I have been going to fear fair for many years. It is going down hill. Maybe it is because it is hard to find people to work it but it very slim on the scares. It has been better. The new midway they have is nice. The concession stand was good and affordable. read more

Been to a lot of haunted houses. In pa, wv and Ohio and this is one of the best the props, the animatronics and the rooms/decor/setup was excellent, the graveyard was one of the coolest parts, def one of the top ones i been to would def reccomend and go again, my girlfriend def jumped a few times and usually she don't jump much at haunted houses... the best part of it is when u go they let u go by yourselves not in large groups with strangers so you def have the chance to get scared without the teeny boppers screaming and hollering and people in back not getting jack read more

So, at the start of October, I lamented to a salesgirl in a store that there were no good scare attractions in Bloomington, IN. She tells me a great one is Fear Fair in Seymour. She tells me it's super-scary, award-winning frights. I was ecstatic for a review of something that wasn't Indy Scream Park. To cut waiting in line times, I purchased tickets for my boyfriend and I, the "extra fear" ones, where a glowstick worn around your neck tells the performers you're down to be touched. I'd never been to a haunted house of any kind where they could touch you, and the reviews for this one were GLOWING. I was excited as heck. I even went so far as to pay an extra five for the "Last Ride: Buried Alive" simulator that my boyfriend wouldn't even consider. Then we drive the actual hour to get there. It's cold, of course, and there are people everywhere. Waiting in line. The line to the actual attraction is interesting enough, a DJ in a purge mask and suit blasting music, fire attractions, smoke bubbles. Not bad. But we don't get to wait in that line. Oh no, first, we have to go wait in line to trade in our online tickets for actual passes and our glowsticks (the signal to the performers you're okay with being touched). This line is a ways away from the attraction, people are smoking, vaping, drinking discreetly. Not sure why we bought online tickets, considering the wait times to buy tickets and the wait times to exchange online tickets for passes was about the same. Well over an hour. In the cold. When we get there, they inform me their "Buried Alive" simulator is broken, but if I'm willing to stand in the cold while the new girl tried to figure out how, they'll give me my five bucks back. I told them not to worry about it. We finally get out glowsticks, and head to the next line, the one to the actual attraction. DJ blasting everything from Rihanna, Rob Zombie, Genuwine. We stand in line looking at memes on our phones. For over hour. Again. We finally make it inside the attraction, wait another 20 minutes, and finally come face-to-face with the first performer, a cute guy in his 20s, dressed like a wounded soldier, basically confirming with everyone what the glowsticks mean and making sure we're okay with what we've agreed to. (If we're not, we throw the glowsticks at any time, the performers back off.) He explains "they will touch you, and this means GRAB you, SLAM you against walls, PICK YOU UP like a sack of potatoes and carry you around, SEPARATE YOU from your group." My boyfriend and I are anxious at this point, this being new to us, but we, hehe, soldier on. (There were a pile of abandoned glowsticks at the start of the attraction.) Then we finally make it inside. I'm not going to spoil it for you, and go into great detail, but I will give you the gist. A lot of animatronics, a few jump scares, smoke machines, loud noises, good theme elements, nice make-up jobs, but it just fell a bit short. Performers did touch us, but only in passing. A hand on your hair as you go by, or a touch of your wrist. Nothing like the wounded soldier at the start inferred, we were never "grabbed" "slammed" or "picked up" and we were never separated. A performer came up behind us with a metal shovel, banging it on the walls and scaring the family we were grouped with (they don't like just two people going in.) My boyfriend and I just laughed. A performer brushed my hair away from my face and told me I smelled like I was "frisky between the sheets" and asked my boyfriend if he liked to be choked, he "look[ed] the type." When we finally got out and found ourselves in the parking lot, we kind of stared at each other. That was it? I screamed once because of a jump-scare, he never screamed at all. In fact, when he found out I was writing this, he told me to mention the scariest part for him was when he almost tripped. We actually laughed through most of it. It was really fun, but just... not that scary. It was cool, but not worth sitting in the cold at 11pm waiting for 2 hours. I see other people giving it five stars, saying it's the best they've ever been to, and I feel... disappointed. This is it? This is the scariest we can muster? Don't get me wrong, it was fun and there was nothing necessarily *wrong* with it. Just extremely over-hyped and not worth the wait. It was a good horror house. Just... not that good. Next year, we're going to Indy Scream Park and I pray they aren't as unremarkable as this one. read more

