The receptionist said she didn't have any openings that day, but would call me if there was a cancel. Sure enough, they called that same day. I was so impressed with the staff and the routine for recording a new patient. They were so sweet and friendly. Dr. Jeff Shields recognized the polyp and froze it, then sniped it off. My dog was calm and seemed to be in love with him and everyone else there. Dr. Shields was kind, explained everything, including his views on care of teeth, and gave me good information about the Westie breed. This is my 3rd Westie in 35 years, so we were able to agree on everything. He is incredibly well informed! The cost for the visit was very affordable, and being retired for 20 years, I am grateful for that! All in all, I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a compassionate and competent veterinarian. Kudos to them!!

We decided upon Animals R Special. Why? Let me tell you: We found this practice to be exactly what that particular puppy needed. Full service, exceptionally trained vets, who are also empathetic vets, exceptional support staff, and also a practice that is willing to titer vs push vaccines/unneeded procedures. We bring in Wanda. She was treated so well and the communication between vet and client so nice; when I got home I told my husband, "we are switching all of them to this practice" they are extraordinary. And that is exactly what I did today. Today we brought in our 12.5 yr old dog Mo. they knew he had anxiety so they prepped in advance for him. The entire exam was on the floor, with lots of love, cuddles, good boys, and peanut butter treats. He was like a completely different dog. Showed near zero anxiety. Thats the kind of vet I want. One that goes that extra step. They confirmed he was in fact super healthy, his teeth fine. The previous practice kept saying he had cancer and at one appt suggested amputating his leg due to cancer (which btw, he doesnt have, it was a lipoma. Aka fatty growth) and wanted teeth extracted (which I thought was odd as he had no problem eating kibble.). So glad we didnt listen to the former practice as Animals r Special confirmed he is completely healthy and needs none of that. Loki comes in next week. So: if you want an honest vet, that goes the extra mile for your animal and really knows what they are doing.... You have found the right practice. 100%. We have seen both vets at this practice and recommend both the doctors. You cant go wrong with any of the ppl here. Seriously, Animals R Special is the winning place to go to because at this practice the vets/staff here are more than special, they are extraordinary. And that is what we all want for our furry friends.... The best!

But have seen…read morethe other doctors on occasion and can say with certainty... you are not only in exceptional hands here skill wise, but also very caring, patient and gentle hands here as well. My first experience here was when my dog Murphy jumped up onto the tablegrabbed a pill bottle, ran, hid and ate an entire bottle of ADHD pills. We didnt have time to take him to MedVet or our vet (at the time) at Beechwald.... We instinctively swooped down, wrapped him up in a blanket and drove as fast as we could to the nearest vet.... That was vet Willowood Pet Hospital, a mile from my home. I came in panicked. My dog wasn't a patient here. I had no clue of they would see him immediately. But I knew we had such a short window and If they didn't get the amphetamines out of him he would of died. As I was explaining the situation they grabbed him. Took the leftover pills and took him to the back. The pumped his stomach administered charcoal and kept him for observation. They literally saved his life. At that moment I transferred all my pets to this practice and have trusted them whole heartedly ever since. Todays visit wasnt as dramatic. I found a tick on Loki that was buried and I couldnt get it off. Call this AM got an appt same day. Drove in, came in side, a tech came and got him three minutes later. While back there he got updated on his vaccines. Tick wasnt a tick, was a mole. Glad I didnt try to "dig it out" and left it to them to evaluate. The whole trip in was $36. I mean. Its great there. They love on your dogs. Give them treats and keep them healthy. Great place. Highly recommend.

Dr. Kooner is incredibly knowledgeable, pleasant, realistic in his practices, and completely transparent when it comes to making good decisions for your pet's care. I trust him implicitly. I have sent so many friends to his practices (one on Livingston, the other north of town in Worthington) and they all have awesome things to say. I do always give people the heads up for the Livingston practice: this isn't in the best of neighborhoods and the building (from the outside) looks a little scary. The windows are covered by bars and the waiting room is sparsely furnished....but in my 4 years of going there, I've never had to wait so that's no biggie to me. I really can't recommend this practice enough!

But since they moved outside the store I brought him back to this location even though it is a little farther away since I moved.
