As the name states, this is very much a family business and a very popular one at that. A visit offers a chance to see the aging room and enjoy the shop. Beyond cheeses, the family makes spectacular sparkling and still wines from cold weather varietals. They are truly remarkable. When it comes to the cheese itself, there are about 8 or so varieties to pick from, some cow, some sheep and others a mix. The family secret cheese is a favorite, but Tomme is also spectacular. The cheese makers here are known for careful expression of terroir in the cheese, so this is some of the most authentic and most Canadian things that money can buy.

In addition to selling cheese and other goodies, inside the cheese shop is a counter that makes and sells hot food! We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms, a baguette sandwich, a large poutine and everything was delicious. The cheese was flavourful. The baguette was perfectly crisp and chewy. The poutine was delightful - with lots of cheese curds, sweet corn and veggie gravy. I picked up a bottle of Raw Quebec Honey for my mom and she absolutely loved the deep flavour. I also bought a bag of D'Antan Maple Potato Donuts for myself and the donuts were epic - so soft, great maple flavour yet not too sweet.

Bought a $7 bag and can attest the quality is not overly salty but equally squeaky.
