I consulted with Steve (Pargo) on filing a personal tax return. During our free consultation, Steve…read morewas helpful and considerate; however, thereafter, he failed to conduct business in a professional and trustworthy manner. When asked about his price, Steve stated he does not have a set price, as it's based on the amount of work needed to compete the return (this seems fair). Steve further stated I would not be locked in on the price once he reviewed my tax documents and provided a price. Steve called approximately 1.5 weeks later and provided an estimated return based on my documents as well as a price of $800.00. Based on my prior professional accountants I've used (who all charged $200 or less), I believed this price to be unreasonable. I asked Steve what is hourly rate was and what his workload was in hours (so I could reverse engineer his seemingly outrageous number). Steve failed to address my questions, stating he charges a higher rate for professional work (which is a clear evasion to avoid the glaring issue). I informed Steve I did not want to proceed with the filing of the tax return, since the price seemed unreasonable (as well as of his lack of justification for such a price). Steve attempted to gaslight me by stating the work was done (implying I owed him because of the work) - contrary to our prior verbal agreement (per parameters he set). Steve further attempted to gaslight me by making the rhetorical remark: "if that's how you want to do business, then come get your documents." (He offered to mail them too). This is widely unprofessional given our initial agreement. In summation - Steve is either new at accounting and justified (in his mind) the high price, due to an unnecessary amount of time he spent trying to figure out how to properly file our taxes (because he lacks the knowledge on military-related services and capital gains, two intricacies involved with my return). Or, Steve attempted to swindle me for more money than what his services were worth (compared to the market), because he was aware I was getting ~23k back in taxes charged incorrectly to my wife's military medical severance pay. In either case, Steve failed to be honest about his price upfront and hoped I would be manipulated to pay it after he was done reviewing. This could have easily been avoided if Steve was honest about his hourly rate and/or a percentage he charges based on the total tax refund. This clearly shows Steve lacks professionalism, as he is looking to get the most amount on money based on the circumstances (and is willing to lie and omit facts to do so). At the age of 32, I have never worked with an incompetent and untrustworthy accountant - until Steve. You have been warned

I have always had my taxes done by a friend in Cleveland Oh, and just never took the time to find a new one. I scheduled through email and quickly got a response back. (I had emailed a couple places and this is the only one that actually returned my email) I scheduled a time and I think a week out to meet with them. When I arrived, I met with Nichole Thousand and we discussed my current situation and what she needed to take over my taxes and help me with other financial needs. I must say that I was very impressed and that she has made the transition very simple and easy and I feel full confidence in her services. Unethical, rude, disrespectful, insulting, and unprofessional CPA. Has treated me and others with…read moreutmost disrespect and incompetency. Wasn't transparent about pricing and charged much more than quoted. I told her we would be parting ways after tax season, as my S-corp return and personal have not even been started on yet (S-corp due March 15, they filed extension March 14 but didn't give me any updates, today is April 5) about which I was not notified, and she had the gall to fire me as a client 10 days before individual taxes are due because I set boundaries with her. Her emails included insults and personal attacks, and her office did not return everything to me that I sent them. Cites reason for the incompetence is that an accountant left her firm. Perhaps if she weren't so ugly to clients and employees, people would stay. Here are some comments she made to me just today via email (not counting previous encounters): When I asked why they didn't call about discovering my returns haven't been worked on: "I am not curt. I am still confident, and that's why we are working our tails away instead of crying over it on the phone." "Can you please stop panicking for no reason?" When I questioned the hike in pricing and lack of transparency about it (important to note I told her when I hired her that I am new to being a business owner and need some guidance, which she agreed to provide): "I am also certain you realize it took time to answer all your questions in person or over the phone. I understand that you came with very little knowledge of how the S-corps work, but it is not my place to educate for free." This is just a sampling, and there were were pleasant interactions as well. However, there is an overall air of superiority in her communications. Mila seems unable to take accountability for her choices, and deflects them onto her clients when there are negative consequences. For example, I am aware of a former client who fired her as a CPA due to her behavior. When I brought this to her attention, she advised that she fired the client, who is no longer welcome back. I'm aware of more another individual who plans to fire her because of their experiences with how rude she is. She may be good at math, but she is terrible with people.