I was pretty excited about the proclamation that Fear Fair had just completed its biggest and best renovation yet. After last year's adventure, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, Fear Fair did not meet them. It seems Fear Fair has received a boost in popularity since last year, which lead to a 1.5 hour wait time for the Fast Pass (I think we waited a total of 30 minutes last year). In retrospect, the extra $5 didn't really make anything "faster" this year. About the first half of the place has been completely transformed and is very different from last year, which focused primarily on classic horror films. While the new sets are structurally very impressive (spared no expense!), I found myself wanting more. Very few of the sets were populated appropriately. Once section in particular, modeled after the above-ground mausoleums of New Orleans, seemed to go on forever - with only one actor in the entire area. Not exactly what I'd consider a "haunt". The Walking Dead set was the most lively area of the place and, much like last year, the actors are very aggressive. My friend was pulled so hard by the back of her arm that she had already formed a huge bruise by the time we got back into the car. I left feeling extremely underwhelmed, which isn't exactly what you want from a $25 haunted house with a two-hour wait time and a two-hour round trip. Looks like I'll be finding a new place to check out next year! read more

Woooh this haunt is a beauty! Everything is so detailed from costumes to sets. They get a little extra with their line entertainment. Lasers, fireworks, fire, edm. You get a picture before entering. OK, I've been to lots of haunted attractions spanning several states. There are tons that I enjoy, yet I seem to always tell my friends that Fear Fair is my favorite. You can just tell they put in a ton of work in this place to try to make it as realistic as possible. We'll start with Hangar 17. This the first section of the haunt, and it is supremely intense. You will be grabbed and pulled through the beginning section with machine guns going off all around you. I even had a gun pointed right at my face at one point. Talk about unnerving. Next is the Cinema of Fear. Fear Fair is known for recreating horror movie scenes with so much detail that it feels like you're walking onto the set of the actual movie. Before you enter a scene, you'll see one of those movie clappers that will say which movie you're about to walk into. Just about every horror movie you can think of is represented: Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, Jeepers Creepers, Hellraiser, Halloween, Scream, Saw, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. They're all here. There's even a brand new Walking Dead scene that is just flat out awesome. This year they tried out something new called "Myctophobia" on two nights. Get a load of these rules: 1. You must be over 18 and sign a waiver 2. You must go through alone 3. You will be touched, restrained, and sensory deprivations applied 4. You cannot speak I went last night and it was the most intense haunted house experience I've ever had. I don't want to give away too much, because the best part is having absolutely no clue what you are about to experience. If you know what's coming it will just ruin it for you. I couldn't recommend it enough for haunt enthusiasts & thrill seekers alike. You've got to come see this place. read more

