Upon walking in.. it was chaotic. The class was extremely full and they didn't have enough space in the first room to accommodate everyone. HOWEVER: The workout itself was amazing, Linda was amazing. A few ladies next to me were amazing, helping me out since I'm new. I am definitely coming back but more prepared. You need to bring a yoga mat, a yoga towel that has grips on the bottom (I didn't know this before arrival) , a booty band and a large water bottle. They provide everything else. Loved it! read more

So glad there's a good hot yoga place so close to home with a great variety of classes and schedule so I can fit them around my busy life. The instructors are great. Alec and Ericka are so kind and supportive and Suny, Kristine, and Linda will work your butt off. I especially like Linda's Pilates and Sculpt classes because they're so challenging. As a corporate girlie with back problems and a strained neck I LOVE this class. This is a review for Yin yoga with Sabrina and Rebecca. I can't recommend this class enough. I come to this part of town to visit my parents often and sometimes need a break from dealing with them. I'm not looking for a workout, to tone, build Muscle etc. I come to unwind and help my Mobility. I've now taken this class about 5 times and have brought my mom, Friend, and cousin. Because poses are so great for my problem areas. It's slow but effective. I leave feeling way more fluid and energized rather than drained. I wish yoga studios in LA would stop with the fitness yoga classes and offer more classes like yin yoga. I use ClassPass to sign up for the class since I'm from out of town and it's so worth the points! To the owners of this spot, good job read more

Make sure you bring a mat, towel and a big water bottle. I knew this was a hot yoga place but I wasn't expecting the pilates and barre classes to be in a heated up room too. This was my fault for not doing enough research. I tried the pilates class - the latter half was a yoga class. The pilates part was repetitive movements and not super fun for me and I don't think the yoga part was very beginner friendly. The music is not so upbeat either. The instructor was kind but the class just wasn't my type. To be frank, personally not liking the heat, I would not have signed up for groupon deal had I known all the classes were hot ones. Also, the five class deal - you have to use it all within a month. I wished I had just bought the single class. read more

I bought 5 classes through Groupon and ended up getting a refund from Groupon after 2 classes. I am the kind of person who reviews a website for instructions and yelp reviews before trying something. Their website is confusing (under the "new to elev8?" site includes sentences like "Please do not leave the room. Instead, take a moment to tie on your mat." (Tie what on my mat? Lie on my mat?) or "We are here to YOUR GROWTH!?" (I don't even know what that means.) I also will admit, I don't particularly love yoga, but I read their site and was interested in the other types of classes - pilates, barre, and aerial. After I bought the Groupon, it was hard to figure out how to get signed up. No one answers when you call, they encourage you to text, but sometimes it took days before I received a text response. The 1st class I went to was a hot pilates class. I had never done pilates on a mat before (I have done many reformer classes) but at the beginning of the class, the teacher said we were going to do 45 minutes of pilates and leave a little time for a yoga flow. I liked the pilates part fine. What surprised me was that, during the 15 min. yoga flow, the teacher just called out poses without description or verbal cues. This may be fine in a class where you're looking directly at the teacher but when you're bent over in a pose, how are you supposed to follow along? I guess they assume you know the names of all poses and how to transition into them, but if that's true, you could just work off a list of poses, why come to a class? The teacher was demonstrating, so you could get out of your pose to look at her, and she never walked around to offer feedback. Why not just turn on the heat in your house and watch a youtube video then? And, don't ask for help, the website reads, "NO talking once class has begun. The teachers are always available in the lobby before and after class for questions or ooncems." So, there's that, I guess I'll save my "ooncems" for after class. I thought about leaving since I had gotten the pilates part I wanted but the website reads, "Stay in the room for your entire class." Maybe I'm too much of a rule follower. Another thing that turned me off was the teacher talked about "losing 10 pounds" in the class. First, water weight. Second, I'm going for strong, not skinny. I searched for an aerial class but it was not offered between Nov 15 - Dec 31. The 2nd class I went to was weightlifting. The description read, "This is NOT a yoga class, but is accessible to all fitness levels." When I checked in, I told the teacher that it was my first weightlifting class and asked if there was anything I needed to know. The teacher said, "Please tell me you've lifted weights before?" I said yes, and she said, "Oh good, because some people come to class and they've never lifted weights and I'm like WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING HERE?" What? You can offer an advanced class, but just include that in the description. She then went on to say don't lie on the floor if you get tired because someone could drop a weight on you or their spittle could go in your mouth. (What a weird thing to say, but ok), and said, if you lay down, she will "YELL at you to leave and you may not re-enter!" She also said to drink a lot of water. Even if you have lifted before in a gym, I don't think you would assume you go in barefoot, but I followed every other student's lead. The teacher also never said anything about grabbing dumbbells to bring in with you but I saw everyone else doing it, so I followed the crowd. Throughout the class, she would shout out "light" or "heavy" so it was good I grabbed 2 sets, but isn't that something the teacher could've said when I asked? I was surprised at how crowded the classes were - there were 17-20 students in the hot room for each class I went to. When you are that close to other sweaty people in a 107-degree room, the odor is... not pleasant. In between working with weights, we jogged in place or jumped imaginary jump ropes, so there were no breaks. Eventually, I took a sip of my water and she told me to hang in there until the water break. (So, the suggestion that you drink a lot of water should have been "only when I tell you that you can ... at which point you have a minute to chug as much as you can"? I'd rather take small sips than have it slosh in my stomach as I run in place.) Another student laid down, and she did yell at him to leave. Again, this teacher never walked around to offer corrections on form but the eye-contact-in-the-mirror situation was a little better than the pilates/yoga class. I get it, some people's workout style is the boot camp yelling style, and some people prefer constructive feedback so they can improve and not hurt themselves. I'm glad this place works for other people, but, sorry Elev8, we are not a match. read more

