I still get compliments on her intricate work almost every time I have it exposed. **However, I had a terrible experience with Nate, who was late for work, couldn't stop sweating, and rushed the very simple piece. His line work was simply awful and I am extremely disappointed in the quality of work he etched on my friend and I. Considering how simple the design was, I can't imagine what led him to be so careless. I've been considering a cover up for several years now. My boyfriend Jimmy and I recently moved to Pennsylvania although we are both from NJ and had been planning tattoos for some time. On a spontaneous trip back to visit family we had some time to kill and decided to stop in to Fat Kat because I had heard from my cousins and some friends that they did good work. My cousins have gone to Nate for years but I have never heard of any other artist there specifically, I know you have to make an appointment with Nate and I didn't have my heart set on him anyway so I thought we could talk to someone else. Well Jimmy spoke to Mikey the shop guy about what he wanted and brought Anthony out, Anthony listened to him and what he had in mind (an old school robot) and he came back about 20 minutes later with a gorgeous stencil, in the meantime my boyfriend decided to treat me to my tattoo as well and while Anthony started on Jimmy I spoke to Bobby Paulmenn who luckily was not busy on this snowy Saturday. I told Bobby that I wanted to eventually have sleeves on both arms because I used to be extremely overweight and I had surgery to lose the weight and because I lost it so rapidly I had very loose skin on my body that I found to be very unattractive and that I'm super insecure about, I wear long sleeves in summer because I don't want my arms exposed, because of this I was also concerned that the loose skin would be hard to tattoo. He said it shouldn't be a problem and we discussed what I wanted to start with and I told him I love nautical stuff especially mermaids and octopi etc. I showed him a picture I found on the Internet of this cartoon looking mermaid plaque that someone had hanging on their bathroom wall and he took the drawing into the back room and came back 20 minutes later with a gorgeous mermaid design that I've never seen anywhere. It was beautiful. We started and everything just went great. It was virtually painless (I think I have a higher pain tolerance than some but Bobby was also very gentle and asked me several times if I needed a break or if I was okay, his music selection was awesome and put me at ease totally which isn't always easy to do. It took about 2 hours for the whole tattoo and the end result was just amazing. We just walked in off the street no appointments or a clear idea what we wanted and these two guys outdid themselves. We couldn't be happier with the art, the artists, Mikey the shop guy who keeps the place sparkling clean and beautiful and handles the very busy front desk professionally and with a warm and welcome smile. I will never go to another tattoo shop again unless Bobby breaks my heart and moves away but we are both very happy with the service and professionalism of the crew at Fat Kat and will definitely be going back. read more

Very unprofessional.... Went there on a Monday to try to get a tattoo, the tattoo artist that I picked the Receptionist told me is the artist day off which I perfectly understand i just walked in with no appointment... So he told me that I needed an appointment if I wanted to get a tattoo done and I did! I made an appointment for the following day... the following day I'm waiting and waiting for the tattoo artist to show up (which she showed up late) ...she comes out and take three minutes of her time and she tells me that she doesn't have the time to do my tattoo that this was a consultation appointment (nobody told me that I needed a consultation appointment first) so I made another appointment for the following Monday to finally get a small tattoo done...well, someone from the tattoo shop calls me one hour prior to my appointment and cancels my appointment...I cancel everything for that day to get this tattoo finally done and they canceled on me in a very rude and unprofessional way.... In a whatever! type if conversation ...the receptionist tells me "she has no time today for you"...So I'm trying to express my frustration In a very polite way and he is WHATEVER !....if you want to reschedule is up to you!... Great, clean, beautifully decorated, full of talent tattoo shop. Michelle did my tattoos and a few of my friends'. She is straight-up, very direct, will give you her opinion and it is spot-on. She definitely knows what she's talking about and does great work. Saturdays they accept walk-ins but you have to be there before the shop opens to guarantee a spot.. The internet does not seem to be a place where second chances are granted often. I entered the Fat Kat a bit worried, having read a lot of negative reviews on Nate. To my relief, his dedication to tattooing, creativity, and humor immediately became apparent as I entered. I think in general when getting a tattoo you cannot be too uptight and you have to with the flow. I definitly get the vibe that Nate once made it very difficult for his customers to go with the flow as a result of some demons he was dealing with. However, today he has made it very clear that he as evolved as a person and not going to let the past bring him down. He seems to have a new outlook on life as a whole and not planning on going anywhere any time soon, so all that is left to do is embrace his failures of the past and experience the new Nate. My tattoo may not be the most realistic scene, but the vibe is right and my experience of hanging out with Nate will last as long as the tattoo. Forever. read more

