I came here this morning to do a couple of back office things. I needed to scan some documents, print out some contracts, and then make a couple of copies. The self serve copy machine can do all of those things, as long as it's functioning correctly and there is sufficient paper inside. That's where my issue began. Apparently I am not techical enough to be able to program a copier because I did try for a good five minutes. I attempted to select some options on the screen, and then proceeded to open two of the paper drawers on the outside to see if I could rectify the problem. I had no luck at all. The single person who was working behind the counter seemed overwhelmed, and plus there were already two people ahead of me waiting in line for her help. I felt bad that this was the only staff person available. I waited a good fifteen minutes for the employee to be free. She was kind enough to come to the machine. It turns out that the copier had legal sized paper but not the regular 8 1/2" X 11". It took heress than a minute to add the paper, press a couple of buttons and yes I was then able to begin my copies and scans! read more

Beware working with the Manager, Julie, for your printing needs. They are happy to alter your designs and charge you $9.00 instead of $.90 per basic print on 8 1/2" x 11" without warning. Looking for a local printer is key to growing your business but not if they choose to ignore common sense or make the effort to get clarification before they do the work. Poor customer service. You have a 50% or less of getting good help here at this location. I went in last week to have laminating done. The staff were nice, friendly, placed my order. I chose to leave & return 30 minutes later for pick up all was great. Today I arrived just after 5 pm to send a Fed-Ex package. I was the only customer in the store. 2 staff were there. I went to the window for packages. No one there. So I moved to print section. I explained. She said you're in the right place. I moved over. She said nothing. No one offered. I waited. Then I moved back to staff. Is anyone going to help me. Nothing. I walked out. Zero stars. It's hit or miss here. So I tried to find another Fed Ex and for all kinds of reasons I waited until today, Saturday, 5/29 to return to this store. Both people who helped me & the Fed EX staff member who came to pick up the packages were really great. So far, in the last few weeks 4/5 people have been nice & professional. I still can't give this site a 4 or 5 stars in good conscience. One bad apple does have an influence. I think all people who work in customer service should be kind & professional. I don't understand the other reviews because I found all the employees to be extremely diligent in greeting customers as they walked in her door. The treatment that I received by an employee named "Urisa" will keep me from going into this store ever again and will encourage me to share the un-professionalism that is displayed by this site's employees with anyone who will listen. I went into the store last night to have a file scanned and placed onto a flash drive. While I frequently use FedEx for copying and shipping, I have never needed scanning services before. As such, I was shocked to discover that the scanning of my document was going to cost approximately $30. Unfortunately, I was not in a position last night to pay the $30 and so I asked the gentleman working if he would delete the document from my flash drive so that I could leave and try to come up with another way of getting my scanning done. Of course, this was embarrassing and not ideal, but in that situation, I did not know what my other options were, and I had not anticipated that scanning a 13 page document would be so much. After I asked "Urisa" to delete the file from my flash drive he informed me that I would "just have to wait" until he had helped all of the other new customers who had come into the store after me. This was not only unnecessary, but extremely unprofessional. Moreover, it was at this point that I realized that he had actually passed over helping a young girl who was waiting for help when I came into store. When I first entered I thought that he had already begun helping her with something more complicated than my request for scans, but only after Urisa had attempted to embarrass and punish me, did he attempt to help the child that had been patiently waiting, and who had come in before me. I was sorry to have cut line in front of her, but was unaware of the situation when I entered the store. Finally, after I explained that I was not going to be waiting for him to help the three or four other customers who were in line behind me, in order for him to erase my flash drive, he came over to me and started asking me "how much money do you have?" I was confused and asked what he meant and he raised his voice and said "I said, how much money do you have!?" At this point I told him I only had $8.00 and he gave me my flash drive and told me he was keeping the $8 because of all of the "time and effort" that he had put into pressing a scan button on the copier and placing the file on a flash drive that I had provided. This experience was terrible. The employee was rude, not only to me, but to the child in front of me, and he extorted money from me after I made a reasonable request of him. In the future I will drive further and wait in line longer to be served by people who are respectful and have minimal customer service skills. Two things that Mr. Urisa does not have. read more

I come here only because it's sort of a last resort in the neighborhood. I work from 9-5 on the weekdays so I don't want to bring my large packages with me to work and ship it during regular USPS hours. The post office in Friendship Heights isn't open on Saturdays and later in the night so I'm fresh out of luck unless it's the Fedex office down the street. I'm heavily skeptical of this place. Half the time i think they typed the shipping zip code wrong and the other type I feel like they forget the box somewhere near the front desk. I just don't get the same mature/professional shipping vibe from a USPS or a local shipping shop. As I side, make sure to check your shipping address on the label. Even though I haven't got anything shipped to the wrong state, that's because I'm hella OCD and check the label every time home boy put my package on the scale. 2 stars mean I'e experienced better and that's truly the story here. read more

Two terrible experiences here in the past month. Both started with my asking FedEx to deliver my package there for pickup. The first time I was told "it isn't here." After leaving and confirming with my wife, I came back in and the clerk actually looked for it. Of course it was there. Time two was today and I am still shaken up. The encounter started similarly (surly clerk with a "why are you bothering me" demeanor), but this time the clerk refused to look up the package using the slip I proffered. He demanded my drivers license. When he could not find the package, which was in my wife's name, he blamed me ("you should have told me!"). Looking under my wife's name he found it, of course, but now refused to return my driver's license. At this point I was sufficiently irritated that I was ready to leave and allow the package to be returned to the sender. No good -- he would not return my driver's license. I literally dialed 9-1-1 while standing there, spoke to the operator on the speaker phone asking the police to be dispatched, before he returned my identification. read more

