This is going to be long, because my experience at Postino was that good. I was in Tempe for work and found Postino Annex by accident. I had lunch there on Tuesday, 8/11 and was first greeted by a server whose name I THINK is Joey but maybe Joey is who relieved him when the shift change happened?? We'll call him Joey for the purposes of the review (side note, the server who stepped in was amazing and also deserves all the stars!). Joey was so knowledgable and sweet! He recommended the Chicken Chop salad and I will 100% be dreaming about that salad until I come back. Incredible service. Because I was so thrilled with lunch I came back for dinner and was greeted by Megan who is a literal DREAM of a hostess. I sat at the bar, which was without question the right move. Sav, THANK YOU! Sav's recommendations were perfect and she was a true delight to get to spend some time with. She's the kind of bartender that anticipates exactly what you need before you even know you need it. The cauliflower/raisin/caper combo was actual heaven and the lemon butter chicken with "spicy" marcona almonds....insane. I'm rarely finishing plates and I didn't leave a single bite. Service was great! We went back since we were very close to this location for work & had a great experience earlier in the week. Our first visit we only ordered the bruschetta board & drinks so we wanted to try more. Ordered the other popular items and was overall disappointed . The pream bowl lacked any flavor. The steak was very chewy and the grains had burnt pieces that felt like eating raw rice with a strong burnt taste. The meatball with feta had a great taste but once I saw the pink meat, I lost my appetite. I was really excited for the cauliflower appetizers but it fell short. The 1/2 sandwich and salad was good but nothing you couldn't find at any sandwich shop. This maybe just a place for bruschetta and drinks. read more

We went to this Postino location the other night for board and bottle night and we were quite disappointed with our service. There were not many people in the restaurant and there was a minimal wait time (10 minutes), which was the only positive experience. I do usually love this place, especially board and bottle night and the service is never slow. Our waitress would ignore our table and we had to flag her down many times. I know you usually have multiple servers, but no other server came to our table. We had to flag all the servers when we wanted something. Our waters and drinks took about 25 minutes to reach our table. All the other tables around us were getting served quickly. Came in for lunch after church! There is not much street side parking but the parking garage is right next door. The service was great. Even after the servers warned us of short staff, they did an amazing job and worked great together to make sure all the tables were taken care off. We didn't wait long for drinks nor our food. They did a great job. We sat outside in the nice shaded patio! The food was amazing, the pub board was great, the sausage and cheese dip were great. Just prior to saying goodbye after a long trip that ended here in Tempe and heading to Sky Harbor to go home, hung out here on a perfect mid March high noon. Outdoor seating with shade and warm rays was available and sampled some amazing appetizers. One was goat cheese with arugula, some kind of a toasted artisan bread, and pink grapefruit I believe. 5/5; also had a rich but sinfully delicious cremini mushroom fondue 5/5; had meatballs in a tomato meat sauce (very light and flavorful) and for my main dish has the P.R.E.A.M. Bowl 5/5. Except for the fondue which was sinfully delish, the dish led were light and cleanly cooked and very fresh. Was easily the best place I ate at while in the Phoenix area. Postino is a wonderful restaurant option if you love wine, bread, and cheese. I typically avoid alcohol, gluten, and dairy, so it's really not the best option for me personally. Our server did offer to accommodate my diet and I tried a mocktail, a deconstructed sandwich with no cheese or bread (they do offer a gluten-free bread option but I don't personally care for it), and a salad with no dairy. I really appreciate the willingness to accommodate and that meant so much to me. But the quality of the food was very average. The grilled chicken was incredibly bland and tasted not very fresh. I really didn't enjoy my meal and probably wouldn't return to Postinounless I planned to eat bread and cheese because that's really where they shine. read more

