I had a great experience with FBR. I have an electric vehicle that would not start due to a 12V battery issue, unable to shift into neutral, and all 4 wheels were locked. I had two previous tow truck companies attempt to tow my car and were unable to do so. Once I contacted FBR, Wayne came out quickly, was knowledgeable about the situation (how to manually engage neutral, how to raise the locked rear wheels, and carefully pull it up using dollies). He was courteous, knowledgeable, and able to work with a challenging situation (car was located partially on a hill). Cannot recommend them enough, overall just a great experience. Towing companies can be particularly frustrating but this one came through. When my car broke down and I called a Towing company they were too booked and recommended I call FBR. I never have had a business recommend another but it was very appreciated. They were fast to respond, attentive, and the tow was $50. They even looked at my car and let me know what they thought the issue was - they were right about it too! My car wouldn't start at the 7-11 on Barracks Rd, my friend came and picked me up. He lives like 2 minutes away, used my insurance provided road side assistance, even made a note on the online form that I wasn't with the vehicle, but could be there in 2 minutes and please have the driver call when he was getting close if there was an issue. No problem. Later dispatcher is a total jerk after I called to see if everything was ok, said he was canceling the tow and hung up. I called my insurance and made sure they knew how bad a company they were contracting. They sent AC's Towing, who did a great job, no rudeness or snarky crap. read more

Do not call them! I was already having a bad day because my car keys were not working. I call them and they sent someone EXTREMELY RUDE! He was struggling a lot to open my car and at the end he couldn't open it. He just said he couldn't do it and left leaving behind one of his tools. So it has come to my attention that my review has been marked as "not recommended" LOL. To help my fellow consumers, I will just keep posting until my review is recommended to all because it 100% valid and honest. SO BOOOM.... IF COULD GIVE THIS COMPANY A 0 OR HONESTLY A -5 I WOULD, because I literally had the worst experience with them 2 weeks ago (IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR NOW). So, I got into a car accident and was a little shaken by the entire event. My roommate calls for this company to tow my car because my phone had died while on the phone with my insurance company. The guy comes and he already has a nasty attitude. First, he says the tow will cost $150 because it is an accidental tow (which WAS NOT indicated when my roommate called). Keep in mind my apartment was about a mile away from where we were. Both my roommate and I are trying to explain that the pricing was literally unreasonable and he won't even let us talk. Then, he starts taking pictures of the damage of my car WITHOUT my consent and proceeds to do so even after I tell him to stop. So now we are arguing and I tell him to just leave so I can call another company to tow my car. This mans tells me I have to pay an additional $50 fee for him showing up, and I literally laugh in his face. LIKE WHAT A JOKE. My roommate calls his dispatcher to explain the situation and he's barely listening to her as well. I did not pay him a dime. He eventually leaves and I call a different company (Shull's which I would give a complete 5/5, they came in 30 minutes and charged me $50 + had an amazing attitude). Moral of the story is DODGE THIS BULLET BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY. They are TERRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

This place was a nightmare. My son had an accident so the car was towed here. Trying to contact them and then have the car moved closer to home was a struggle. The office staff were rude and the place was full of family members and pizza boxes. Dirty, crowded, and disorganized. Definitely not a professionally run organization. Stuck at a rest stop on westbound Interstate 64 with a 2003 suburban with 200,000 miles. Not unexpected, but very worried and frustrated. Needing to travel another 1,000 miles in a day. We scheduled an appointment to have our car towed the night before, for a 7:30 am appointment on the following day. The Tow truck did not show up UNTIL 7:30 When I called to voice my opinion on the matter WAYNE. Was very nonchalant and uncaring. When he talked to my boyfriend he said someone would be there before 7:30. That did not happen. Then when he talked to me he said it was scheduled at that time. He then proceeded to tell me their priority is to the police if they have calls and that the truck was at a wreck. I had a problem recently with an employee of FBR towing that leads me to recommend that this company should be avoided for any kind of job. I am a 76-year-old man and I was out knocking on doors for a political candidate a couple of weeks ago. I came to a house on Dominion Drive in Albemarle County where there was a large FBR truck parked in the front yard, so the occupant of the house was obviously employed by that company. I knocked on the door once (or maybe I rang the bell instead) and a guy opened the door. Before I could even get a word out, he said in a threatening tone of voice, "You are disturbing my family - get off my property!" Not wanting to talk to anyone who was openly hostile, I turned to leave without saying a word and then he said loudly, "Get off my property or I will call the police and have you arrested for trespassing!" Again, I did not respond and, as I was walking back across his yard at a normal pace toward the sidewalk, the lunatic came out on his front porch and shouted in a loud voice, "I'm watching you - you are still on my property!" Then he said it again just before I reached the sidewalk, as if I could somehow sprout wings and fly off his property and land on the sidewalk. Based on this episode, there are two excellent reasons to avoid FBR at all costs. First, they might send out this individual who I believe is mentally disturbed and, based on his aggressive attitude, potentially violent. Second, it says something about the company that they would employ someone like this and put him in a position of trust where he is allowed to keep one of their trucks at his house where it serves as a form of advertising for the company. I believe it is fair for a company to be held responsible for the actions of its employees toward the public and, if it were my company, this guy would have been fired long ago. So I strongly recommend that you AVOID FBR! There are other good towing company alternatives - companies who employ helpful and courteous employees and do a good job. read more

If I could rate this company 0 stars I would , so my alternator went bad literally 2 miles away from the mechanic shop and I called my insurance and they called FBR to tow my car. Guy who was sent was very unkind, he even suggested to replace it on the spot which was very stupid. If I didn't need tow I wouldn't call. Anyway, he took my car key and did his work. I followed him to the shop and he dropped my car off and obviously angry cause he has to work, never said anything about my keys. Which I found on my car seat. The driver (of truck #2, "night crawler") was courteous, professional, and quickly brought me to my mechanic. As a Land Rover driver, I know I'll need towing again in the future. The trucks are parked in a lot a little down the road, so we had to hitch the dolly to the truck ourselves because only one guy was working at the time. This business is really shady. My friend was moving out of his apartment and once we had everything loaded into his car, which was parked in his own designated numbered spot we ran back inside to give his parking permit back to the leasing office. We were inside less than 10 minutes and when we came out his car had been towed, even though it was in his own spot. It happened so quickly, that I'm pretty sure these guys were trolling around waiting to prey on people moving out in similar situations. Really really questionable business practices. I rented a uhaul from this location to move to my new apartment and was charged $50.00 for parking in front of the gate. This company actively and willing participates in Charlottesville parking lot scams. Do not do business them ! I had gone into Sweethaus which is located at the back of a large parking lot in Charlottesville to get some cupcakes for my family at 7:00 when it was dark outside. Parked directly across from Sweethaus, 10 feet from the door but apparently they only own the parking space right in front of their door. In the five minutes I was inside a FBR Towing had driven by, spotted my car, and already had it up on the truck. Charged me $50 to drop it. Apparently the only sign indicating the tow zone is as one pulls into the lot, unilluminated. No sign in front of Sweethaus at all. Any company that essentially trolls for tow jobs doesn't deserve any of our business in this town. Do not support dishonest business practices. There are lots more honest ways to make a buck than what these guys do for a living. read more
