Avoid if You Value Safe Living Conditions - Mold Issues and Legal Battle I lived at Featherton Crossing for just a few months, and during that time I experienced persistent mold issues that I believed posed a serious health and safety concern. After repeated maintenance visits failed to resolve the problem, I made the difficult decision to move out and pursue legal action. In magisterial court, Judge Randall Miller ruled in my favor based on the visible mold contamination, lack of resolution, and the overall living conditions I documented and testified to. Mold and Maintenance Concerns: Shortly after I moved in, visible mold began forming inside the laundry room, and despite multiple remediation attempts by the in-house maintenance team, the mold recurred. I hired a licensed mold inspection company, which found elevated mold levels. I also contacted local Code Enforcement, and Officer Dan Ford opened a file that, per my understanding, could not be closed until more thorough remediation was performed -- including removing parts of the laundry room wall to eliminate the suspected source. To my knowledge, this was not done before my court date. Management Experience: I had difficulty getting clear communication from management during this time. When I raised serious concerns, the responses I received were often vague. After notifying them that I intended to withhold rent in escrow until the issue was resolved, I was issued a lease termination notice. This prompted me to file a legal case to protect my rights as a tenant. Court Outcome and Current Status: In court, the property manager (Jessica Landis at the time) arrived late and did not dispute the core of my claims. She did not cross-examine me, and Featherton lost both cases -- their eviction attempt and my countersuit. Judge Miller awarded me damages. They have since filed appeals in both cases. Why This Matters: This review is based entirely on my personal experience, and I've spoken with current tenants who report experiencing similar water and mold-related issues. I believe this points to a potential pattern of unresolved environmental problems. I am sharing this to help others make informed decisions. I've been without a dish author for a month right through the holiday season went with a microwave without a microwave for a month and a half and now I have a and they wanna charge me 25 bucks it out that is get to charge them for not having a microwave not having a dishwasher . This is advertised as a "luxury" apartment complex, but the experience of living there is not a luxury. This is owned by a large corporate entity that will ignore you once they've locked you into your lease. Example #1: When we moved in , the dishwasher did not work. It took 3 months and repeated requests to get it repaired. The repair worked for 2 days. It took another three months to get it replaced. Example #2: There was a bird's nest right outside my door on an emergency light box. There were bird droppings and mud outside my door every day. They refused to address this. Example #3: Snow is never removed in a timely fashion. There is constant ice on sidewalks in the winter. This place is a horrible spot to live, especially upon trying to move out they nickel and dime you on literally everything possible to not have to pay back the security deposit. Spend days and even basically a month cleaning our apartment upon moving out to have to pay money back in. Will never recommend this place to anyone! My stay at Featherton for 10 months was satisfactory and I would give it at least a 4-star rating if what transpired after I had left did not happen. First, not being aware that you will be under a 13-month lease if you move in after the 1st of any month. I moved in on June 2 of 2022, even though I wanted to move in prior to that date but was told the apartment was not ready. OK, I should have read their policy more fully before signing on the dotted line, but hey, nobody volunteered to give me a heads-up either. Leaving that aside, I did not expect to be harassed after I moved out. First I notified the manager that I had to break the lease and I gave her a 2-month notice. I paid for two additional months, which I did promptly. So far so good. Then I was told that I needed to have the carpet professionally cleaned, which I did, and it was scheduled 2 days after I left. The receipt was sent to their office after completion. I was also told that I would receive my security deposit back by the assistant manager if the apartment was clean. Again, I did everything that they suggested. I even used granite cleaner on the kitchen counter. I also cleaned the frig,, and microwave. I never used the stove or dishwasher. The condition of the apt was the same as when I first entered.I also cleaned the bathroom toilet and shower. After moving to my new residence I called the manager about the security deposit and was surprised to find out that I was not entitled to the security because of moving out early. I was upset, but hey, who wants the hassle of dealing with a large company? Weeks passed before I received emails from their company about owing them more money because according to them, the apt was not cleaned sufficiently. They sent me pictures of dust on the return vent and what looks like a magnified shot of some hair on the carpet and a few specs of dirt on the windowsill. (I never opened the blinds the entire time I live there). Now they were asking