I felt some stress upon discovering that I may (or may not) be fined for not filing something that until today, I didn't even know was a thing. But as I've learned from a lawyer friend of mine, "ignorantia juris non excusat." For future reference, an adult pleading ignorance (i.e. "I didn't know") isn't afforded the same levels of leniency as when a child does it. So I called Roberg Tax Solutions, because the local (Oklahoma City) tax advisers are either not quick at responding, or are not willing to provide any insight without seeing dollar signs first. I got her voice mail. I figured that was the end of that, but she called me back within five minutes. I have never before had the pleasure of speaking with someone who was so helpful with tax advice. Along with the advice, I caught a hint of her kind personality, and she helped ease some of my stress. It's disappointing that I had to contact someone from out of state to get the help I needed, but at least I got the help I needed. While I don't live in St. Louis, I almost wish I did just so I could deal with a fantastic tax professional like Jan Roberg.

Long story short absolutely do NOT trust this business with your money. We own a small business and…read morewant to support small business, but these people give small business's a bad name. We were referred to them by a family member that used them for their small business. Which left this firm before we did due to other issues. We used them for 2 years before we decided to do our taxes ourselves due to our taxes owed seemed high. When we attempted to file our taxes ourselves (2023) they were rejected. We called the IRS and they said due to my wife's last name change (marriage) was not matching her social and we would have to change the way we filed. The IRS also said We could not file 2023 until we file 2022 which we paid Rice Sullivan to do. The IRS said our taxes (2022) were filed 5 times and rejected. We were never notified of this situation. We worked with the accountant to refile the taxes and sent them. The IRS went through a LENGTHY auditing process. They found that we did not provide one of the forms we were supposed to in 2022 which changed the tax amount. This was our fault but we were not asked for this form from Rice Sullivan. We had thousands of dollars in late fees and penalties for 2022 and 2023. The accountant filed an abatement to the IRS to try and lower the penalties. We paid all the taxes owed including the additional tax that was found during the auditing process, but not the penalties and fees. 12 weeks later we receive a letter from the IRS warning us this is the last notice before levying accounts and assets. We called the accountant and they said they have not heard anything from the IRS. We were on the phone with the IRS for 2 hours and got the abatements approved and cut the penalties in half. This entire situation started in March 2024 and finally "resolved" by January 2025 by my wife, not the paid "professional." We spoke with the accountant Erin and the owner Mark and they refuse to pay the penalties and late fees and will not provide a refund due to "we did the work". In fact they did not do the job we paid them to do and it ended up costing us a lot of money. This might be a small issue but speaks volumes about the people they are. They misspelled my wife's first name in an email, which is in her email address. It just goes to show their lack of attention to detail. DO NOT trust this business with your money due to their lack of communication, accountability and attention to detail. They are completely unprofessional due to the lack of effort in resolving the situation that was entirely their fault.