Wanted to like this place but a few things kept me from doing so: The check in/welcome. The woman at the counter had no idea what she was doing. Like, at all. It just was very time consuming and she wasn't really welcoming considering I was visiting from Denver and didn't bring my things. The instructor while very clearly fit, had an extremely thick accent that was hard to understand and the sequence was challenging to the point of like " why the heck are we doing every single posture know to man in the scalding heat"? I guess that the temperature wasn't quite as hot as they're used to so the instructor intentionally tried to work us over to make up for it. As a yoga teacher, I can tell you this is just like, not normal and not to mention, the room was VERY close to 100. It's either bikram and hot with no flow or warm with flow. You don't make the room 110 degrees then work them over. It's just not healthy. Additionally, while the materials they lent me were good quality Mandukas they smelt of sweat and like, over use. Kinda gross. Beautiful space and really nice studios but it seems like they may not be the safest/cleanest studio in town. read more

My wife and I went here for a Monday afternoon HIT work out. Holy smokes! Once you go, you are absolutely going back four more rounds of high intensity interval training. Just be VERY aware: you will want to push through the heat stroke, but ease into it. Drink lots of water. Take plenty of breaks. Awesome instructor who is very knowledgeable and doesn't go too crazy with the eastern mysticism side of yoga. (I cannot speak to the typical yoga classes and their degree of meditation to the 30 million gods of Hinduism) Fantastic music too. Hit/tip: bring a yoga mat with a towel to cover it. They have thin towels you can put on yoga mats, available for cheap on Amazon. You'll be dripping with sweat. read more

