I…read morethought I was hiring a kind, trustworthy and professional company but somewhere along the way that completely changed. They told me it would be a 6 week job (which sounded absurd at the time and I knew it would take longer than that). 7 months later after they started work (we moved out in an attempt to make it easier and quicker) we were finally able to move back in. Somewhere along the way they say they went ~$30-40k over budget, which they failed to tell me about until 2 weeks after they stopped working on my house (not fully completing the work). Personally I think they just didn't care about my project and Phil was spending the summer getting his pilots license instead of overseeing the work at my house. They used the money they said I owed them (they never would fully document the expenses) as an excuse to not complete some minor things or honor their 1 year warranty. Before they even stopped working on the house, the LVP flooring they installed through out the house started separating in a couple places. Now it's either separating or buckling all over the house. Their workmanship is poor and they used cheap materials. Their attention to detail is a joke (like the bathroom faucet handles don't start/stop their turn in the same places and hot/cold water is backwards) and numerous mistakes were made throughout the project (used the wrong type of paint on all of the doors in the house and had to redo, they drilled for the wrong size handles on the cabinets having to fill, touch up paint and re-drill, window trim installed crooked, used wrong edging on backsplash, crooked light fixtures, etc.). The cabinets are terrible, the slow close drawers don't close, shelves have fallen down, and they left 2 completely unfinished inside. All of the caulking has dried up and split. The paint job throughout the house including the cabinets is terrible. I spent all my money to be left with something that looks like amateur did it. Phil's office manager wife was absolutely horrible to work with once I signed the contract. Before she was super nice. Same with Phil. Phil flat out lied to my face multiple times - saying he had purchased finishes when he had not. Then when it was time to install, the finishes I chose they were no longer available. I had to take additional time off of work to go find new ones. Anyhow, I could go on all day about how much I think they suck but my advice is to steer clear of these folks - no integrity or professionalism.

The rehab loan depended on it in order to proceed. We met Roman at the property, told him what we wanted and what we had to work with. The guy did not seem interested in being there at all to me. I ended up walking away and letting my wife talk. At the end, he said we'd have a bid from him in a week. That week came and went... NOTHING..... I called. He said he'd get his notes to me by the end of the day to make sure we were on the same page. No surprise, I didn't get that Email as promised. Days later, I get his notes. We confirm, YES this is what we want to do. We didn't hear back from him until a month later when we got an Email stating they aren't taking any new jobs. All I have to say is it's a damned good thing we gave up on contractors to get back to us and went with a conventional loan instead of the 203k we started with. What the hell is wrong with contractors in this area?? Nobody seems like they want to work. They all say they'll get back to you but it's crickets from there.

After mediation I signed a waiver releasing stonewood of future issues. Fast forward to 2021 when mold appeared suddenly on my ceiling and drywall tape started separating. To my dismay, Stonewood Construction did not follow my city approved plans and the entire roof was not vented. Anyone familiar with a shed style roof knows that the venting is different then your traditional roof. The damage is extensive, estimated at $70,000 including removal of a large section of the roof. Stonewood Construction has chosen not to cover the damage, falling back on the old totally unrelated CCB agreement. This is their right. However they do not appear to have the ethical standards to pay for this repair. It was their huge mistake, and I believe that an excellent company would take care of this regardless of the CCB board ruling because it is the RIGHT thing to do. Buyer beware!!!!

May of 2018 we had a flood due in our utility room due to a water heater leak. WVR came in and…read moreseemed to know exactly what they were doing. They had the room in plastic, dryers, and brought in the people to do the work to put the room back together which included replacing dry wall, flooring, cabinets, etc. For weeks the work did not begin and and repeated attempts to contact them resulted in, 'Mike's not in, he'll call you back'. Calls were consistently unreturned. In one successful contact with Mike, who was the project manager, he told us that the flooring had not come in and that's why they hadn't started the job. We called the flooring company and they said that he had not ordered it. From the time that work did begin, it was a nightmare.Mike provided no plans to us or his workers, he mismeasured so that the work they began was not possible to complete (this was caught by a worker who, within a day was let go for some reason- he was a skilled worker) He and another man had to come over and restructure the plan. The workers did good work at first, but Mike was never available and so the work would get held up. When they installed the water heater they did not fill the tank before starting it up so it burned out the element. The work was not completed until Nove 5th, no plans or itemized list was ever provided. We had to get the itemized list of work from the insurance adjustor. The bill was paid by insurance and extra work contracted for the job was paid by us in full. Just last month, we discovered a leak again. Our water heater closet was swollen shut and the replaced drywall work inside the house adjacent to the closet was cracked (18", 7" long, 1/4" wide), in the seams. WVR claimed that the cracks were the result of "the house settling" and they claimed no responsibility for their workers' installation of the water heater. When we contacted our insurance company as when we could expect the work to begin (WVR would not return our calls), our insurance adjuster reported that Mike had told him, "Why should I do the work when they still haven't paid me?" This, of course, was a shock, and threatened our reputation and credibility with our insurance company. Mike had claimed WVR they had widened our doors and completed other work for which they were not paid. This is patently false- no such work was ever done. WVR front office confirms that all bills to us have been paid in full. Mike slandered us to our insurance company. I do not know what struggles WVR are having as a company or if this is just their business model, but we still have black mold in our house and are trying to get a resolution for the condition Willamette Valley Restoration has left our home. We can't get back the time, stress and frustration of having dealt with such an unprofessional, shoddy company over the past 10 months.

I have used WVR two times for repairs and they have been amazing both times. The first was when my…read morebusiness flooded (a toilet ran for 2 weeks while we were out of the office, destroying all of the flooring and flooding the basement with all my important documents.) I called WVR immediately and they were able to send out someone right away. They coordinated with my insurance so I didn't have to think about any of it. They had great people who redid our original soft wood fir floors and restored them to like new. And, most importantly, they had the right equipment to dry out my documents so they were still usable. Out of 30 boxes worth of papers, only 1 and a half were not back to "usable" condition. The second time I used them, I had a leaky pipe around my shower that I didn't know was leaking inside the wall until I noticed a huge wet area on the ceiling in our dining room below. Again, they came over immediately and got started. With the sensors they had, they were able to tell where the water started and stopped in the ceiling and only cut out what they needed to. For about a week, it looked like the movie ET in our house with plastic wrap everywhere to cordon off the parts where they were working! We were still able to use all the other areas and they did not interfere with our daily lives. When they restored the ceiling, they matched our heavy plaster "design" in the ceiling to the point that you cannot tell what is old and what is new. I've been impressed both times we've used them. Easy to work with, fast and efficient, and all the special equipment to get the job done.
