n cheese which comes with bacon and ham and unfortunately they first made it with the meat on it. Luckily the waitress notice and told them, but my meal came out after everyone was done eating. The mac n cheese pizza had a good pull and it held on nicely, but my only complaint was that the pizza didn't have any seasoning. The dough was missing something. Went on Memorial Day.....great promo....BOGO burger. Drank a couple of beers waiting for order. Bar maid was very rude......placed order....bugers were well done when requested Medium. We stopped at the Beer Barrel on our way home from a long trip. We were seated immediately and our server took our drink order. (Let's call her server A). Dad ordered the Lasagna and side salad with thousand island dressing and water. I ordered the Italian Sub with chips and a Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin beer and water. After a long wait, a different server (let's call her server B) came to the table and said "could you remind me what you ordered". Several minutes later server B brought dad's salad. Several minutes later the Han this, Server A (who had walked past 2-3 times since server B had reordered our food), saw my beer was 2/3 empty and asked if I wanted another. Mind you, she never apologized for losing our order or even faked a sign of shock at the length of time we had been sitting without having received our orders. My dad finished his salad, I finished my beer. Server A then approached the couple seated in the booth behind me dad and sat down, proceeding to complain about how she was so busy all day. I went to the restroom. Server A was still seated at the neighboring booth when I returned. There was no food at our table yet either. We left. I didn't approach Server A nor did she approach us as we stood up to leave (she was seated facing our direction). As a 20 year veteran server in family style restaurants and corporate restaurants alike, Server A's complete lack of regard or respect for us was very disappointing. She should not be in this line of work. At best, she is better suited to hosting or bussing. I wouldn't even trust her to be a food runner. read more

My wife and I visited Beer Barrel on Dixie Highway. Everything was excellent. our server Yaz was thee best ! Very personable and took the best care of us ! My partner and I stopped here during a quick trip through Lima. What an awesome spot. The restaurant is big, open and beautiful! We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by very friendly bartenders who took great care of us. The Happy Hour menu is full of great deals and great food. We both had a couple beers. We ordered some cheese curds as an appetizer, which were awesome! Then the Pepperoni and Parmasano happy hour pizza. The pizza was delicious! Nice thin crust and lots of pepperoni and gooey cheese. Took me a while to get to this review, and ultimately its going to be a negative one. It saddens me, because I know a bunch of locals who rave about Beer Barrel and told me to come for great service and good pizza. My family and I came one weekend, a while ago for some food. We were quickly sat down. Now, the first strike against them was the windowsill next to us was rather dusty. I have a thing about restaurants needing to be clean and yeah that may sound minor but it all adds up. We ordered the Spinach and artichoke dip... which was really good. We also ordered drinks, my brother had a beer so nothing special. I ordered a Mud Slide and my mom ordered a Pina Colada. Both drinks were perfectly made! We also ordered some buffalo wings, which were serviceable. Still this part of the experience was the highlight of our meal. We all ordered our main courses. My mom had spaghetti and meatballs. My brother and I ordered each a 10 inch big-ga meatza pizza. I think my brother added something on his but don't exactly remember. So the food took quite a while to make... know it may take a while but it felt like 30 minutes or more... problem was... i got my pizza, my mom got her spaghetti... my brother did not. Seems that order was not put in. Yeah... so my brother got to watch us eat while he had to wait for his food. By the time he got his pizza, we were finished. The pizza also was rather dense... too dense. My mom did not like her meatballs. The experience was a mess. The waitress and manager both tried to make it right. They comped something on our order, and offered to buy us something else but honestly we just wanted to go home. Nice portions! The lemon vinaigrette is pretty good with both salads. Chicken must always accompany hot sauce of some sort, so I opted to try the parmesan garlic (add the habanero) and the mango habanero. Really good. Their wings are tasty, and the pizza is loaded. We stopped by the Beer Barrel for a lunch in a large group. Beer Barrel offers a rather large menu, with plenty of appetizer and entree options. We started with the pretzel sticks and they were solid. I really enjoyed the spicy whole grain mustard dipping sauce with my pretzels. The others in my party had the spinach and artichoke dip and were happy too. I tried the deep dish pizza with EBA (everything but anchovies). The pizza was good without being spectacular. The crust was just on the dry side and the toppings were a touch soggy. Still, the sauce and toppings felt fresh and my partner was happy with his slices. Waited an hour for pizza and chicken and a oven baked sub: ALL COMPLETELY COLD. 45$ garbage essentially, management couldn't be bothered to even come to my table and see what the problem was, even though the restaurant was half empty. Manager had the audacity to tell me it was "their busy hour". Nothing against my server, their job is to do what's told. Management there couldn't care less (particularly the floor manager scheduled 3-9-25 night shift 7pm). . Avoid the place, take a different exit. It's your typical sports bar with pretty good food. It's one of the better American traditional style restaurants in Lima.