I recently started going to Elev8 back in October of 2018, they offer a wide range of classes during convenient time slots and have found that the instructors as well as the members to be warm, positive and encouraging. The studio is always clean and very well maintained. This studio is definitely a gem in this city! I started off with the TRX, barre, pilates and hatha classes which I found them all to be very high quality workouts, I felt challenged and always enjoy each one. I work at night, so I tend to join the daytime sessions. I've taken classes with Linda, Suny, Jana and Julie. All of them have been amazing, helpful and kind. I feel like they really push you, but also respect where you are at in your journey. Lately, because of my schedule I can only attend the pilates workout with Linda. I absolutely love, love this class and have progressed more than I thought I would or could. I am completely new to pilates, but Linda has always been kind and willing to show me how to use the correct form. What I really appreciate from her is how she held high expectations from me with care and compassion. This was my first experience with pilates, but she always said she knew I could do it. It is definitely challenging at first, you think you will never get there, but Linda kept encouraging me to just keep coming and do what I can. After giving birth, its been really hard to get rid of that belly fat, but I progressed much faster than I expected with her help and now I can actually do the moves! I was looking to add Pilates and barre to my workout schedule. Signed up for a trial pass. First weekend, went to hot Pilates. Instructor ran into studio around 750 am and locked the door. I assume to get herself together as class started at 8. If you were standing at door when she came in you got to go in. If not you were knocking on the door like uhhh ????? Class started late and ended late and as per instructor she said "your welcome". I had a hard time following the instructor's cues and really did not enjoy class. Next day I went to barre. Instructor was late again but not as bad only 5 minutes and it was because she just taught another class and she was changing clothes. Instructor was great and enjoyed class so thought maybe it's the teacher ... this week hot Pilates ... same thing. Desk person I think, was inside. Those who were there when she walked in was lucky, others knocking on the locked door like uhhhhh????? Then there was a mix up. Instructor was running late, then miscommunication ...15 minutes in we were finally told someone is coming not sure when can stay or not, take next class or not. Huh?! Not worth my time. From what I've seen people are not greeted instead they are locked out. Should come early and be ready to teach on time. Studio is not cleaned after classes. Sweaty slippery gross. No customer service. Must be something that people like cuz there are several that go there in the 3 days I've been but for me it's not worth the 30 minute drive. I have attended most classes that Elevate 8 Hot Yoga offers with a good number of teachers. In all fairness how can a person give a review of a studio if they only went to one class? My experience regarding the studio is that the teachers care about the students and encourage feedback.There is always a friendly greeting when I enter and the fact that I pre check in to classes keeps me accountable. The owners are very warm and kind people who care about community and even offer cold towels with essential oils after class. I normally am heavily involved with weight lifting and for the last 1 1/2 months I have primarily attended a mix of classes: hatha, vinyasa, yin,sculpt, and aerial yoga as well as hot Pilates to change it up. I am no stranger to yoga and studios since I have been practicing yoga since 1981. I have definitely benefited from all classes and appreciate the wonderful value of so many classes offered from morning until night. Certainly I will be getting back to heavier lifting and more cardio in January but will still balance that with classes at this studio. This studio provided my first experience with a heated barre class. The weights go up to 10 pounds. I feel a great benefit in my whole core, balance, stability, mobility, posture and relaxation. I love the heat and make sure that I drink water and electrolytes. The teachers do encourage water breaks, modifications and good form in all classes. Really great classes with energetic instructors. I mostly do Barre and Define. The instructor for Define (Linda) will take the time to help you correct your form. I have noticed both instructors ((Linda and Jana) would push you and encourage you to finish your set and not give up, especially when they know you are about to throw in the towel. My only gripe about this place is that they do not cap class sizes, so sometimes you are stuffed in the rooms like sardines and have to be cautious of your movement or else you'll hit your neighbors, or you don't get to use your full range of motion which doesn't give you the full benefit of the exercises you are doing. read more

