Just continued gossiping with her co worker. Finally, she asked what we were there for. Told her we had appt for bone scan to which she said to have a seat. After 15 minutes or so of listening and watching Mexican TV,,,she tells my wife they will not do it unless we are a patient of theirs. Geesh....Why did they not tell us this when we called and made the appt or right off when we arrived. To busy BSing with co workers I guess. Hope the actual Dr is better than the staff! Not happy. I had a telehealth visit with my PA Edgar Garcia on Friday regarding blood work. He was…read moresending my prescription into my regular pharmacy however I told him they were closed over the weekend. He informed me I needed the medicine before then and what other pharmacy I would like. I told him Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. i hadn't heard anything else from Mr. Garcia or the pharmacy. On Saturday I called the pharmacy to see if the prescription was ready. The pharmacist proceeded to tell me that he tried calling the doctors office because the prescroption is not covered by my insurance. The out of pocket cost was going to be over 500 dollars. He said if we could call the office as well to help out. Well it's a Saturday and they aren't open so I had to call the answering service. In this case they only send the messages through to the on call doctors if it's a life or death situation or what they consider a medical emergency. Well my case is a medical emergency since my potassium is at a 6 and it needed to be lowered. The answering service sent my message through to the on call doctor, which was supposed to be that I needed a cheaper medication that the insurance would cover. Later on I received a message from the on call doctor which i am assuming was PA Adam Ortega wanting me to review the medication. The medication was the same one that had been sent and it was sent to the pharmacy that was closed for the weekend. In other words he didn't even open or read my chart. I then called back to the answering service and left them another message that I needed a cheaper medicine than what is listed and it was to be sent to the Walmart Pharmacy in Edinburg off of 281. The answering service guy said he would send it through and said if the doctor feels this is an emergency he will contact you back. Well I never received a call back or a message back from PA Adam Ortega. It's now Sunday morning and I am without the medication I was needing to lower my potassium since Friday and before Monday. I am going to have to go to Walmart and purchase this medication that is over 500 dollars out of pocket because someone isn't doing their job by reading the chart correctly or by picking up the phone and calling the patient directly. I've always been happy with VMAC and PA Edgar Garcia however, not this time with PA Adam Ortega.

The receptionist is just awful, rude, and unprofessional!…read more I have an issue that she refers to the staff assisting the doctor as "nurses" when in reality they are not nurses. Dr Maynard and the office manager/receptionist refers to them as "nurses" even though they haven't attended any nursing school and don't have an active nursing license in the state of Texas. I called several times with medical questions and the receptionist/office manager told me that she would have one of the "nurses" call me back. Dr Maynard DOES NOT have any nurses. Mary might be a medical assistants, nurse aid, or perhaps she's just a woman trained to assist Dr Maynard, but she is NOT A NURSE and Dr Maynard SHOULDN'T refer to her as "nurse". According to the Texas Board of Nursing, IT IS ILLEGAL You might not know it but impersonating a nurse is a crime. And even though a medical assistant may believe what they are doing is innocent, in reality it is a crime. What they are actually doing is misrepresenting themselves and leading people to believe that they have a greater level of education and qualification than they have. Just like a physician held legally responsible for practicing medicine without a license, medical assistants that call themselves nurses can be held legally responsible for practicing nursing without a license. It can either be considered misdemeanor or felony. Practicing nursing without a license is always a criminal act which is punishable by the sentencing rules of the appropriate statute. For example,California part of the nurse practice acts states that a person cannot let someone assume they are a nurse, much less call themselves one: "In the interest of public safety and consumer awareness, it shall be unlawful for any person to use the title "nurse" by any individual except for an individual who is registered nurse or a licensed vocational nurse. This law does not prohibit certified nurses' aides from using their specific title." Communicating with a medical assistant clearly and assertively that it is not okay that they call themselves a nurse is not only recommended, but required. Not doing so could put patients in danger. If the medical assistant continues to call him/herself a nurse after being told it is inappropriate the Texas state board of nursing needs to be notified so they can be held legally accountable for claiming a license and title they do not have.

Dr. Bradley is the kind of doctor who has been doing this long enough to know what to look for…read more He's been the family doctor since I was 10. Now I am 32, so that should tell you his level of experience. He is the go to doctor for regular check ups and can help you determine what is wrong if you are unsure I like that he doesn't sugar coat you or circumvent what he has to say so as not to hurt your feelings. He is the kind of doctor that will tell you how it is. However, that doesn't mean he's rude. He's the nicest Dr. I've had. That goes the same for his staff. Lisa, the nurse who is also the lady behind the clerk desk, is one of the nicest nurses there is. She goes above and beyond doing the work of three offices staff members herself. High compliments go to Lisa for being there and helping the Dr. In every imaginable way.
