Moved to the area recently and was weary about finding an automotive repair shop that I could trust. Palmyra Automotive was recommended and I visited them. I was taken aback to find out that everything they do is by appointment only, so I scheduled my first appointment for an inspection. They took me right on time and let me know that my car needed some adjustments, for which they scheduled me for within 2 days and drove me back and forth to home while the car was being serviced. Now, after 3 different appointments (for other work) I feel that yes indeed I can recommend this business. Everyone there is very professional and knowledgeable, especially the lady in the office. I was dreading bringing my car in to get a state inspection because of COVID but I was able to make a 8am appointment. I drove up and was seen within five minutes and waited in the grass sitting on my chair that I brought with me. The mechanic had gloves on but no mask (I was a bit surprised about that but he was an older gentleman and perhaps it was hard for him to breathe with a mask on)? The store door was locked so you had to knock on the door and Stephany (I believe that was her name) came out to greet me and came out so I could pay her. She explained that she is leaving the store door locked and I 100% agree with her. There is no need for anyone to have to go into the store to talk to her or to pay. It can all be done on the phone or Stephany can come outside. I was extremely impressed but I am only giving four stars because I did not see but one mechanic wearing a mask. I think it is fine but if you are going into a car you should have a mask on. read more

I had passed by and talked to Stephanie she fit me in a week. It pains me to do this, since I'd been using Palmyra Automotive for years, but recently we had some bad experiences that I simply could not overlook. We took our 2006 car in because the check engine light came on, when we picked it up, the car started OK, but the check engine light came back on when we were 5 miles down the road. We returned to Palmyra Automotive and told them about the light, and we were told we'd need to spend another $50 for them just to look at the vehicle, since "it was all right when you drove away." My husband raised some Cain, because we needed the car for a road trip, Palmyra Automotive reluctantly waved the "look at it" fee, and supposedly fixed the car properly. It wasn't until we were on our road trip, with 200 miles between us and the shop when things started going haywire. The "service air bag" light would come on intermittently, then go out, the "check engine light" would come on for a bit, then go away, and the "change oil" direction came up on the built-in GPS (an oil change was one of the things we had paid for this time around!), and we basically kept our fingers crossed and were able to make it home without breaking down. A quick trip to another shop in our area, Mac's Service Center in Troy, and we found out that while the oil and filter had been changed, the car's onboard computer had not been updated so the car thought it still needed the oil changed. The haywire readings had also been caused by minor issues, some dirt on a sensor for the airbag and a mistaken code entered into the computer. So, Palmyra Automotive didn't ruin our car, but they added to our stress on what was supposed to have been a fun family trip. That hassle, coupled with the absolutely HORRENDOUS customer service we received through this ordeal has made me rethink my once-good opinion of this shop. read more

my 2006 Chevy truck experienced a brake malfunction. I have used them in the past with good results. However I was informed that I needed 20 feet of brake lines. After being told twice that there was a delay I finally was told that it was ready. I raised the hood to see the new lines before leaving the shop. What I saw shocked me. They had pieced together my old brake lines using brass compression fittings. This is not the quality of work I was expecting. Any shade tree mechanic could have used sub standard parts and completed unsafe work. When I talked to Wayne the owner and informed him that I was not accepting the repair when I was quoted complete lines replacement not a peice job... I told him that I was not trying to be a dick but I just wanted a safe job. He replied yes you are... After this is completed I will never use this business again. If you need service please take your needs else where.... DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS. read more

First time there, brought truck in for a over due annual inspection due to out of state travels... they got me right in.... found the predicted burnt out bulb that you normally get charged for...but it must have been burnt out as they replaced it at a very reasonable cost , $3 and didn't even charge labor. So so pleased with the service I scheduled more maintenance repairs there for next week. read more

Used to be a great reliable place. A few years ago they moved and the service went downhill. Plus the "front desk" help is more interested in flirting than service. The mechanics don't care about your safety. They don't double check their work, i was given my keys after a simple inspection only to find i had a dead battery. The mechanic, on his way out the door jumped it then said he had to jump it to get it into the garage. Somethng i should have been told so i didn't get stranded elsewhere. Simple courtesy, never mind that they might have sold me a battery. I can't leave my car with someone who doesn't care if i crash on the way home.no stars... read more

Folks, I had some more interaction with Palmyra Auto -- and I had a very good experience. My second car developed a problem -- the gas tank intake wouldn't allow the gas station pump nozzle to fit in. Palmyra looked at it, resolved the problem. They worked me into a busy schedule, solving the problem the first morning. And, because it was a fluke problem (the cable between the gas door and the interlock stuck), they did not charge me. And, as usual, the staff was positive, informed, and courteous. So, I'm upgrading my review to 4 stars. and p.s. In case you were wondering, they did this without being aware that I was the author of the previous review. So, I believe Palmyra Auto merits a rescore. read more

Very friendly people who really try to help out. Last time I went in, my windshield spray wasn't working - and it was because the tube came off. They fixed it in no time and didn't even charge me. I trust them not to manufacture problems during inspections. read more

The sold me new brakes when that wasn't even what my vehicle needed. I had a computer issue that was saying it was brakes but it was the computer. One would think they would have been able to see that when looking at the brakes but I ended up having to go else where and spend more money to get it fixed right and was just out the $500 + they charged me for the brakes I really didn't need. read more

I had been procrastinating with getting my car inspection. I needed to get it done this month so I went to Palmyra Auto on the recommendation from Campbell's Tires. They told me they were busy and it would be a three hour wait. I decided to wait because I had set aside the day to get stuff like this done anyway. After around 90 minutes, they had seen my car and had all my paperwork ready. The front of the house people were pleasent and the mechaninc told me everything I needed to know. This is definitely one of the best experiences I've had at a car place. read more

Convenient for routine car inspections and major auto repair.. Honest - they do not try to nickel and dine you by finding things wrong but do let you know if there is a problem. Easy to schedule appointments. Have always been very pleased with the work done on our cars. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Once, my sister drove 200 miles to visit on day before holiday, a check engine light came on a few miles from our house - we called them at 3pm on day before Thanksgiving and they were nice enough to tell her to bring car over right then and they figured out problem, fixed it and she was able to enjoy Thanksgiving with us and still safely drive home to be at her nursing job the day after - now,that is A++++ service! read more

I went there for a inspection for my 1996 Grand Marquis, First time using them and heard great stories about them. Of course car failed and I was ok with it and drove off until I looked in my car and around my car, and found grease spot on my door and on my driver side flip down mirror. I was very upset called them back and turned around to show the Manager Lady and argue about it and she said her employee's we're clean and haven't work on a car yet. I didn't believe her and told her I was not coming back for service. I should have readed reviews before I went. Never recommend then to no one ever! Very slow service too!!!! read more