for hundreds of dollars and for what I don't have the slightest clue. I also took pictures before leaving and both the carpet cleaner and the people that helped me move witnessed the perfect condition of the apartment. Now I am being harassed by a collection agency. What is the next step, I am not sure. I have never been involved with collection agencies. I am 77 years old and in all that time I never had to experience dealing with a collection agency. Rented here for one year, could hear my upstairs neighbors through the floor, and could hear my next door neighbors through the walls (just normal conversations). Also had a mold/mildew problem that they provided temporary fixes for. The carpet had this weird crunch to it (which I should have complained about when I moved in but I didn't), and I had to get a patch fixed at one point because my cats clawed it - totally my responsibility. When the carpet repair guy was in, he said the entire carpet was coming apart from the backing and it was going to need to be replaced when I moved out. He spoke to the leasing office and explained the situation, and they said they'd make a note so that I wouldn't get charged. I did end up getting charged for the apartment to get re-carpeted, and I was also charged for things I had already cleaned. The rent is not worth it, the dumpsters were constantly overflowing because the residents were lazy and would not walk 20 feet to the next dumpster. There was a constant problem with people not cleaning up after their dogs. Then rent was set to go up about $100 for lease renewal, which is when I decided to move out. Many of the residents took issue with this, but management seemed unwilling to budge on the price. The day I turned in my keys I heard all of the different promotions they were doing to retain residents and get new residents, which I was never informed of (and wouldn't have changed my decision any way) . I also had to give the office my forwarding address a couple times and explain things to the same lady in the leasing office a couple times - which was really frustrating. I would advise people to look elsewhere before they decide to rent here. read more

A rental nightmare and I only applied to the place. I applied to Featherton Crossing apartments on March 28th 2018 with Brandy Haney. It took a day or two to hear a result once they received the $40 application fee. Brandy called me at 5:52pm on Tuesday April 3rd to tell me I had been approved. I had inquired about all of the negative reviews of the company (Metropolitan Management Group) as well as the apartment complex (Feathertop Crossing) a few days prior to being approved with the Property Manager Angela Ashby as well as Arielle Boyer the Marketing Director who leaves her email aboyer@mmgapts on the reviews. I talked to Angela and she had stated that all of the negative reviews came from prior management and she could "assure" me that my stay would be great at this place. Following that conversation Arielle Boyer emailed me and stated that she had talked to Angela and that there is nothing further she could offer me and if I had any further questions to contact Angela. I emailed her back and told her I still had further questions (I wanted her take on all of the reviews) and told her to give me a call. I never heard back from her. Why bother putting your email on a negative review if you are going to do nothing about it? I inquired a second time about the reviews of the company the same day I got approved and the following day I received an email from Angela Ashby at 12:17pm stating she had received word from the leasing department that there was a summary charge on my background and my application was now denied. I asked her why it was approved the previous day and then today it is denied and she had no explanation whatsoever but directed me to their corporate office. I talked to Jamie twice at their office to reach out to the leasing department to find out why it was approved and then denied and have not heard back. When I called her again she said she would forward it to the VP of the company. I reached out again on Tuesday April 10th and she told me my application was denied due to the summary charge and that no one was available to talk to higher then her. In addition no one was able to give me a call back and when asked why she stated "she didn't know". There is no reason whatsoever why I should have been denied as my current FICO credit score is 828 according to my Discover statement and I have had excellent reviews from the past apartment complexes I have lived in. If you look into the company (Metropolitan Management Group) you will notice they have 18 total complaints and an "F" rating. Further research will result in a lawsuit from the state of Delaware where they have apartment complexes as well. Case # (N17C-03-166 AML) Google it! In addition the company is even rated poorly on Glass door for the way they treat their employees. No wonder their employees treat the tenants the way they do! These apartments are nice but seeing as they are managed so poorly I would suggest thinking twice about staying at Featherton Crossing or any other MMG complex. Do the research you will not regret it I promise you! If you do choose to live here I would not inquire about their negative reviews as that is grounds for denial of your application. I did file with the PA Attorney General's office and got my $40 app fee back! Smart move on their part cause I was all set for a Civil discrimination lawsuit. read more

