I took my daughter to get her hair braided and when she left the shop and got home she noticed how crooked the parts was at the top of her hair so I decided to give them a call the next day and she told me I can bring my daughter in to get it fixed. I don't know if they was rushing to get her hair finished because it was near closing when They was about finished. Anyway I took her back and when we arrived I'm explaining to the lady that the parts are crooked up at the top she looks and tells me it's not when it clearly is. First of all I LOVE COMING here to get my hair done. I'm always in and out in 3/4 hours. But again I need to just stick to what I'm use to. Today I called and inquired about knotless braids. I was informed that they start at $180 and they could do them. I also called another local shop and inquired about their pricing for the same style and they were actually running a special for them and also included the hair. I should've just went there.... But noooooooo I came to fati's just expecting the style...since they told me when I called they could do it and would give me a good price and more so because I come here all the time to get my hair braided...and not to mention these crazy times- so I decided to stay and allow 2 braiders who normally DONT braid my hair to braid my hair. & WHALLLA....refer to my pic for the ending result. Smh! Just KICK ME IN THE A** why don't cha! Something told me to grab a mirror and look at the back side of my head....A RUSHED JOB!! I come in and get the same style every time, and paying the same price 200$ for Marley twists. I never come in making demands, I never come in with special requests because the ladies had always did a good job. but this time the lady made my first two rows of boxes normal and the middle of my head boxes very large... my style was not full. I always request Khadijah because she is who I am most familiar with and she takes very good care of my edges. lol All of the women in the shop are extremely nice, the vibe is always very comforting. I've been to this shop before and didn't have an issue until today. I showed a picture and was quoted a price. I purchased my own curly hair and braiding hair. The braider Elsa was horrible. I requested her from a previous visit. The style she gave me was nothing like the photo shown. The rest of the stylist tried to convince me otherwise. When I express my disappointment with the front of my hair. They reluctantly agreed to redo it. Elsa was obviously upset that she had to redo the front of my hair which took her less than 30 minutes to do. Her once gentle touch was more tight and aggressive. I let her know if she wasn't up for the change to get someone else. At the end she charged me $20 more than what was quote saying they had to add the curly hair that was in the original photo with the quoted price. When I got there they said it was not the hair they are used to and they made a mess of my crochet. Only did the perimeter and left the center with out crochet. It looked awful, cheap and unprofessional. They told me to come back in the morning with the hair they are used to but when I got there they all had people in the chairs. Came here at 3:55 pm on Valentines Day and left by 6:30pm! Definitely the best hair braiding experience I have had in regards to ease and time. Being pregnant, I don't feel like sitting in a chair for 6-7 hours (#backpain). So when my friends told me about this place and how quickly they could braid your hair, I was 100% on board. I am so happy I went because I was in a chair as soon as I walked in and was out of the chair 2.5 hours later. The only thing I didn't like is that they don't carry ombré hair. I was told I would need to bring that with me. I didn't feel like leaving so I used the colors they had. It worked out fine, but I would have enjoyed a few more color options. read more

I just left this shop. The woman who braided my daughter's hair made negative comments about the texture of her hair and was overall very rude. She did this in French. However, my daughter speaks and understands French fluently. They tried to say that my daughter misheard her, but no. The owner is very nice. She was warm and welcoming. And there were ladies in the shop that braided well however my braider did not. They didn't have my hair color (4), not a big deal i went to get the hair. When i got back they had found some #4 hair, i suppose and the braider was already separating It. The hair i purchased was ombré because i wanted blonde at the end. She seemed to get mad because she had already started separating. Them she told me that she can't add the hair as she braids so she couldn't add the additional color that i wanted. Then she started braiding and the braids were to big. I requested small and showed a picture. She said she would add less hair. Overall the quality for the price was not there. My hair is sticking out of the braids and they are not the same thickness all the way to the end. They are thick at the beginning and super skinny at the end. I saw 2 other braider give the others the exact style i wanted and It was perfect. My co-worker recommended me and her hair is beautiful. Almost every braid has hair sticking out. Saw this when she was done, but at that point i had been there 6 hours and i was done. This style is not even a week old and i put on a bonnet as soon as i get home. Been getting braids for the last 5 years so i know how to take care of them. This was just a poor job. As nice as professional as the owner is, i wish she would have verified that the braiders work was on par with the work SHE does. read more