I love it here. I have never ever been even close to a morning person, but I actually look forward to 6:30 AM barre class twice a week. I also love the hot barre classes Wednesday and Sunday, and I've tried and the 6 AM hot vinyasa yoga which was great. Each are amazing workouts that really push you physically, as well as mentally, in a place that feels safe and comfortable. I purchased a Groupon for this studio but am having a hard time getting in touch with anyone to redeem it. I've called the studio but no one ever answers and the voicemail box is full. I've also attempted to email them a few times with no response. I finally drove to the studio to sign up in person and the door was locked even though the open sign is lit. I am writing this review on behalf of the barre classes offered. I bought a groupon for a month pass. I was aware that this facility offered hot yoga, but I was not expecting the barre classes to be hot as well. I have done barre in the past in downtown Tacoma at Barre253 and found it to be a great workout. But I absolutely cannot function in the barre classes offered at Elev8. I can see doing something more slow paced and gentle like yoga in a hot room, but barre is too intense of a workout to be doing in a heated room. I've tried going a couple times because I did buy the groupon, but each time I have felt very low energy during the class and unwell for the rest of the day. I know the studio is called Elev8 Hot Yoga, but I'd never heard of a hot barre class. Even in the description of their barre classes they do not mention that it is performed in a heated room, although all of their yoga classes are described as being performed in a heated room. I think it would be beneficial for the studio to clearly warn customers what to expect. Unfortunately, I will not be going back and feel that the groupon I bought was somewhat a waste of money. I ended up buying a groupon for Barre253 again instead, which is performed in an air conditioned room and quite enjoyable. I cannot speak on behalf of the hot yoga classes offered here. I can say that it's a very nice facility and offers of a variety of classes and times throughout the day. The barre class was just not the right fit for me and I wanted to warn others that the barre classes here are performed in a heated room. read more

Saturday Hot Yoga Class Pros: -Check in was friendly and helpful Class with Sunny (I think that was her name) -She looked fit and flow well in her poses. -The yoga room is a square shape with one side of windows and one side wall. The windows were covered with curtain (from the sun.) A humidifier is on and the room temperature is not as hot as Hot Yoga Inc., which is nice. -The class is filled but not over crowded. -There are plenty of parking at the location. Cons: -Before coming to this class, I went online to check the class schedule. By clicking it, it takes me to an application. I don't have time to download or I don't want to download another app. That was frustrating. -Sunny has a scratchy voice. With that voice over the music and her ascent, it is difficult to follow her instruction. In addition, her instruction is very lack of transition words. I am experienced in yoga. By looking at her, I know how to get to the pose. But, that is not supposed how it works. It is about the process and practice, not the destination. It is all in the details. -During the class, I pause my pose to listen to her and tried to get used to her flow/instruction style. I just cannot get the full description from her. Sometimes, her flow does not connect or make sense. 70% in the class. I stopped following her because I am afraid of getting hurt in the transition. I finished the class and did not look back. Note: 15-20 minutes before the class end. A lady was limping out of the class. She looked like in pain. I don't know what happened but I am glad I made a sounded decision to stop following her "flow." read more

I came here because my chiropractor said my flexibility is horrible (lol). So I decided to do hot yoga to help loosen up my back and open up my hips. I never did regular yoga before so this was a shock. It was the most eye opening experience. I enjoy it very much. I love the atmosphere and the instructors. I think I almost died like 5 times. It was hard. You're basically stretching in a sauna and challenging yourself physically and mentally to hold different poses. It's all about mind and body connection. It was quite intimidating seeing these people (regulars) keeping up with the instructor and that are able to bend and move so eloquently with grace, while I am in the back corner with no balance and looking around to see what the next pose or stretch is since I don't know the names. I almost wanted to walk out of the studio after 30 minutes because I was so frustrated with myself but I kept to it for another 30 minutes, out of breath and out of shape, I needed a break. The instructor seen me struggling and said if I needed a break to go into child pose. I asked what is child pose and she pointed at another student and I was like, oh ok. Sunny talked to me afterwards and encouraged me to keep coming and it will get easier. I did the two week trial and I did it every other day while Sunny was the instructor. At the end of your session, they pass out a nice frozen towel with a scent of lavender for your pleasure. It was a nice touch. I enjoyed it very much. I'll be signing up for 6 months soon. read more

110 degrees, NOT the standard 105. Been here several times, each time it's at least 110 at the START (meaning 1-4 degrees higher mid class). Some instructors were good with directions and talking and turning on fans to keep it at 110, some talk so fast it's like an auction and didn't bother with the fan, none were very helpful to beginners or new faces in class. Students were welcoming and inclusive, though, and it was nice to see all body types. **Considering human core temp data for safety has mostly been done at 105 degrees, and that even shows an increase of core temps during an hour to 101.5 and up to 104 or more, I don't think 110 is a responsible level. Going elsewhere. read more
