A.C.C.H Beauty Academy - Client requested layers in the back, but cut is straight across. Color is too blonde, not natural or what was requested.

I met one of the employees there who informed me full leg waxing cost $70 dollars. This seems a bit steep for a beauty school,...ahhh matter no. I will most likely check this place out on a Monday when I am not working. In the mean time, this place was pretty busy from what I saw. The front desk lady was polite so I will definitely return here. Like I said, the haircut i received here was good. Now i will try the waxing at a later date....that day will be soon. Oh, the language spoken here is 90% Spanish, and ten percent English, but most of the staff understands English do you should be fine.

The name here on Yelp doesn't imply it, but this is a hair and nail salon connected with a…read morecosmetology school. They do men's and women's hair, but this review is only of the women's hair service. My wife had her hair cut and colored with a base color and highlights today. The price was quite reasonable ($68 for all this) but that's really the only positive thing we can say about ACCH. The staff and clients here are heavily Latino, which wasn't a problem for us. My wife is from Peru and it usually helps in salons if the provider speaks Spanish too so there aren't problems due to miscommunication. My wife wanted everything the same as she had before from another salon -- same cut, same color, same highlights. She had photos (of a model, not of her) that she had used before to show the cut that she wanted. The problems started describing the cut -- the woman cutting her hair disputed with her how the cut was done (it's layered in the back, but she insisted that it wasn't layered). The cut she ultimately did is straight across in the back, not layered. I'm totally fine with professionals that I'm buying services from having opinions, but in the end, after everyone's had their say, the client gets to decide. In this case, my wife was the client, but the woman giving the cut just did what she wanted. This continued with the color. For a base color, my wife just wants her natural color, unchanged. The color is just to cover any gray. The woman showed my wife the color she proposed to use, my wife told her it was too light, and again she argued with her. "No, it's not too blonde" -- and then goes ahead and uses the color she prefers rather than what my wife wants. The highlights are just badly done. Highlights should be fine, and should start at the root. in some places these leave 3/4 inch of hair dark, then the highlight starts. In some cases it's way too wide -- more than 1/2 inch. It looks like stripes of blonde painted unevenly onto her head. We won't be back. If you're very hard up for cash or just don't have any opinions about what you want, ACCH might be OK, but otherwise you're likely to be disappointed.

We've been very happy with Communikids Falls Church. Imagine! A preschool with immersion classes…read morewith three language options. The program is wonderful as are the teachers. All teachers are native speakers of the target language. There are many options to choose from as far as pickups and drop-off times, so it can work with your budget/ schedule. They will take children who are not potty trained yet and actually assist you in that process! Snack is provided by the school. Lunch is provided by the families, or there is an option to purchase a got lunch from a 3rd party who will deliver it. Around $5-6 depending on the options you've chosen. The summer program is also great! They go up to age 6 or 7 depending on the language. I would say the program is a bit more expensive than others in the area, but you are getting language exposure (and possibly potty training help) so I think it's fair. The school also has several accreditations that have minimums standards that must be adhered to and that provides structure that you might not see elsewhere. That costs money, and it's money well spent. The teachers wear gloves when handing out food, there are always dates on lunches Ave water bottles. It's a tighter organization than some. Additionally, the non refundable deposits are higher than other area schools, but again, the school has to secure native language speakers in all three languages for each class level and they need firm numbers. So read the fine print (it's there for you) and don't sign up if you plan on canceling if something you like better opens up. This is not the program to do that with. The learning is play based and my only wish is that it was a little *less* structured. However, I'm unusual in that I prefer a Waldorf type atmosphere, and that's not the usual vibe in this area were people are dreaming of Harvard while baby is still in utero . All in all we've been so happy with Communikids and I hope they start extending their summer program to older kids.

If I could give less than one star I would. Teachers are wonderful but administration is terrible…read moreregarding handing of the pandemic and all of the issues as a result. They refused to give me any refund for summer camp deposit of $1400 that was made 7 months ago (in January). Now they may or may not be willing to give a partial refund sometime between now and October of this year. I'm sorry but remote learning for a 2-4 year old is not helpful, so unless your ok with paying money to let your child sit front of a computer at home then don't bother sending your child here.
