a person eating a bagel with whipped cream

it's bagels! I don't see anyone's problem with it. great texture, variety of flavors some of which are pretty unique and I havent seen elsewhere. the cream cheese is nice and smooth. it's all just right, great bagel flavor. generic muffins. it's good! they have maple bacon cream cheese for you goyim... enjoy!

Chicken salad on a cement bagel..

Never go to Feldmans at 1:45pm...where's the chicken? This may ruin chicken salad for me forever. Gross.

    To a crisp.

Good bagels...sandwiches. Cream cheese is really good, especially bacon horseradish...a little pricey...but solid.

Can't usually get very good bagels in Vermont, but Feldman's is an exception.

Ordered three sandwiches on afternoon of 4/6. Lettuce was browned, tomatoes were wrinkled and soft…read more(mushy), and turkey was thick-sliced and had an odd flavor. So overall, pretty disappointed with my first and last trip to this deli.

So I try to give an honest opinion of everything because as a consumer or customer I wish to help…read moreother consumers in their purchasing decisions. Yelp can be a breeding ground for people to leave negative reviews with snarky comments and I sometimes wonder what the underlying motivation could be for that (ie. Disgruntled employee, an overly biased person with a narrow minded or provincial way of thinking, a hypercritical Karen so to speak). You never know. I am unsure why this store has such negative reviews. I am fortunate enough that I live within walking distance from my home/apartment to this place. I typically use Instacart to buy my groceries and they don't allow alcohol delivery and I am someone that when I cook or dine, I must have a glass of wine. That's just the way it goes. Call me a wine snob or what not, but there is nothing better than a glass of Montepulciano or Sangiovese with a creamy penne a la vodka or a hearty Cabernet to cut through the grittiness of a steak or pair a jammy Pinot Noir with a juicy hamburger (yum). So, I walk to this location when I can, though I try not to spend exorbitant amounts of money. I tend to get lost in aisles of wine because I become entranced or captivated by all the different varietals and labels. The bottom shelves typically are home to lower cost wines. I don't wish to say "low end" making them seem poopy in any way because there are some good cheap wines out there. Shout out to Bogle wines. Their Petite Syrah and Merlot are sublime, but the higher cost or more "premium" wines are typically located on the top shelf. Hence top shelf liquor or drinks when you go out and order top shelf liquor, but I can't really say anything derogatory or mean about the place. I will say because I am a rather different townsfolk (proud Latina woman here) I am not sure how the other customers may feel when I enter the store. I try not to be loud or overly gregarious but I think I have gotten a few sideways glances here and there from a farmer or two lol but there is nothing like a smile and kindness to help turn someone's frown :( upside down ^_^ So I carry on my merry way with ipods blasting some good music (Tiny Moves or Modern Girl by Bleachers...good to go) so I can enjoy my wine perusing time. I enter a wine shop the same way I enter a bookstore, with excitement, intrigue, and delight. I must say that the way in which the store is organized is perfect. They even recently rearranged the store so that the checkout area is lower to the ground as it used to be in the middle of the store and raised. It looks very nice and professional, like a miniature boutique Total Wine store we had back in Miami, FL. The sales people I really have not had much trouble with. I talked to a nice guy named David who was cleaning the floor and another store clerk has showed me a picture of his Iguana. It's huge! I try to treat anyone working in customer service or hospitality with the utmost respect because it's hard. Believe me. People are irate, treat you like trash, don't smile, may glare at you to intimidate you, so I generally like to shoe respect to store clerks and cashiers and hey, I am open to learning about all sorts of things from all walks of life. The manager I have yet to meet. The people who operate the deli/cafe counter in the back-don't really engage with, but i think you can buy sandwiches and stuff like that. They do have a pretty hefty selection of other items, like water, beer, snacks, candy, and there is a whole other section off to the left side that houses like a ton of beer cases. I never really venture over to that side because I am not much of a beer drinker. I'll entertain a stout or porter or maybe a Blue Moon, but that's it. They also carry a lot of variety in terms of Tequila, Whiskey, Vodka, Bourbon, and Liquers. I do think that they're pricing is modest, not overly exaggerated. I find some good wines at a decent price. I do wish they carried more Moscatos though. Moscato is on the sweeter side of wines, but they're still good nonetheless. They do carry Sweet and Dry Riesling so that makes up for the lack of Moscato selections available. Overall, I gave five stars because it is a clean store, doesn't reek of cigarettes or vape smoke and the store clerks for the most part treat me decently. The customers are another story lol but again it's a small town and I am kind of like the new girl and that can be tough to welcome in new blood lol but I respect most townsfolk because this is their home. I am just glad I was able to find a place to go to grab a decent bottle of wine. If I wanted to splurge I could and they have a nice selection of wines ranging from Caymus, Hall Vineyards, Orin Swift, Rodney Strong, Chateau Montelana so whoever is curating the selection knows their stuff so kudos to them. If I could add an "applause" emoji I would, but overall I am satisfied with the service.

