Whenever I hear the words "Fat Tuesday," I think of college, Las Vegas, and all the periods of time in my life when I've made questionable choices. We had been grabbing pizza next door after going holiday shopping and an adult slushie sounded fun. They had a Cajun Eggnog being sold as it's December. After trying our the sample cup, we went for it. Cheers! I didn't think it was boozy but J-Wow claims the Southern Comfort had her feeling sleepy after she had a medium cup ($12) of it. I think it was the calories bomb of pizza and eggnog that had her feeling sleepy but I'm not here to argue with that. It's a solid spot here on Mill Ave and Sixth Street. It's a legit spot when you need a sugary slushie but I'm in no hurry to be back.

Fun hangout place on Mill avenue, great for groups. My coworkers went on a weekday for lunch and enjoyed our food. There was only one staff member working, so we did have to go up to the bar and order. He was really nice and brought our food to the table, quick service. For anyone who wants to sit outside, there is a lot of outdoor seating available. The music was really loud and it was almost possible to hear someone else talking. While this may be fun at night, during the weekday lunchtime it wasn't. There was also a weird smell when walking in, this is the second time I have visited and both times I noticed it. If you sit away from the entrance it is fine though.

Came in during lunch time on a Thursday. When you enter you are able to sit wherever you like. We were informed during our time there we would need to order at the bar. We ordered at the bar and the food was delivered to our table. The restaurant plays loud music (reggaeton) over the speakers and gives off a very lively atmosphere. It would be a great place for happy hour, pre gaming and/ or energetic entertainment with friend. It may be hard to have conversation if you come in a group. I ordered the Baja Tacos and they were good. The slaw and salsa had a good flavor. The order comes with three tacos. My recommendation would be is I would like if they would offer fountain drinks (Coke products) or bottles beverages to enjoy with my meal.

The good: Service was great, the server checked up on us several times to make sure we were good. The music they play is very upbeat, made me want to get up and dance! The drinks were tasty! I had the Superman slush, very delicious! The bad: The food was not great. We got the Buffalo chicken dip, pretzels with cheese, and the Buffalo wings. The sauce on the wings had a weird flavor. The Buffalo dip was cold when we received it, as was the cheese sauce for the pretzels. None of it seemed very fresh. I would come back for the drinks and the vibe, but will probably skip the food next time.

They were playing great music and the slushy drinks were great. It was our last stop for the night and they turned the lights on and music off pretty much at 2am so that's common. The staff was friendly and we had a great time dancing. The bathrooms were a very dirty and the floor was very wet but other than that it was a fun time. The actual drinks were very good and not too expensive and the DJ was playing great music so it was fun.

Love this place. Bartenders are super nice and the drinks kick like a mule. I had the chicken tenders Cajun style last time I came in and they were so good - I was impressed! The music is always smackin' so it's definitely a solid ambiance.

Well worth the drive! We live in Gilbert so don't get this way very often but we were craving the frozen cocktails and so excited to see they are still here after so many years. It was quiet early afternoon on a weekday so open seating. We sat on the patio best weather so we could people watch. So many great choices we started with a flight board and went with 151 Pina Colada, Jungle Juice fruit punch, Miami Vice and Bomb Pop. Everything was delicious! Great way to try different ones. For food, we went with the Cajun spice Shrimp Tacos and Hot Wings. We ordered extra crispy they were cooked just right. If I had one complaint the dressing was watered down but still tasted good. Customer service was great as well. One last thing with mentioning, I noticed on Weds they offer 25% off to those in service... police, fire, EMT, nurses etc.

You get what you expect at a Fat Tuesdays! Fun/Mardi Gras vibe and decor, but definitely not always busy. The 190 octane require is my absolute go to every time, with the add shot because what other way would you start off a fun night on Mill Avenue?! Service is always been good - polite bouncers to check ID's, friendly bartenders, nice servers , and ample outdoor seating areas in the front and the back. This time we were actually responsible, and had food also (instead of just drinks). I got the Carnitas street tacos, and they were actually really tasty! I think I might come back here and actually eat more often! Thanks for being one of the constant staples on Mill Avenue, great job!

So delicious and an experience in itself!! We enjoyed some light bites as well - the Edamame Hummus and Shishito Peppers. Both were fantastic! I love that their menu points out which items are gluten-free... and our server even warned me that the plantain chips in the Edamame Hummus could have cross-contamination... so I very much appreciate that heads up! I opted to order them anyway and I am so glad I did - so good! And I experienced no gluten issues. Awesome! I'm already looking forward to a return trip! The chicken tenders were fire!!! What is lacking on this occasion was service. The server that we had was so unattentative. I have never been in a cocktail lounge in my life and had to beg for drinks. Our server would wait until every drinks was made for all of her tables before bringing out drinks. It was ridiculous. She was nice but seemed high. I ended up only having 2 drinks. We would have ordered more but they have 90min max seating and we didn't event get drinks for the first 30min. No exaggeration. Also one of my drinks I had to send back. My apple martini tasted like soap. It was like they did clean the glass after giving a soap bath. No bueno. So they need to get their service to match the vibe of a true cocktails lounge. Yes it is a 70s vibe but doesn't mean the lackadaisical style service. I would come back and try again. The music, the atmosphere and the food was good. They gotta get these cocktails together and service. We ended up walking to nearby competitors and that was money lost for DDG.

