The front of the Burger Bar was illuminated in big red bold letters and the giant wedge fries were proudly positioned in the window for customers to salivate over. We pondered the wall menu for a bit then ordered the Classic Burger with fries and a soft drink combo. The chef tossed a big beef patty onto the flat grill and waited at a wooden table out front impatiantly about fifteen minutes. OMG, it was big, juicy and spiced perfectly with bacon and caramelized onions (see pic). The oversized seasoned fries went well with the burger. I'm hoping that every burger joint in Amsterdam will be as tasty as this great find today.

THere is a water closet (toilet downstairs in the basement) also known as -1 floor here in The Netherlands. The food is McDonalds. The same as everywhere else. Of course, it's in a fabulous part of town in Amsterdam. Not a touristy area, but tourists have been spotted here in the past. ;). I amongst them!

After all, no trip to Amsterdam is complete without at least getting fries from somewhere! Got a medium with truffle mayo. And yes, their social media team confirmed there is actual truffle in that mayo! I don't think the fries are quite as crispy as their competitor, but I definitely enjoyed them nonetheless. Staff here was really friendly. Even though I came here super late and near closing hours, the guy working the counter was super nice and doused my fries with plenty of truffle mayo. Can't go wrong with Vlaamse Frites whatsoever! Next time I'm probably going to have get both to have a pure side-by-side comparison.

The sauces were DELICIOUS but I noticed that the bottom fries in the cone are bare. The Belgians have some fry magic that even though they pour sauce over the top, somehow, every last fry even on the bottom is covered with the stuff. That technology has not crossed the border it would seem. The fries themselves (without the sauce) aren't anything to lose your shit over but I don't know how comparable that is to the area's fries. Clutch if you are in a pinch, solid under all other circumstances.