I recently called for the large feed-in cornrows before my trip to the Caribbean. I was told to just come in at 11am; that there was no need to make an appointment. I came on a Monday at 11:00am and there were 5 braiders who were all working and 5 people waiting. I knew I was going to have to wait long. 45 minutes later, Sophie agreed to take me although she had an appointment on the way. After she was halfway through, her client showed up and she rushed through my head. It was $100 for the style. I left and came back an hour later after I realized the size inconsistency. She "fixed it" and I was on my way. I wasn't satisfied with the work but since I had to prepare for a flight, I didn't complain. I don't think I will be returning to this shop. I am very disappointed in the quality of the work Sophie provided especially with the amount that was paid. Hair is coming out all over. The braids are all different sizes and the ends are raggedy. She seemed pretty frustrated because of the length of my hair and wasn't sure if the braids would slip out my head.She did assured to me she'll make a way to make them stay. I've been serviced here three times and have been satisfied every time :). Last summer was my first time getting box braids and I wasn't sure what to expect. I found Fati Braiding on Yelp and was attracted to the reviews of braids in under 4 hours. I showed up around 8am that time, showed them way too many inspiration photos, chose my color hair (which is included in price) and two stylists got to work on my head. About two hours in, they added a third woman to help finish me up! I was out by 11:30....unheard of! After loving my medium box braids for 6 weeks, I took them out and went back a few weeks later for 6 cornrows which were also fantastic and I was in/out out in just one hour. Last Friday the 7th, I went in for box braids again. There are usually about 8 women braiding at a time and I know how quick the usually are so I strolled in around 9:30 am and again, was out in just three hours. My braids are clean, tight and tidy and I continue to get compliments. Only thing I'll say is you may have to get your own hair if your hair is much lighter (ash brown, dark blonde) and you want yours to match. My natural hair is dyed ashy, platinum blonde and there wasn't any lighter color selection of their hair on hand to blend with mine. I wasn't expecting Marilyn blonde but I figured some clients have to request light light brown hair from time to time. No biggie---next time, I might bring my own. read more

I've always been a walk in and I'm in and out in 3 hours with cute and stylish hair twists The reason why I'm giving this place 3 stars is because they braid REALLY tight - so please do tell them to not braid so tight especially around the edges. I had two braiders on my head the two times that I've been serviced here and I had to constantly remind them that I was tender headed. Despite all that, I still came home with a huge headache due to how tight the braids were and couldn't rest my head normally on my pillow before bed! It looked as if my hair follicles were inflamed because of all that pulling from the tight braids. Ibuprofen was a life saver! Luckily, I have a a lot of thick hair so I've never experienced major hair loss/thinning, but I wouldn't be surprised if others have because of all that tightness. I came in a few days before my service with a full-size picture of what I wanted which was boho faux locs. I asked how much and what hair to buy as this style they do not supply the hair. I made an appointment for 7 am, I was there before any braider arrived. At about 7 :30 a braider that had been on her phone for the last 5 minutes or so finally started my hair. I always confirm the price before work is done to cut down on cost mix-ups and was given a price $40 more than when I came in the first time. Fast forward to my hair, I purchased human hair hoping that it would not kink up as fast...well I dont expect it to kink up because I have a trash basket full of the add on human hair. To top it off the braider was rude and told me to sign the book but give me the money first. What they and other braid shops fail to realize is there is a braid shop on almost every corner in the "hood" so I would be in their best interest to be nicer and do a good job seeing as this hair do ended up being VERY expensive. read more