It has been a while since I have had Beer Barrel pizza and it still tastes the same as the last time we came thru Lima. I personally like it better than the other pizza place in town. The dough is great tasting as well as the topping they use. I will be back to this place for sure. read more

Well, it was bound to happen. Visit number 5 (3/7/21 @ 11:30) and we encountered a less than personable server named Tiffany. Just no personality. She provided "acceptable" service but that was it. It was weird from the beginning. We arrived before they were busy to ensure a table for 6. There were ample tables available and the hostess asked if we would like to sit in the enclosed patio. Why would we want that when we go there for the ambience and especially when they weren't even busy yet. Had to scratch my head on that one. The pizza and garlic knots were spectacular as always, but the server and hostess overshadowed what is normally a fun time with their poor hospitality. read more

This was our once a week place to go until today. I really hope the government doesn't do a check unexpectedly. Sat at the bar making sure we had space between us and other people. A guy sits next to my boyfriend and is Inches away from him. Pulls out his "chew" and made a "spit cup". Bartender says nothing except to chat it with him. They have plastic dividers that weren't being used. Violations everywhere. I know it is hard to deal with this virus and make sure people are compliant but it's places like this that is going to cause another shutdown. read more

My family went to beer barrel pizza back on May 31 of this year. it was slow because we were able to get seated right away. the service was slow we order 3 pops a bowl of tortilla chips and salsa. and a 16-inch pizza with onions, pork sausage bacon and light on the Sauce. side small cup of pepperoni for my daughter. they charged us almost 4 dollars and the cup was a small cup that you would put ranch in to dip your food. it was saucy did not taste anything but pork sausage and the pizza sauce. could not taste the onion or the bacon. the toppings were very skimpy. the server only came over twice to check on us to see if everything was alright. once when we were eating chips and salsa to see if we needed anything and one time on how we was everything. it was getting late the pizza was not up to our standards, but it was getting late, and we did not feel like waiting for them to take our pizza away and make a new pizza. and since our server mostly did the disappearing trick. for most of the night we could be waiting a period of time to to get up with our pizza and get it fixed right. i have sent an email to the company about our visit and I never heard anything back. so this tells me they don't care about their customers they rather just want the money. read more

I just got home from eating at Beer Barrel with my family. I ordered the BBQ Shrimp tacos. I could barely get one ate. My mouth was on fire from my my lips to my stomach. I'm used to spicy food but when it's so spicy that you can't taste what you're eating. I've never had a bad meal at Beer Barrel and I've ate at them from Lima to Columbus. This one was a huge disappointment and at a price of $16.00makes it burn even more. It's went to the trash. read more

Beer Barrel on Harding Hwy., Lima Oh. Today, Friday, Sept 24 was a beautiful day. Low 70's, no humidity, blue skies, and a light breeze. Wife and I would have liked a meal on the outside patio. We arrived about 3:40 pm and requested outside seating which at the time was empty. Hostess said it was closed due to no waiters. Ok, we were seated inside next to the patio. Decided to just get a drink here and get a meal elsewhere if we had to be inside. Halfway through a short glass of beer people started entering the patio area and were served immediately. I am just a little miffed at what a difference a few minutes can make. Did mention this to the manager, but it is what it is. The Blood Orange Shandy here is delicious and the wife liked her margarita. The meal at the other place was great also. read more

I may be crazy, but I think Beer Barrel changed something about the pepperoni. It no longer is insanely salty. But I have a new complaint: the breakfast buffet. As a big fan of the Happy Daz $5 breakfast special and Beer Barrel food in general, I was expecting to be blown away with offerings of French toast, juice ham and fresh biscuits. Instead, I got the general choice of hotel-quality breakfast foods: lukewarm omelet, cold toast, French toast sticks, and tiny, stiff biscuits. For $7, I expected more. And coffee isn't included, so the meal ends up being about $10. I'm the type who can't shovel down more than one plate of food, so it hardly is a value to me. As I was writing this review, Beer Barrel owner John Heaphy strolled by and asked if I'd had all I wanted from the buffet. He did that with every patron. Wish they had more outside seating. Food & service was ok. My mashed potatoes were cold. I asked for extra gravy & didn't receive it until I had to ask a 2nd time for it. Onion rings were to come with my meal & they did not. I had to ask for those. My French onion soup was delicious! The hubs Ruben was good.