Probably as about a user friendly tattoo shop as you can go to. I have been getting my tattoos from Nate Chadwick for about 12 years now and will continue to do so. Nate and his staff are exactly what you would expect from a tattoo parlor.no one is overly condescending, or fake. You get meat and potatoes, blue-collar guys and girls who treat you like you have been friends for years. The tattoo artists are versatile and specialize in various types. Michelle seems to be the busiest artist, because she attracts mostly a female clientele, and from what I am told she has a very easy hand. And of course for all you old sailors, bikers and rock stars there's always Nate. This guy is the best, and treat you like a real person. If you say good morning then he will say good morning. If you say fuck you then he will say fuck you too. The shop itself is a little bit gritty and has a pretty amazing fish tank and things to keep you occupied while you wait. A diamond in the rough and I will continue to go there as long as there are spaces on my body to be filled in. And as far as price is concerned, the prices at fatcat are reasonable and won't cost you an arm and a leg to have an arm or a leg tattooed. read more

I have 11 tattoos that Sam has done for me now and I would NEVER go to someone else. I know that going to him I can go in with a vague idea of what I want and he will tell me if its a good idea or not and if it isn't he will make sure I leave with something that is as close to what the tattoo I wanted that will be beautiful and last a lifetime without fading or distorting. He is much more interested in doing quality work that will last than in just taking my money that day and being done. I'm so happy with the work he's done I plan to go back soon for my 12th tattoo by him and eventually I will have him do a sleeve for me too. I went last year to get a whole forearm cover-up from Nate. WOW, what a mistake!!!!! I have already begun spending thousands of dollars (which I don't even have!) to have it removed by laser, simply because it is an ugly, misshapen, and one dimensional tattoo that makes my heart sink every time I look at it. He plastered on a design that was not custom to my tattoos that were already there (I thought it was), and it came out TERRIBLE! I have since applied to be on Spike's Tattoo Nightmares and was rejected because they said it was "un-fixable." Similarly, all the shops I go to for other tattoos said it is a horrendous job and that I should get my money back. So I went to try and get my money back and he said "Nah, I can fix that" as he was tattooing another client and did not even get up to look at it. Oh yeah, so the best people in the cover-up business couldn't do it, but you can? What a joke. Never go to this place. Take the extra 25 minute drive down to Tattooville or Electric Tattoo. Waste of time, money, ink, and body space. I am constantly in pain every time I look at it, as it was supposed to be a tattoo that symbolized over-coming a lot of struggles. I took my friend to get a clitoral hood piercing here. I had heard they were pretty good by word of mouth so we gave it a shot. When we got there we had to wait around for about an hour, Which is not much of a problem, but when it was our turn i was incredibly disappointed. I already have this piercing so I was trying to help my friend be comfortable since this was here first piercing ever. I told her to let the guy know this was her first time. So she did, and he said okay. And that was it. Told her to lay down and breathe. He didn't let her see the placement of this piercing, didn't walk her through any of what he was doing. Didn't even throw away the marker that he used to mark her genitals with. (Gross) Just started clamping down on her stuff with no warnings at all. Finally the time comes to the piercing and he did what he had to. Here is the part that gets me. He did NOT tell her how to clean and maintain it. Did NOT tell her anything about the healing period, didn't even recommend a cleaning solution! She asked and he just brushed it off, like yea no sex for a little while, and wash it. Then just sent us on our way. I had to explain to her how to take care of her new piercing! I have multiple piercings and have never been as uninformed or treated as this guy treated us. I am so unsatisfied with the service and treatment we received that I will never recommend anyone to Fat Kat Tattoo ever. read more
