My Beautiful, Friendly and Loving Sheba!

After my Scathing Review of Crossroads Veterinary Hospital in Bastrop, I felt it only Fair that I spend the same amount of Effort to give a Review of Fayette County Veterinary Clinic. After the Deaths of my Previous Precious Babies (Tabitha and Samantha), I decided to get another Companion (Sheba) - Not as a Replacement (you can't Replace a Lost Loved One), but simply as a New Companion. I had Received Multiple Suggestions that I should give Fayette County Veterinary Clinic a Look. And as they Assisted me with a Previous Issue, I decided to take Sheba to them for a "Checkup". It was a Pleasant Experience. Later, Sheba developed a Rapidly Expanding Growth on/in her Throat, so - after attempting to Repair her myself unsuccessfully, I took her to the Clinic - Multiple Times. The 1st Two Times, a Different Vet each Time Treated her with Different Antibiotics, however the Growth would Resurface - with a Vengeance. After some Frustration of taking the Long Trip to them (they're a Good Clip from Bastrop) and paying for Two unsuccessful Treatments, I took her again for a 3rd Visit and they had a Vet that had been in the Trade for a while to Look at her. His Diagnosis was that there appeared to be something embedded in her Throat that needed to be Removed and we Scheduled for him to Cut her Throat Open in an Attempt to Locate and Remove the Issue. He Performed the Operation as a "Day Surgery" as I Waited out in the Parking Lot to be able to take her back Home with me as soon as she was Ready. It's now been Several Weeks since the Operation and a Couple of Weeks since the Last Dose of Antibiotics Prescribed and - Short of an Ugly Scar - she is doing Great! I want to be Clear that the 1st Two Vets were Loving and Caring and their Diagnosis was Valid. They did their Best to Cure her with Logical Conventional Means. And I'm Very Pleased and Grateful for their Efforts. Although Fayette County Veterinary Clinic is quite a Distance from Bastrop (where I Live), I'm Certain (so far) the Trip is Worth the Effort and will Continue to Happily choose their Services for my Precious Sheba going Forward. In Closing... If you're Looking for a Professional and Proficient Veterinarian that is Competent and Capable - and Treats you and your Animal with Care, I'd Strongly Recommend you give Fayette County Veterinary Clinic an Opportunity to Care for your 4-Legged Loved One as well. This place is great. Unlike most vet clinics this place generally cares about your animal. I recommend 100%.

They go above and beyond, they are absolute angels to my hairless cat (Rex) Rex has been sick and not wanting to eat this has caused me much stress and anxiety because my pets are my world. From the moment I entered the receptionist was so nice and helpful. The vet techs really care and kept him wrapped in his blanket as much as possible to keep him warm. You can just tell this is a great environment to work in. Also the pricing for services is beyond reasonable. I have not had the chance to meet the other Vets here but if Dr.M's care is an indicator or the caliber of expertise in this location I know my pets and I will always be in excellent hands Thank you to all who help care for Rex and this anxious mama.

I am extremely disappointed with how Bastrop Veterinary Hospital handled my dog's appointment…read moretoday. My dog is a Great Dane with advanced dilated cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation, and congestive heart failure. He is essentially on hospice care and takes more than 30 medications a day. Because of his severe heart condition, his cardiologist has instructed that he cannot be vaccinated due to the risk to his heart. Bastrop Veterinary Hospital already knows this. My dog has been treated there before, including earlier this year when they performed tests that were ordered by his cardiologist. They have our account, his medical history, and all of this information on file. I scheduled a nail trim appointment because my dog is in pain from overgrown nails and he will not allow me to trim them at home. I explained his medical condition in the appointment notes and that he is reactive and would need to be handled carefully. Before the appointment, the clinic even called and left a voicemail reminding me to give him anxiety medication before coming in. I still had trazodone from a previous visit, so I medicated him 90 minutes before the appointment exactly as instructed. Getting him to the clinic is not easy. Car rides are extremely stressful for him because of his advanced heart disease. I specifically chose this clinic because it is close to my home and minimizes that stress. When we arrived, I told them I would wait in the car because he does not do well around other dogs. They initially agreed. However, they then brought me inside and had me wait in the lobby anyway while they prepared a room, which immediately put him into a stressful situation I had asked to avoid. When they finally took him to the back, I placed a muzzle on him and tightened it to make sure he could not get it off so that staff would be safe. They told me it would only take a moment. Six minutes later, someone came out with a clipboard and told me they could not perform the nail trim because he is not vaccinated. This was shocking and extremely frustrating. They already knew my dog's medical history. They had treated him previously without vaccinations because of his severe heart condition. They had just called me beforehand to ensure he was medicated for the visit. Yet no one bothered to mention that they would refuse treatment once I arrived. Instead, they let me go through the process of medicating a critically ill dog, putting him through the stress of a car ride, muzzling him, and waiting, only to tell me after the fact that they wouldn't help him. My dog is in pain because his nails cannot be trimmed safely at home, which is exactly why I brought him to professionals. If the clinic had simply called ahead of time and said they could not perform the service, that would have been understandable. Instead, they put a very sick dog through unnecessary stress and wasted our time. It was incredibly disappointing and frankly unacceptable.

My sweet 2 year old cat, Chip, required a 48 hour stay, which was very emotionally tolling (and extremely expensive - get pet insurance BEFORE your pet gets sick! Heed my warning!!), but the staff here are simply incredible. They were patient, kind, informative, and very supportive. They let me visit him whenever I wanted, they helped me understand his condition, and I really appreciate the level of care they offered during such a stressful time. Chip is on the mend, all thanks to them!

I had just learned my dog, Bonnie, had a massive splenic mass (later found to weigh 8.5 pounds) that could rupture at any moment, yet another emergency clinic told me surgery wouldn't be possible for weeks. When I called VEG, Dr. Lisa answered and immediately said, "Come now." That moment alone meant everything! She recognized the urgency and helped me navigate an incredibly difficult decision with empathy and clarity. She is such a kind person! Dr. Nina, who performed Bonnie's surgery, was outstanding. When I met her, I immediately felt reassured because she had such a calm confidence. This was a very high risk surgery, but I felt like we were in the best place we could be. And I was right because surgery was a success! The nurses and techs - Noemy, Kelsey, and Gina - were also amazing. They stayed in constant communication and made me feel informed, included, and genuinely cared for every step of the way. I've never experienced veterinary care like this. VEG didn't just care for my dog. They cared for me and my whole family, and I will always be grateful.