We were setup in a separate dining area from the main dining room, which allowed for better conversation without added noise. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive the entire time we were there, which was a couple hours. The milk bread is an absolute must! It's so pillowy soft and the flaky sea salt perfectly compliments it. I ordered the Wise Decision cocktail, which was refreshing. For my entree, I had the shishito Caesar salad and was advised I could add a protein from their skewer selection of chicken, pork belly or oyster mushrooms. I asked the waitress about the chicken and she advised that they are smoked and will appear pink from that, so not to be alarmed, but are moist and really flavorful. While the filet was tempting (and what everyone else at my table ordered), I wanted something lighter. Thankfully I was not disappointed in my selection. The chicken was as delicious as described and could be cut with a fork. The Caesar salad was well dressed, but not soggy. Do I think it was worth the money to add the chicken? Not if I were paying, but since my company paid for it, I think it was worth it. This is a great spot for a date night or special occasion.

I've been to Idle Hands twice, about a year apart, and there's a lot to like. The most recent was…read moreon a Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. This speakeasy is located on Mill Ave., the center of Tempe's party scene. Because of its location, parking isn't easy. If you're looking for free parking, you're going to have a long walk. Outside of that, you'll have to pay for parking in a garage or metered street parking. Ambiance (4/5): Hint hint. Idle Hands is located inside Devil's Hideaway. A true speakeasy shouldn't have signage outside indicating its location. Unfortunately, there's a sign for Idle Hands outside of Devil's Hideaway which takes away the sense of mystery and intrigue that a true speakeasy provides. Outside of this hiccup, it's a cool speakeasy. It's intimate, with 10 or so seats at the bar and about 10 seats in booths facing the bar. There's a projector screen behind the bar that had mystical motion graphics the first time I stopped by (thinking wizards) and Halloween motion graphics the second time (with it being a day before the holiday). There were some other Halloween decorations up. The only area of improvement? The music often doesn't match the vibe. A lot of the music they were playing on my last visit was Irish music that would be fitting for a pub. Service (4/5): I had the same bartender each time. He knows how to make a good drink and is pretty efficient. When you close out, he only gives you the merchant copy. Which is a pet peeve of mine. Let me get that customer copy too. But overall, a good experience. Especially at a college bar. Food (N/A): I've only had drinks both times. Idle Hands actually doesn't have food, but Devil's Hideaway does. And you're allowed to bring food from there into the speakeasy. Drinks (4.5/5): It's pretty surprising to see a speakeasy on a college campus. I was impressed with the creativity of the menu, both in terms of the ingredients used and the fusion of flavors. I've had a different cocktail each time, and they've all been great. My favorite was one served in a box filled with smoke. Talk about a cool presentation! The hallmarks of a solid speakeasy are elevated cocktails, nice ambiance (dimly lit), an intimate space, and mystery/intrigue. While the intrigue is lacking at Idle Hands, and the music can be improved, they hit it out of the park in the other areas. One of my favorite speakeasies I've been to in Phoenix (and surrounding areas). I am, after all, the self-appointed king of speakeasies. The king gives his stamp of approval.

Everyone was friendly, professional, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling overbearing. The service honestly matched the upscale atmosphere perfectly and made the whole experience feel even more polished. And OMG... the food. SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. Like genuinely one of those meals where every single bite makes you pause for a second because it tastes that incredible. I got the chicken orzo along with the lime icebox cake for dessert, and both were absolutely amazingggg. The chicken orzo was phenomenal. The lemon flavor throughout the orzo was bright, fresh, and flavorful without being overpowering, and the tomatoes were the PERFECT addition because they balanced everything so well and added a little sweetness and freshness to the dish. But the chicken... wow. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while still being super juicy and tender inside, which is honestly hard to do. Every component of the dish worked together perfectly. Magnificent is genuinely the best word for it. And the lime icebox cake was the perfect ending to the meal, refreshing, creamy, flavorful, and not too heavy after dinner. The restaurant itself is very cute and clearly designed for photos, which matches what I saw on their Instagram. Service overall was fantastic. The food, however, was just okay. I ordered the burrata and fig plate and was told they'd replace the bread with apple slices. I received five very small slices of apple, and when the plate was set down the waitress said she'd get more if needed. I later noticed I was charged $2 for an additional five slices, which together didn't even amount to half an apple. Ironically, the bread that comes with the dish would have been far more substantial. The burrata was fine, but nothing memorable. My friend ordered the chicken and brussels sprouts and didn't even finish it before having the plate taken away. The flourless almond cake was the star, a bit salty on its own, but with the ice cream and whipped cream it was a delightful combo which were the highlight. Overall, this is a great spot for cocktails, ambiance, and photos, but the food is fairly mediocre compared to the setting.