I'm skeptical when a restaurant self-identifies as a "gastropub". The term is overused to the point…read moreof cliche these days but in this case it seemed right. The food wasn't just the standard pub fare; everything we tried that day was excellent. I had fish tacos and French onion soup. Two flour tortillas, packed with fried haddock, coleslaw, and a spicy remoulade, served with lime wedges. The tortillas were toasted for extra flavor and held together well, easily holding the generous fish portions and wet coleslaw. The fish was fresh and the batter was light and crispy. Portion size was reasonable. The onion soup was outstanding. The broth was full-bodied and rich and seemed homemade, not from canned stock - though I can't say for sure. It was a bit salty like most, but the seasonings (I noted thyme and pepper) balanced it. The cheese on top (Swiss I think) was nicely browned, the onions sweet and caramelized, and there were plenty of toasted croutons made from a French baguette. Scallions on top added color, some crunch, and completed the dish. When I got the bill I was pleased to see the soup was only $3 not $8 as listed on the menu, because they treated it as a substitute for the fries normally served with the tacos. Which was fine as I didn't really need fries - and I had some of the wife's anyway, which were very good. The wife had The Clothier: a sandwich with marinated fried chicken, pepper jack cheese, candied jalapenos, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and house-made spicy ranch. Excellent. For a drink I had a Citizen's Cider on tap, one of my favorites. Beers on tap - of which there were many - and the cider are offered in 16 and 22 ounce sizes. The menu had lots of options. The expected pub standards and also some unusual items liked fried green beans, tomato artichoke bisque, and an extensive baked mac & cheese selection. The desserts included "Our Famous Twiggie", a cookie (choose from 3) topped with ice cream, two kinds of syrup, and whipped cream. The cookie is baked to order and takes 15 minutes! The interior looked really nice, but the day was so pleasant we sat outside on the street-front patio, across from the St. Albans city park. It was so pretty with the bountiful floral arrangements in the park and on the sidewalks. I know it's not the restaurant's doing, but it really contributed to the ambience. Some other points to mention: The inside walls are covered with a rotating selection of local art, with the featured artist changing periodically. I don't know if the art is for sale or for display only. And the events calendar listed "Wine Wednesday" throughout August and September: 1/2 price bottles of wine. That's an event I would support!

They said it depends on the song. I asked to be seated in the main room and the hostess told us that when something opens up she's would let us know so we could move but she never returned. When we left there were plenty of seats available in the front. We certainly would have stayed and had more drinks after our meal to enjoy the music. On to the food. We basically all ordered the same thing in a different form! Haha! It was the Vermonter where you got your main dish with sautéed apples and maple bacon jam. We got the Mac and cheese, the wrap, and a burger on a gluten free bun. We were impressed with their gluten free options and the bun was so good, my daughter was nervous it was not gluten free! It was! And she felt great afterwards. All the food was good, the drinks we had were good, and the service was good. The place was cute and looked like a lot of fun if you were in the front room!
