Evidently Independence…read morePropane and Mark Delahanty didn't get the memo that they aren't supposed to care about customer service and whether or not folks run out of propane for heating their homes in mid January. I called Mark in a panic because I'd been trying for a week to get a propane delivery from Amerigas, with whom we've done business for 3 years. We were on automatic delivery, but Amerigas wouldn't schedule a delivery , even though our tanks were down to 13% capacity (and they told us to notify them if we got below 30%). They act like a bureaucratic dinosaur that can't get out of its own way. You have to deal with a nationwide call center and can never reach the same person twice. It was frustrating and infuriating beyond belief. I finally gave up, sent a certified letter to Amerigas telling them to remove their 3 100-gallon tanks, and scheduled a visit with Mark from Independence. Mark was willing to come out the next day. He and his associate installed 3 tanks, hooked everything up, tested for leaks, lit our pilots and was on his way to the next job in the space of about one hour. Independence has remote monitoring and actually talks to their customers...no more mega call centers to deal with, no Covid-19 excuses, no bureaucracy...just good old customer service and American work ethic. ..just when I thought they were extinct! What a pleasure to deal with Mark Delahanty and Independence Propane.

two years ago, I needed 6 natural gas wall heaters. When we were ordering and paying, everyone…read morewas nice. But on installation day, the installers completely ignored the marks on the floor and our directions for each heater and where we wanted it located. Called to tell the owner, they must come back and put them in the correct locations. There was attitude and even worse attitude by the installers that came back to put the heaters in their right locations. 3 days later, bathroom heater is leaking gas. Now two years later 4 out of 6 are leaking or when they burn they must get too much gas for the flame size. so i put up with the additional holes in my floors that were left as a hole, no attempt to close them in, cover them or caulk them...and yes, mice from the basement came in through their incorrect holes. The bathroom heater was replaced, out of my pocket, not the company...so I guess the wonderful warranty and service that were promised are a joke..My advice, re-evaluate the business and make the necessary changes before you burn down or blow up someones home, or worse yet having someone be overcome with gas while sleeping. not even attempting to have them try again for the fourth time. If you appreciate a business that tells you exactlty the opposite of what they really do.........And I am not going to waste the stamp and paper to send copies of the vet bills... when you have several gas leaks.....and you have children and grandchildren that come to my house,it is dangerous. but the almost fatal issue was the cats... but no one over there even has the human capabilty of saying I am sorry you are experiencing this. Nope, it was pass the buck... we must have bumped them or tried to move them and we caused the leak...Nothing to work with there now is there... when you hire inexperienced workers and do not properly train them or send them for training, it is clearly saying you do not care about the safety of your customer, but that you care only about how fat your wallet is... shame on you... no, I will not be notifying you of the problem.. cannot afford more lazy sloppy work that falls short of code. I will hire a company that does not lie cheat and try and pass the buck.. I am submitting this complaint to document serious issues with communication, reliability, and…read moreservice from Penny-wise Fuel Inc., located at 219 Shine Hill Rd, Henryville, PA 18332. I placed an order for heating oil with Penny-wise Fuel Inc. that has already been paid for through a government assistance program. Despite payment being issued, delivery was not completed. I was later informed that the driver could not make the delivery because my driveway was allegedly not cleared. This statement is inaccurate. The driveway was fully accessible, and no attempt was made to contact me at the time to address or resolve any concern. Since that missed delivery, my household has now been without heat for four days. During this time, I have repeatedly contacted Penny-wise Fuel Inc., explained the urgency of the situation, and made them aware that there are four young children living in the home. On multiple occasions, I was assured that delivery would occur "the next day." Despite these assurances, no delivery has been made, and there has been no proactive follow-up, no clear explanation, and no meaningful communication. At a minimum, I would expect timely and honest communication--especially when an essential service such as home heating is involved and payment has already been made. Instead, I have experienced broken promises, inaccurate claims, and inaction, which has caused significant stress and hardship for my household. I am requesting that this matter be addressed immediately, either by completing the prepaid delivery without further delay or by providing clear, honest communication regarding why the service cannot be fulfilled. I am submitting this complaint so that appropriate action can be taken and so others are aware of the service issues I have experienced.
