She's conveniently located on Branch Avenue less than 10 minutes from the metro where I park to go into DC everyday. I made the appointment and confirmed online. I arrived on time and she offered to let me sit in the kitchen to finish the food I'd brought. She did have a head in her chair at the time, but I wasn't over surprised. It was a cold, rainy Thursday evening. She got me in quickly and shampooed and conditioned me herself to sit under the dryer (of course) and then she quickly wrapped one client before me and got me in the chair. All-in-all I was out in under 2-1/2 hours and I consider that a complete win. My hair was LAID and I absolutely loved my curls. Whitney does an excellent job with natural hair. I don't need a whole silk press because my hair, while curly, is fine (3c/4a) but she still did a good job of determining the heat setting from my iron (I always bring my own now) and was willing to use my heat protectant, which I appreciated. 10/10

It's even more frustrating how some of these same businesses try to accuse customers of getting over on them for decisions that they themselves have made. I've been getting my hair done by Claudette for several years now and for the most part it's been great. I've always gotten a ton of compliments on my hair, and I've shared her business with numerous friends, sorority sisters, and even strangers in the grocery store. My hair has consistently looks great and for the most part our appointments have been timely, which I greatly appreciate! I can make a hair appointment and still have time to enjoy the rest of my day. She's been flexible on the occasions that I've been late, and I've extended to her the same courtesy when she's running behind. From my perspective, we had a pretty good working relationship. A few months back, she started changing the way she was braiding my hair and incorporated. braiding hair. Ever since then, I've noticed that my hair doesn't last as long, and sometimes the crochets slip out, especially in the front. This last time, a little over a week after My appointment, two the crochets slipped out in the front. I sent her a quick text to let her know and showed her a picture, with the intention of trying to figure out what changes we can make to the braiding structure so that it doesn't happen again. I was very surprised when she sent me a note saying that she would refund my money and asking me to find another stylist, noting that she had given me several discounts in the past. I told her that my intention in notifying her was to see how we could resolve the issue together, not to receive any additional discounts. I also told her that I did not want a refund. I want to acknowledge that she had previously provided me discounted services after she had to redo a set of crochets that she had done about week prior. However, the most recent discount she offered me was because she was 4 HOURS LATE for my appointment, and I wasn't able to reschedule because I was flying to New Orleans for a wedding the next morning. At no point did I ever ask Claudette for any of discounts she offered, and was prepared to pay full price for all of my services if asked. I was under the impression that these discounts were an act of good faith and an extension of professional courtesy for my inconvenience. However, it's a shame that unfounded suspicion and/or a bruised ego has tarnished an otherwise good professional working relationship.

I spoke with Aminah and she informed me that "Binta" was going to do my hair. I responded, "Okay, no problem." Binta told me to sit in her chair. As soon as I arrive, she assessed my hair and started the braiding process. She was professional, quick, efficient, and soft-handed. This was the first time I did not feel as if my scalp was being pulled from my head. I went through cancer treatment and my hair grew back except in one very noticeable spot. Aminah braided my hair so that that spot is covered. I've never been happier. She is a master of her craft. However, my last appointment on October 13th, the outcome is not positive, and thus, I am leaving my review and pictures to substantiate the 1 star. 98% of my communications with Danielle is through text messages. I understand each industry has their own pricing, and I realize that the cost of weaves can be expensive. My weaves are $495 every 6-7 weeks. ($210 for the hair & $285 for the shampoo/quick weave). September 25th, I paid for the hair and asked if Danielle did sew-in weaves vs quick weaves using bonding glue. She does. it's $300. OK. $15 more than my current cost of $285. The day of my appointment, I agreed with Danielle's professional advice to have her sew in the last row in the back instead of sewing in the entire weave which is what I asked for through text. It's November 11th and my hair is coming apart. I don't think for $495, I should be gluing in tracks. I texted Danielle about how much is a touch up because the back is still a problem and no response . "Still" means I have issues in the past.