My Senegalese Twist started falling out after 1 week!!! One week!!! I was going out of town, so I couldn't drive from Northern VA to MD to get it fixed. I asked the owner for a partial refund, since I had to completely remove the braids. She declined. So, I put in a claim with my bank. The owner responded saying my claim was probably a "scam" & their refund policy is no refunds after 3 days, yet they swear the style is supposed to last "4 weeks" and should not be falling out after 1 week. What kind of refund policy doesn't cover the lifespan of the product?? Pros: Fastest service around due to multiple stylists. Cons: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! My hair is fine and before the woman started she was hesitant saying that the braids might not stay in. I've heard that all before and told her I've had braids several times before....trust me they'll stay in. Well, let me tell you she must have been so scared they were gonna come out because she did THEM SOOOOOO TIGHT. They hurt so bad! I couldn't move my hair on my head for almost a month! And when I took them out they PULLED MY HAIR RIGHT OUT OF MY HEAD! I specifically asked them not to do them too tight and another lady there who seemed as if she were in charge said "It's gonna be tight no matter what ". They need to understand that completely disregarding the scalp, hairline and health of the hair is DISSERVICE TO THE CUSTOMER. And my hair is not like super fine "white folks type of hair " either. After a tiring search for a braid shop in the area that does quality work, in a clean/safe environment and won't require me to get a second mortgage I stumbled upon Fati Hair Braiding via some Yelp reviews. Other shops had horror stories with pictures to go with them. I visited the shop on two days prior and got a chance to talk with a customer who had just gotten Senegalese twists. Her hair was on point so I took the opportunity to ask her all my questions and she even shared some suggestions on other styles they're good at. One of the braiders took time to explain different things about the twists since this is my first time trying them. They have binders with photos of various braids, styles and their varying dimensions. It was 4p on this particular day and I did take note of their closing time and it's not in my nature to hold someone hostage when it's quitting time. I didn't want the "I'm ret to go" braids from someone who had an attitude due to overtime. So be forewarned; don't go in there at 5p when they close @ 7p trying to get a complicated style....that ish is frowned upon! I pulled a disappearing act at work and ate a good lunch and got to the shop around 2:30. Mimi got situated and started on my hair about 2:45 and was finished at 5:45. She was doing a kick butt job by herself and when other braiders finished clients they came over and assisted. I opted to get the ends curly so when I wear it down it has some spunk to it. Cash is accepted dang near everywhere but they also allow you to pay by credit card too. There are some other shops nearby and Fati's can accommodate about 8 clients being serviced at one time depending on the style requested. I previously dreaded the thought of micros or twists because it was anywhere from 6-9 hours to complete. For the price and the amount of time I think I did a good job researching this spot. I plan to return to try out other protective styles. I talked with Fati herself and she was very kind and asked a few questions about how my experience was & how I found them. Located in the Kingdom Square shopping plaza there is plenty of parking and neighboring eateries to tide you over while being service. I got there at 9am on a Thursday, was the first client there which worked to my advantage because I was able to have 3 women working on my head the whole time. Everyone was pleasant and accommodating. My hair is natural and I have a lot of shrinkage so the night before I washed my hair and banded it down (please Google) to stretch it out and to make sure it was long enough for the style I wanted. It was; I decided on the individuals aka micros. I really really love my hair! Shop was quiet and they constantly asked if I was okay, or needed to stretch. Love this place. Got referred here by a lady at my gym and then my coworker who tried it out after I told her about it. I went after work during the week- my appt was at 430pm and the stylists were already braiding someone else's hair. I figured I'd be stuck waiting but S soon as I put my coat away they had me seated and started braiding. I have a reallllly thick head of natural hair and I am west African so my curls are tight and unforgiving. That combined with the long braids I always like usually means a 9 hour braiding session. So you can imagine my face when I got to my car and was heading home at 8:30pm. The owner was so nice and they actually listen when you ask for things and are not impatient like other hair braiding places. They did not do my edges too tight like I asked and the length is exactly what I asked for. Their prices are good too 180.00 for the waist length box braids and that includes the hair they provide. Parking is good as it's in a shopping outlet complex, the space is clean and the bathroom is tidy. Their hours are good- they're open on Sundays so you could go before or after church.
