I was told by the man that answered the phone that they were booked up for Monday and Tuesday and I should take her to an emergency vet clinic. He said that the vet wasn't in yet and he would talk with her and call me back. It's been 24 hours and I have not heard from them. From reading other reviews, this seems to be a common thing. You can't count on this vet to see your dog when there is an emergency health issue and when she is an established patient. Take my advice. Go elsewhere. I was able to get an appointment on Monday afternoon at Essential Vet Care. They were wonderful and I highly recommend them. It turns out that my dog has a tumor either on her liver or her spleen and will be having exploratory surgery on Thursday.

Then Huddleston and his assistant arrived to give one of our fur babies his rabies vaccine and to euthanize our 14 yr old aussie/ border collie mix and he was kind and gave me a few minutes to sit with her and say goodbye and gave me the choice to stay with her or not to watch...I chose to stay by her side while he explained each step. His assistant sat with me and watched the hummingbirds and just kind of offered some quiet comfort and talking about the hummingbirds hovering around which helped making the difficult situation a bit more peaceful and very compassionate. Having dealt with feline diabetes before, I suspected that was the issue -- but we also learned he was FIV positive on top of the diabetes diagnosis. As you can imagine, this was a pretty emotional appointment for us. The veterinarian we saw was actually wonderful. She was reassuring, informative, compassionate, and walked us through lifestyle and diet changes that could help our cat still have a happy, healthy life. We were told insulin would be needed, given instructions for follow-up testing in a few weeks, and asked where we wanted the prescription sent. We requested Costco. So far, so good. Then we walked out to pay. The front desk staff member we dealt with had all the warmth and compassion of a parking ticket. After receiving difficult news about a beloved pet, interacting with someone who seemed to actively resent both her job and every living person around her was... not exactly comforting. But somehow, it got worse. The next day, we received a call from a vet tech letting us know our nearest Costco was out of insulin and asking if we had another pharmacy preference. I explained we were fine with any Costco location and, if needed, we could explore online pharmacy options. She said okay, and that was that. The next day, I received a text from the Costco pharmacy in Pflugerville saying they'd received the prescription request but were also out of stock. No problem -- shortages happen. So I called Animal Medical Center back simply trying to figure out the next step so we could get our newly diagnosed diabetic cat his medication. The receptionist listened, placed me on hold, and then told me a vet tech would be calling me back. The next day, I called back, telling the receptionist who I was, that we had spoken the previous morning and no tech had ever phoned me back. She placed me on hold, and a vet tech got on the phone and informed me that the veterinarian we had seen was "just a visiting vet" and would not be back for three weeks... therefore they "couldn't help me." I genuinely thought there had to be some misunderstanding. I explained the situation again. Slowly. Clearly. No misunderstanding. I was told AGAIN that because the vet wasn't there, nobody else could help because they "didn't know anything" about our cat's case. I'm sorry... what? You diagnosed a cat with diabetes, prescribed insulin, instructed us on urgent treatment steps, and then effectively shrugged your shoulders the moment obtaining that medication became complicated? My flabber was absolutely gasted. I understand staffing limitations. I understand substitute veterinarians. What I do NOT understand is how a functioning veterinary practice has absolutely no continuity of care plan for a newly diagnosed diabetic animal. The complete breakdown in communication, accountability, and patient support was honestly shocking. Needless to say, we will never trust this clinic with another animal again, and I have actively warned others to look elsewhere for veterinary care.