Chris: "Swipe" Me: "Oh, but it's a chip card" Chris: "Swipe" Me: "Okay...you guys aren't taking chip cards as yet?" Chris: "Swipe!!" Me (nervous laugh): "Are you having a bad day today?" I don't think this is the worst Kinko's on the planet. However, I have had some problems. First, when I lived in the neighborhood, it was hard for me to utilize as it closed relatively early. Otherwise, my experiences were fine. Though most of my stuff was straightforward shipping. My latest experience there was pretty bad though. It was half an hour before an appointment in Tenleytown, and I needed to have a long document printed two-sided onto three-hole paper. It just didn't make sense for me to try to do it on my small printer at home then try to punch it myself. Kinko's was the natural answer. I got there just as the store opened so I didn't have to wait. However, even with an empty store the guy working there acted as if the was too busy to bother me. After time on the computer, I told him that I needed to print on three-hole paper. After he finally decided he could let me do it, he put the paper in backwards. So I ended up with a document completely backward. Well It was only a proof draft so I wasn't going to print it again and pay twice, so I just took it 'as is'. The last thing I needed was a staple large enough to go through 75 pages. Of course the big staplers were behind the counter, and the guy was somewhere in the back. I ended up shouting for him before he came out acting really grumpy. I can't give them 1 star because the job got done well enough and I wasn't late for my appointment. But I will avoid this location as much as I can. read more

Needed a passport photo so went to the closest place to my house. Stopped by on the way from work and the first time I was told they did not have paper and come back next week. I returned, asked if the supplies (paper) had come in and was told that supplies were never needed but that the battery needed charging. Returned although I did get my picture this was the disappointing visit. I am not so naive that I expect that on New Year's Eve staff would welcome me with a smile and open arms but was a bit taken aback by the outward animosity. read more

Do not go to Kinko's - service is terrible and you will end up just being so frustrated you'd give! Unless it is for straight forward photocopying - do not even try using their other services like uploading your stuff at the computer terminals at their store for them to print. I wanted some posters printed and I had my artwork saved on my thumbdrive. I had to buy a "store card" to use their computer terminal to upload. There was no one to help me log on and I ended up spending $$$$ trying to figure out how to work their computer. While I was trying to get help, the meter was running - I had to run to the counter, beg someone to come to the terminal to help. The person who eventually came could not figure it out and had to get to ask someone else. Meter running all this time - they charge by the minute. Problem one solved. Then problem two came and I had to repeat the process of asking someone to come help again. In the end, I was unable to upload my stuff but I had spent $5 for the use of the terminal. The printing that came out wrong - I was charged for as well. It was ridiculous. I ended up in Kwik Print up the road near Van Ness. The service there was great. I did not have to figure out how to use their computers. The staff at the store were very helpful and they uploaded the artwork and did all that was necessary for the printing. They printed a sample for me and adjusted the artwork and I was not charged anything extra for the prints that were not up to scratch. The charges at Kwik Print were very reasonable as well - you will definitely save more money printing here than at Kinko's without the grief! read more

I had to print a big presentation and I had to have it NOW. It was only a couple minutes before closing and I know that the guy behind the counter probably wanted to get out of there. I explained to him my situation and how I needed to make a presentation in the morning and he agreed to stay later and put it together for me. I am forever grateful because he saved my life! I wish I had better things to say about FedEx Office in Friendship Heights but to be honest their staff simply repeats the same information over and over to prove a point. Instead of thinking critically about a way to problem solve the staff person I interacted with repeated herself and offered no solution. To make it worse, she talked about me to her boss while I could hear on the phone. The nail in the coffin was the botch job I received which was only 6 of the 8 posters with one incomplete. Was there yesterday however and had another frustrating experience - guy behind the counter seemed put out that I was disturbing his Sunday afternoon, very unhelpful, didn't know how much the paper cost ("$2.00 a sheet, no $1.57 about") much less the entire order, but gave me a ball-park estimate that seemed astronomical. I would give them 0 stars if I could. I have come here several times in the past 2 years, including in the past 6 weeks. AVOID THIS PLACE! Unless you have straightforward, self-service photocopies, don't waste your time. They are the most understaffed Fedex Office I have ever seen. I think this Fed Ex Kinkos was a lot better when there were enough staff working at any given moment. The other day when I was there, one person was trying to complete existing orders, help people on the machines, answer questions about Fed Ex services, and support customer questions. One person on duty is just not enough, even though Terri was very helpful to me. And the other customers are so often impatient and rude even though they can see there is just one person on duty. ahhh customer service...we see it everyday. but some are just either fantastic or pure horrific that we want to share our experience with others. Unfortunately, my visit to fedex kinkos today, was one of the worst I have ever seen. It was like the rep was going out of his way to make me feel cheap and literally threw me out of the shp like a criminal. The store closes on sunday's at 9 pm, and at the last min I found out that I had to scan and send a document that was of an utmost importance to another country. I rushed in to the shop around 8:50pm, I thought 10 mins will be enough, the customer rep gave me a look and just continued with his work. at exactly 9pm, he came to me and said "it is done. The shop is closed" I told him that I only needed 5 more mins and if he can pls accommodate me. I was simply pleading with him and would have 100% understood if he said that he was sorry but he really had to close. The next thing that came out of his mouth was "if you dont leave the shop, I will call the police!" It took sometime for my mind to process what and why he really said that. I told him thats all he had to do was just tell me he cant help me out, and that I didn't commit any crime or even asked him twice to give me more time. He opened the door and kept on saying he will call the police because I am "trans passing a property". Call the police on his customer because I ASKED if he can give me five more mins? Really? Really Fedex? Couldnt he have said hi and mentioned that he had to close exactly at 9 when I first walked in and suggested other stores that are open 24 hours? did he really know that the store is there to give service and in charge money for the service provided, and that does not make the customer a criminal?