I first visited Fear Fair in 2008. Off of a whim, I decided that the close distance and good rate of $10 per victim was an enticing offer. Also, the website advertised "Texas Chainsaw Massacre Village" which was something I had never seen at any other haunted attraction I've been to. I was with a group of three other friends, and anxiously walked up to the ticket booth. We purchased our tickets, and were relieved that the line didn't look that long. In dismay we noticed a complete indoor waiting room of hundreds of eager guests. We walked inside the building, and the line was wrapped around countless twists and turns, up and down stairs. When we got to the front of the line, we were sent in a group of seven, me of course being the leader. The haunt started with a saloon, that lead in to a jail and then a suicide scene in which a cowboy ends his life due to the influx of nightmares due to the haunt. Afterwards, a walk by the waiting crowd takes you into the hotel, where winding stairs and low ceilings take you on an adventure into the movies section of the haunt, my favorite part! Going through a reproduction of the old movie theater, with authentic smells and sounds, leads to the front porch of the Myer's house. A perfect reproduction of the house, with even a real estate sign reading "Strode Reality" welcomes the guests inside the home. Opening the front door, the kitchen had a dead rat on the counter and was dead quiet. As we walked into the hallway, a seemingly harmless bookcase is shoved open, and The Boogeyman himself emerges in full force. His presence is terrifying, and his costume is dead-on and movie quality. He disappeared behind the bookcase, and we all wonder where he went. As we walked through the room, an empty bed and a dresser as if from the first Halloween movie is perfectly detailed. Suddenly, Myers comes crashing through the white shuttered closet doors (as from "Halloween") and terrorizes our group with his knife. As it weird as it sounds, everyone in our group were Michael Myers fans. We stopped as he reset himself behind the closet, and I waited for him to come back. In disappointment, we made our way into the next room, and all the sudden I was grabbed through the window in complete surprise. I asked him to touch me with his knife so I could tell if it was real, and he obliged and brushed the knife against my arm. I couldn't believe the actor was willing to do this, and was happy with my experience in the room as I walked into the next room. The next room was the Frankenstein laboratory, in which a Tesla coil is a shocking experience in itself. Elm Street is the next room, in which Freddy awaits by his steaming, smoking boiler room. Freddy sticks his head through a stretchy wall, a scene from the first "Nightmare on Elm Street," and awaits you as he torments you with his glove of knives. Leaving Elm Street, my group entered Camp Crystal Lake, and were welcomed by Jason Vorhees himself. We escaped him and his sharp machete in the cabin, but were attacked again when he was suddenly in the cabin. We made our way through the exit, and outside where a reproduction of the shrine to the decomposed head of Mrs. Vorhees from "Friday the 13th Part 2" was on a picnic table. The next few rooms included: "Hellraiser" with Pinhead and Chatterer awaiting you being surrounded by chains and hanging body parts, a tribute to "Scream" with lifelike dummies tricking the people in my group of who is an actor and who is a dummy, and into a cave, which a waterfall adds to the quality scenery that aides Fear Fair in standing out in my mind. The next room is introduced by Jigsaw himself, as the actor dressed as the puppet from "Saw" leads the men in one bathroom stall, and women in the other bathroom stall. The women are left vulnerable for a surprise attack, and many of the girls in my group were so afraid that they were on the ground, terrified of the pig masked villain. Escaping the room, a black maze of twists and turns led to the outside of the Fear Fair building. Going outside of the building, we entered "Texas Chainsaw Massacre Village," and we could hear the chainsaws as we made our way through a perfect reproduction of Travis County. An old junked car sits in view, as Leatherface comes out of the shadows. His chainsaw is loud, and the smell of gas and oil burning authenticates the realism of the experience. You can feel the chainsaw vibrating on your skin as the actor attacks you the saw, but there is no escape from the multiple Leatherfaces. I loved Fear Fair, and was impressed by the actors and movie-quality scenery in the haunt. I would recommend this haunt to anyone who wants to experience a quality haunted attraction without having to spend an arm and a leg to do so. By: Joanna Rose read more

I heard this was a great haunted house so it must have really gone downhill because there was nothing scary about it. The fast pass is a bit of a scam because you still have to stand in line with everyone else to get your ticket, even if you purchased online. There are a lot of animatronics and not a lot of actual people "scaring" you. There is no air and even on a cool night it was so hot in there that I couldn't wait to get out. The port-a-pot was too disgusting to be usable. I've been to four of these types of places and this was by far the worst. read more

This is my favorite haunted attraction within 100 miles. Last year I went through on a busy Saturday night, with some screaming ass teenagers..Ages 17, 14 & 13. We had a great time! The wait was long but so worth it! The scenes were great and the place seemed to have plenty of crazy actors! They do touch and separate you from your group, however as per some of these other reviews, no one in our group felt physically threatened, no one was assaulted or violated in anyway..their hands on tactics only added to the experience! Those kids were screaming and pissing themselves and we never got kicked out. The doll in the bourbon street scene was the scariest thing I ever seen!! Creepy!!! Fear Fair is the BEST!! 4 hours and some change in line and a lot of unused space inside. All and all once inside there where a lot of creative ideas and props but they needed way more people than they had because the whole thing felt empty more than anything. I guess it would have been okay If I had maybe got in in 20 mins and it didn't eat my entire Saturday night. I got there at 830 and got into the attraction about 130am and came out at 148am. Go to waverly or somewhere in Louisville for a better bang for your buck and time. read more

I just went there this past Saturday with my 18 year old daughter and 17 year old son. This used to be my favorite place. I dont dont like the witches and zombies, ocasional movie theme. But i dont focus on that as long as i get scared. It was awful. I wasnt scared once. We spent $30 a person for a fast past just to go on the inside and get an another line. Then, by the first room we were already caught up with the people in front of us and the people behind us caught up with us, at some points we were at a complete standstill just standing in rooms. We were just like an assembly line going through. Extremely disappointed and let down and a waste of $90 and a two hour drive from Cincinnati. Then i messaged them on Facebook to let them know how terrible my experience was, no reply. read more
