Steven continually tried to miscategorize income that I already had categorized correctly. After…read moretelling him for the third time that he was wrong, he cut off all communication with me. After using every communication method that I had for this business within a 24-hour window, I reached out to Steven's mom. Who chose not to respond either. Steven wanted to clarify my rental income which he was wrong about, with my bookkeeper for my business taxes. The bookkeeper for my business taxes has nothing to do with the 1099s that Steven had. Steven that had conversations with my bookkeeper about filing the business filings for the IRS. I did not engage Regal Tax Service or authorized them to do this. They tell me that they have communications from me authorizing them to do this. I have already paid a separate accountant to handle the business filings, therefore I would not ask Regal tax to do this. This business continually miscategorized expenses that I had already categorized correctly. They tried to pick up unauthorized work and then charge me for it. they cut off all communication with me after I told them that they were wrong and that they needed to categorize my income correctly. Then they emailed me! And they tried to extort more money out of me after I did not authorize them to pick up the business filings! Then they dropped me as a client when I went down to their business and caused a scene. Look, when you screw up people's taxes, when you try to reach out to their other accountant on issues that your client can clarify so that you can charge them more money, when you pick up unauthorized work and try to extort more money out of the situation, when you cut all communication with your client, people tend not to be happy with that! After I caused the scene Shelly emailed me and tried to extort more money out of me for work that I did not authorize. I emailed her and let her know that We would not be at this point if Steven had not made several attempts to miscategorize already correctly categorized income. (I sent them spreadsheets with EVERYTHING categorized) We would not be at this point if he had asked myself or my assistant about the 1099s that we correctly classified as income. We would not be at this point if Regal Tax Service had not tried to pick up work that I did not authorize them to do. And we would not be at this point had they responded to my communications about these concerns. Shelly, say whatever you want. You screwed up my taxes. You tried to pick up unauthorized work. You tried to communicate with other accountants in my circle when I, or my assistant were the only people who could have clarified the issue. And as I tried to schedule meetings with you and my other accountants to clarify this & reached out to all of your communications methods, you cut off all communication with me. You would not have someone at your business, knocking at your door, if you weren't causing the problems that you have caused. Good luck with new clients! Would be zero stars if were an option. This review is not about the higher fees, as we did take a long time to get documents sent and had no issue paying more for good service. What this is about is unprofessional, offensive and incomplete service in receipt. I received a call stating we owe at least $20k in taxes, if not more after penalties & interest. As a small business, we hire another firm, a tax mediation specialist to review the situation, see what options exist and review for any errors. This is the exact response received from the owner: " I AM DISAPPOINTED AND INSULTED THAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT ANOTHER FIRM INVOLVED. WHAT THE F--CK YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO FIND? IT WILL BE FOR NOUGHT!!! " (JohnJ Kasperek, 4/2/21). If a screenshot could be included here, that would be done so, but this is a direct copy & paste, no paraphrasing nor editing. Turns out...it was NOT for nought. Tax mediation firm found at least (6) errors, totaling more than $100k of short-term loans they miscategorized as revenue, creating the false tax obligation. When contacted to fix their errors, after dodging our emails for the better part of a month, the response received was: "After getting a different firm involved with your books, you should have just had them prepare the business return to your satisfaction." Since then, they've refused to make the appropriate, necessary corrections of their errors, refused to provide a refund for the incomplete tax return, and have also tried to manipulate us into a hold harmless agreement, of which we've refused. The damage caused is temporarily influx and will most likely result in several thousands of dollars in another firm correcting all their errors and amending the original return, not including any late penalties. If this is the type of treatment and professionalism they provide, especially when their work credibility is called into question, I can't recommend this business to my nearest competitor or worst enemy. They should have their licensing revoked at minimum.