I lived there for 3 years and the entire time you can hear the neighbors upstairs and outside your door in the breezeway talking and walking around it was creepy. Dogs barking constantly. The worst part was upon moving out although I paid for the carpets to be cleaned and spent hours cleaning it myself spotless they deducted 800.00++ for bogus painting, cleaning, and other miscellaneous charges. This is a total scam, I have pictures to prove it and hired a lawyer to file a small claims court against them. Their management for move out is absolutely criminal in my opinion. We showed up to look for apartments after travelling across the country from San Diego to PA. We had spoken with them after looking at the place and asked if there's any extra charge for us coming from California. The lady who took our application, Michelle, was clueless to every question we threw at her, saying "I don't know".. she's the property manager she should know. She said only first month rent and security deposit once we get approved and the application we signed mentioned it again. No extra fees of any kind. They never responded so after 2 days we contacted them. They said we got approved but that we have to pay double security deposit because cooperate didn't think we could afford the place off of our savings despite asking if that was an issue before applying until we get our jobs settled they also mentioned that cause we just moved across the country and didn't trust that we could pay the amount each month despite having references from our previous rental histories and paying double than this place. We kept telling them that despite their issues with us the application we applied for and got approved on never mentioned a double deposit just because we came from a different state. They told us that they've done this before with previous applicants who came from Florida living off their savings were charged double rent, but we've asked before applying if they did such things other than what Michelle said "i don't know" I highly don't recommend this place. We should have believed the other reviews, shame on us I suppose. They're not helpful, extremely rude, liars, and the last place you should ever consider when looking for a new place to call home. read more

WHERE TO START WHERE TO START..... 1. We were promised a copy of the signed contract which has never been received. 2. When we moved in.. nothing was cleaned or properly fixed. After sending in a list of about 30 items that needed to be fixed we had to wait 1 full month until anything was addressed. There are about 5 items on that list that still haven't been handled. 3. In order to make up for the multiple issues that kept recurring in our apartment they waived our pet deposit but now we are being questions because they cant keep record of anything that is done. 4. They charge your building water and sewer monthly.. How they determine that, nobody knows... seeing that water and sewer charges are every 3 months. If someone moves out guess what!? Your bill goes up.. Why? Your building splits the bill. One month you will get a bill for $60 the next month $40 and the next month $50? If it is in the same three months wouldn't it be the same for those 3 months? You are also charged an admin fee each month along with your bill. Splitting the bill between the apartments that are rented doesn't actually allow you to pay for what was actually used by you. If your neighbor likes long hot showers... guess what.. you're paying for that. 5. When it snows forget about going anywhere. They hired a landscaper with NO snow removal experience to clear the snow and salt the walkways which wasn't even done this year seeing that the residents spent 2 days doing it. Legally sidewalks and roads are to be cleared within 24 hours of the last snowfall. 6. You have to pay for a professional to clean your carpets before you move out and they still take a $100 admin fee out of your security deposit when you move out even if there are no damages. 7. If an apartment is vacant there is no electric, or gas for that apartment which leads to pipes busting and ruining property underneath (which I witnessed about a month ago). 8. Walls are paper thin. There is no firewall between apartments either. Scary to think about? Yep. 9. They have a major trash issue. This is part of their pinching pennies mentality. We had one normal sized dumpster and trash was piling up like crazy. Keep in mind, there are 6 building with 14 apartments in each. Their solution? Get 2 small dumpsters for the front buildings and one small dumpster for all of the other buildings. Trash issue solved? NO WAY. 10. The complex is only 3 years old and the pool is AWFUL. They don't clean it properly so green water sits in it throughout the winter and when it comes time to use it for the summer.. have fun with that. 11. They had no maintenance team for 3 months. The prior property manager even told me that there were over 30 maintenance tickets that had been sitting for over 1 month. 