This is Postino's Tempe location near ASU campus. I have stopped in here a few times. Postino WineCafe is known for their large variety of wines and bruschetta boards. Because it was spring time, I started off with a Holly's Way Chardonnay and some olives. Some of my usual bruschetta choices include Brie, Apple & Fig, Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato & Basil, Burrata, Bacon, Arugula & Tomato and Salami & Pesto. I came here with a friend recently. We took advantage of the $6 happy hour glasses of wine and ended up hanging out for a while. We ordered the chicken skewers and enjoyed it. Btw.. you have to try the Olive Oil Cake. It is really good. Postino has locations in a number of states now. They've really grown since opening their first location on 40th Street and Campbell over 20 years ago. I love how majority of their locations are in old rustic buildings that have been restored. This location has a nice shaded outdoor patio. Postino gained popularity with their Mon/Tues bottle and board nights. They recently just started up their Wine Cult subscription where you get a select bottle of wines quarterly and special discounts if you sign up. We had a really nice dinner experience at Postino Annex. We arrived just before the end of happy hour on a busy Friday, and the place had great energy. The four of us shared a couple of boards and pitchers of beer, and everything was delicious. We sat outside on the sidewalk patio, which added to the fun atmosphere. We split a bruschetta board where you choose four options -- we went with the brie, apple & fig spread; a beef and cheese special; sweet and spicy jam with goat cheese; and ricotta with dates and pistachios. They even cut everything into quarters without us asking, which made sharing easy. We also ordered the Chef's Charcuterie, which was excellent, and they happily brought extra bread and crackers when we asked. Meh. I'd seen this place before since it's next to snooze. A friend of a friend recommended it, so we went here for a pre-race dinner. The good: food was good overall, but not great. I had the chicken and mozzarella panini and upgraded to the daily soup, which was way over salted. I tasted one of the bruschettas and it was delicious. The service was lackluster. Had to ask for refills. Didn't get asked about the food (hence me not being able to say the soup was over salted). Our server came back and asked about dessert. My friend wanted the olive oil cake, and I asked to see the menu. When he came back I said we wanted the olive oil cake and the hazelnut crunch. The cake came and we waited, and waited, and waited. We were done with the cake and the second dessert never appeared. We asked and he said "you just ordered the cake" even though the other 3 people all heard we wanted both. Like most places in Phoenix, they open it up to the outside when the weather is nice, and they have ample outdoor seating. The joint is clean, and has an atmosphere that could work for a date, a business lunch, hanging out with friends - whatever. Not too fancy, but a classy casual. DO NOT ORDER DESERT HERE. 8 of us spent 40 minutes after our meal waiting for a single Hazelnut Bar while the waitress assured us "it's on the way" and then intentionally disappeared because she knew she was full of shit. The whole point of a 'bar' is that you just cut it out of a tray, and then plate it. Takes 3 minutes. I've done it. I assumed they ran out and were making it from scratch, except that when it arrived, it looked like shit, so it wasn't freshly made. It was a dimmer and intimate setting, with good music and chill, moody decor. There was indoor and outdoor seating. It was my first time visiting a Postinos, and our server Carrie really made me feel special when she brought out a complimentary bruschetta for us to try! I decided to try the one Cabernet Sauvignon on the menu (Centenario) and it was very easy to drink, on the lighter side. It was the red wine I was looking for and hoping for that evening. Highly recommend. We also ordered the pick 4 bruschetta board and choose the following: -a hummus option that was their special that evening. (It was good) -sweet and spicy jam and goat cheese (this was my #2) -burrata, bacon and arugula (THIS WAS MY FAVORITE) -ricotta, dates and pistachio (this was my least favorite, but still good) To go, we split the chicken and mozzarella panini on focaccia bread. Second time coming here and loved the whole experience! First off, our server was super nice and friendly and attentive. They came to check up on us multiple times, got boxes, and made sure they had the ingredients in stock before we ordered. I love that there is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating on the patio has a great vibe with rustic lighting and heat lamps. There was plant next to me that was a little overgrown but nothing too bad I ordered the prickly pear lemonade to drink which was so good! It was pink, sweet, and sour at the same time and don't really taste like pears in a good way. To eat, I got the PREAM bowl with chicken, which had avocado, grains, a sauce, broccolini, and chicken, all of which were cooked really well and it was very tasty. The portion looks small but I ended up taking some in a box to go, so it is quite filling. We made a same-day reservation for 5:30pm on a Monday and got in with no hassle. I'd recommend coming here before sunset so you can have a great view! This location is in Tempe downtown by ASU, so there is a mix of young and older folk which is nice. read more
