I can't thank April enough for all of her help and guidance! Our family's life turned upside down…read morewhen we learned that our "independent" loved one had dementia and could no longer care for themselves. After a couple of years navigating the government and state care assistance, hitting several dead ends, we were introduced to April and her company. April helped to turn our world around within a couple of months and our loved one is now safely living with round the clock care, our family is at peace! My Sincerest Gratitude to April Sage! Please reach out to April and her company if you find yourself in a situation with your loved one and need a direction to go or help to find the right care facility.

The time was approaching when we were going to have to start looking for an adult living facility…read morewith the option of memory care for my mother in law. Two of her siblings had Alzheimer's before they passed, and we knew we needed to have a plan. We had no idea where to start. I remembered a friend who had recently gone through this with her mother. She quickly recommended I reach out to April. After spending an hour on a Saturday afternoon on the phone answering questions, April put together a plan. It was the middle of covid, but within a week she was able to find a local place that we could tour so that we could get an idea of what Adult and Assisted Living looked like. From there, she presented housing options that met our needs and finances. April was incredibly thorough, and went at our pace. The biggest thing I learned from the experience is that finding the right place is just the beginning. It is definitely a process, and what comes next is where April truly shines. She will literally hold your hand as you present this move idea to your loved one who may very well meet it with resistance. She also walks you through the steps of sorting and purging and all the things that come with moving an elderly parent. Where family members may get frustrated and impatient, April is sympathetic and understanding and right there to help. She is a wealth of knowledge and resources. In a nutshell, a move like this is not only stressful on the elderly parent, but the whole family who is involved. It is a huge decision with a lot of red tape. A third party like April helps navigate the process, and prevent unnecessary stress, misunderstandings and disagreements that can occur when families need to make these decisions together. She's an angel.

However, I don't think the staff knows or cares about what happens once people leave their facility. I work in a nearby business and oftentimes, there is debris scattered along the pathway from the MSC to the DayCenter. People take clothing, food, toys and other items and then just dump it on the pathway or into the vegetation. It is unsightly, first of all, and a waste secondly. I have clients who come into my office and can see this debris and it doesn't lend itself to an agency that you would think would want to be highly esteemed. For a couple of weeks, I saw someone cleaning up the area which was great. A fence was recently installed and now folks just simply throw things under the fence. Today there is a suitcase by the fence, clearly kicked underneath the fence. When I called the MSC to let them know, they just said that they take donations but they don't pick things up. It feels like the staff should either talk to the "consumers" about taking only what you need or send someone to walk through our little neighborhood to collect the things that were dumped. Our clients don't litter on their property. I was taught to not litter. It's ridiculous that my employers have to go out there and pick up after these people. Who does this? Who takes things that were freely given and then dumps it on the pathway. I don't understand. I appreciate that the resource is available. I just wish the staff would have more accountability in picking up after their people.
