After the very first visit, I was astonished and how well my 6-month-old Golden Retriever responded. I went from being frustrated and, honestly, disappointed in myself, to one of hope and excitement for our future. It is some of the best money I've spent. It was an investment that has give me a return of more than I could have ever dreamed of. I know that I have Doug's support throughout Zahra's lifetime and that, to me, is priceless. In my opinion, you will find none better than Doug with Bark Busters. Zahra and I are forever grateful we found him through the recommendation of my nephew, who used Doug for help with his Giant Schnauzer. You will not be disappointed, I can promise you that!

WORTH EVERY PENNY AND ASTONISHINGLY FAST!…read more Doug Rountree with Bark Busters of Louisville is fantastic! In the first hour, he completely changed the way we interact with our dog. Before we began the training, our puppy was lovable but demanding and thought she was in charge of our whole family. Practically 90% of her behavior problems (like mouthing/biting, barking, jumping on people, pulling) are virtually gone in less than a day! The rest are already much improved and I'm sure those will continue to get better as we reinforce our expectations with her. Our home is a much more peaceful, enjoyable place and our pup definitely seems happier and less stressed now that we have set clear, consistent rules in a language that she can understand. I love that it's done without treats or physical correction but instead uses how dogs naturally communicate to change behavior. Thank you Doug!

Echoing a review my wife already left…read more.. I've owned or been around dogs most of my life, and I thought I was pretty good with handling basic training and socialization. But then we got Molly, a pit bull/german shepherd/shar pei mix who was more strongheaded and difficult than any dog I've ever been around. While she is exceptionally smart and a sweetheart most of the time, Molly didn't always respond to correction and most traditional training methods weren't working on her. She had increased dog aggression, and would have a crazy switch flipped the minute any she was exposed to any stimulus outside the norm. We interviewed a few trainers at our house and Lynn was the one we felt most comfortable with. She proved to be the correct choice, as she worked extensively with Molly at both our home and her own, teaching us new techniques to help manage and modify Molly's behavior along the way. That was three years ago that we met Lynn and Molly's behavior is light years better than it used to be. Molly still goes to see Lynn when we go on short trips out of town, and each time she returns to us a little bit better behaved than when she was dropped off. Molly will always be a little hyper and crazy, but thanks to Lynn she has positive outlets for her high energy level and high motor brain, and even her worst behaviors are managed. I'd recommend Lynn to anyone who is struggling with a problem dog.

We were at our wits end and about to surrender our pup back to the shelter we rescued him from. I'm telling you that 38 minutes saved our sanity and maybe even our pups life. We now have him enrolled in doggy day school and have a private lesson under our belt with another scheduled. We are so grateful for Duffy's and for the trainer Jana that we met yesterday. It means a lot to us that our dog is safe and treated well while also being dog the absolute fundamentals to being domesticated while simultaneously training US how to speak our dogs language. I'm mind blown by all of the patience and information provided by staff here and we have sincerely looked forward to each day he gets to attend "school". Our voices will be lower in our home when dealing with our doggy and our patience extended now that we see where we were wrong in trying to correct him with our people ways. Thank you Duffys!!! Also, big shout out to Jana for being so kind to My children who came in ready to play and explore instead of listen and learn lol. She's amazing with kiddos and actually had some books and ideas on hand for keeping them entertained. I really appreciate that!

I thought she needed immediate attention because I thought she had a UTI, if I had known she didn't need immediate attention, I would of crated her and took her to the vet the next day, I also didn't have the funds at the moment, but everyone has to work to get those funds! They came and got the Yorkie and now are telling me I have to apply to get her back! The whole time I talked to the lady at the shelter, she assured me I would get her back if she wasn't chipped or claimed. First come first served. I am the first one to want that baby girl! I guess someone has a family member who wants her! Do not trust these people. If You find an abandoned animal, you take it to get scanned for a chip and post on Facebook about it. Do not turn them over to these people! I will never trust them again! Shame on the A holes working down there!

We have a cat who was dumped on or near our property a few winters ago. She's an amazing, loving cat who has been trained to serve as a service companion to Sexy Beast (who is allergic to dogs). She is soft and fluffy and sweet and I can not for the life of me figure out what sort of jackass would dump a kitten in the woods during a freezing winter. We have a cat who was adopted from the Kentucky Humane Society. She was surrendered by someone who had too many cats and wanted her to have an indoor home. Thank you, whoever you are. She's a beautiful, loving fluffball and I think she may have actually rendered me human. NAFC Animal Shelter is a top notch facility. The staff are friendly and seem to genuinely care about the welfare of the animals in their charge. The facility is clean and well organized. There is an application process for adoptions. It is painless and helps to ensure that the adopted animals are not being relocated to another crappy situation. Just bring a valid drivers license or photo identification with your correct address. If you already have pets at home, bring current up to date vaccination records for them. Bring proof of home ownership or a current lease (with a contact number for the landlord) and a pet deposit receipt. You can download a copy of the application on the NAFC Animal Shelter website and fill it out before you head over to meet the critters. There are no residency restrictions for adoption and adoptions can be competed the same day. The cost of caring for unwanted animals is significant. The adoption fees help to offset those costs. Each animal is spayed or neutered and receives at least one course of vaccinations, worming, Felv/FIV or Heartworm test, and treatment for fleas. Microchipping is also included in the adoption fee. There's the cost of food and bedding and kennels and cleaning supplies and clerical supplies and laundry and on and on. So, those nominal adoption fees are a full-on bargain. The fees are: Canines: $80.00 Felines under 4 pounds: $60.00 Felines 4 pounds and over: $20.00 You can surrender an unwanted animal during regular hours and must complete some paperwork to help NAFC Animal Shelter facilitate re-homing. Not all cats play well with each other and not all dogs are great with children. These tidbits of information go a long way when looking for a home for a companion animal. You must be a Floyd County, Indiana resident to surrender an animal. NAFC Animal Shelter does euthanize animals. It is a last resort but it does happen. Animals who are too aggressive or sick to be adopted, sadly, are euthanized. Right this minute, NAFCAS is helping with the rescue of 68 Chihuahuas and Chinese Crested dogs who were rescued from a home in Paducah, Kentucky. They'll be assessed by a vet and then adopted out or sent to other rescues or shelters to help with the placements. If you happen to be in need of a little love and loyalty, please consider adopting. If you'd like to help but can't make room in your home for a pet, donations are always welcome. You can donate money directly through the website (http://www.nafcanimalshelter.org/) or drop off your donations. There is always a need for cash (obviously) but towels, blankets, and soap (dish, hand, and laundry) are appreciated. You can also volunteer to help. Just give the shelter a call to find out how.