12. The current property manager has her friends deliver letters to the doors. People who I can only assume, haven't had a background check and haven't been approved to work for them. One can only imagine what would happen if one of those "friends" have or had a criminal background including theft or who knows what else. 13. Make sure you purchase renters insurance for your personal belongings. From pipes bursting to leaky roofs and electrical issues, youll be glad you did. Do I need to mention sprinklers? Do you know what happens when a pipe bursts and you have sprinklers? Yes... stinky black bacteria water destroys everything in your apartment. I think I have made enough points to inform you of the scumbags you will be dealing with. This company will do anything to get you to move in so they can make money off of you but once you're a resident you will understand why everyone is trying to detour you from here. Metropolitan Management Group only cares about the money in their pocket. They don't care about their residents and they don't care about their employees. I have 5 years of experience as a Property Manager and 3 years of contract negotiating. Metropolitan Management Group will be shut down in a few years. The Attorney General has received numerous complaints from residents of Featherton Crossing alone. As a residential company you cannot be shady. Laziness, lies and cutting corners only dooms you. If you are reading this because you are thinking about moving here. Do yourself a huge favor and look elsewhere. You have been warned. Never judge a book by it's cover. The pictures make this place seem great but once you open the book you will realize that this company is nothing but lazy liars with very POOR customer service. read more

Stay away!! The property managers are incompetent, rude, and will say anything to squeeze the money out of you. Michelle showed my fiancé and I the complex on 12-2-2019. She didn't seem to know much of anything but we liked the complex so we decided to apply and payed $105 in application fees. Two days later on 12-4-2018, we hadn't heard anything back so I called and spoke with Stephanie. She informed me they were doubling my security deposit because I didn't have work verification (I just moved from out of state and have a savings account, all of which was explained to Michelle). Nowhere in the application paperwork does it mention the deposit being more than one months rent, and I even asked Michelle about this directly. I provided work verification as I'm already scheduled to start my new job and was then given the run around all day on 12-5-2019 by Stephanie who kept blaming her corporate office. She finally calls back and when I ask for a refund of the application fee because they never mentioned a higher deposit her response was: "you're just some dude with no job and tons of debt" followed by her laughing at me. I have no debt, am employed, and find it more than insulting that some minimum wage girl at an apartment speak to me that way as my fiancé and I both have stable, high paying careers. I informed her I will be filing with the BBB, Attorney General, and the court, if need be to which she replied, she "doesn't care" and laughed again. So I hung up and have already filed with the BBB. Attorney General is next. I guess the reviews about this place are right. No wonder they had so many available units. Pathetic excuse for a complex and management company. read more

The places are cute and the prices are fair, but the extremely rude property manager, Stephanie Sheaffer and her scummy boyfriend who does the landscaping for the complex are nothing but unprofessional and make you feel completely uncomfortable the entire time. We rented one of these apartments for about a year and for the most part we didn't have any problems. The snow removal was terrible and people had to shovel themselves out. The big problem came when we moved out. I deep cleaned our apartment (I have an OCD problem when it comes to cleaning), I mean I moved the refrigerator and stove and scrubbed every inch by hand and they still charged me a cleaning fee when I moved out. When we first moved in we had to fill out a paper of everything that we found wrong and then they tried to charge us for those issues when we moved out. We had a professional they recommended to come out to clean the carpets and I hand delivered the receipt to the office and they tried to charge for carpet cleaning when I moved. Thank goodness I made them sign that I gave them the receipt. They also charged us for cleaning up ashes on the building siding, but neither my husband or I smoke. So, if you do want to move here, which I do not recommend, you will not get your deposit back and they will charge you more. read more

The managment from property manager to the owners have no idea how to take care of there residents. They complain trash is every where but guess what when you only have one dumpster for that is only picked up a few days a week what do you expect. They stock no parts for doing repairs and people go with out hot water and other issues. When the toilet seat broke in my apt they put a used one in. When it comes to snow removal the company they hired shows up well after the storm has passed and they will not buy a decent snow blower for the maintenance dept. So the poor guy has to shovel this place by hand. They advertise this place as luxury apartments and its far from the truth you do not even get a garbage disposal. They do not keep any decent records and will charge you for anything when you move out even if it was broken before you moved in. So beware of dealing with this company they lie about everything. We have also been through 8 managers in a year so that also should warn you about moving here. read more
