This is my experience with Felix. Judge for yourself if he deserved a rating of 5 or not. Or if deserves a 6 (?) FIRST OF ALL: When I found his existing Yelp page and saw there was ONLY 5-star reviews, I was suspicious. One time I rented an AirBnb and after the rental was over the scam was "I'll give you a discount for a 5-star review". Was this the case with Felix Backflow? ANSWER: not at all. SECOND: My purpose in getting my irrigation backflow device tested is that I had ASSUMED that the device doubled as a pressure reducer. By email, when making my appointment, Felix advised that no, backflow only does backflow prevention. Just now he told me in person "there might be a 10% reduction in pressure as it goes through the passages, but it's not designed to reduce pressure". THIRD: He arrived on time, and on a Saturday afternoon (his preference, I think because he had a nearby appointment earlier anyway). He had previously advised me by email that a backflow test was $65.00 and a rubber kit installation was $230, if repair is needed. FOURTH: He tested my backflow. He said it functioning normally. He answered my questions about irrigation pressure and gave me some reasonable advice. FIFTH: I asked him as he picked up his toolbox and work order clipboard, "how can I pay you? Do you take check?" HIS ANSWER: "Oh, no charge. I was in the area anyway. If you want to, just put your experience online... what is that site? I can never remember..." (It was YELP!) He shook my hand and I said I felt like hugging him! (No hug actually took place). So there you go... THIS WAS UNBELIEVABLE! He made a housecall, tested my backflow, and DID NOT CHARGE me! Of course he'll probably charge you... and I am not sure why he didn't charge me... but he didn't. So now I have my opinion of Felix BackfloW Prevention. Received an "Annual Backflow Assembly Test Report Due" letter in the mail. After confirming this is a real thing and not some scam, I looked at the sandiego.gov list of backflow test providers and crosschecked some company names with Yelp. Felix was the third place that I contacted and the only one who responded. I received a notice from the Otay Water District informing me I had to show my backflow equipment was up to standards. I went to Yelp, found Felix and that evening he came to my home and performed the test. Felix was very professional and took the time to explain to me the process. He did not try to sell me on any unnecessary parts or repairs and let me know this test woudld be required again in a year and that he would put a trace on his calendar to remind me. I would give 10 stars if I could. Felix is great. Simply great. A couple weeks ago our backflow device had really bad leaking issue. It was Fri around 4pm by the time we noticed it. Me and my husband both got on our phones calling numerous backflow companies but no one could come out the same day till we got in touch with Felix. He was able to come within an hour with all the tools needed. He found the issue and fixed it. He was very knowledgeable and his price was reasonable. Typically the requests we have for him are extremely last minute and he always makes us a priority and gets the job done within difficult time constraints. His work is flawless, he has contacts with the Otay Water District which is extremely helpful for our specific situations. He complete rebuilt an old rusted assembly on a building we purchased in record time. He sent us photos of the work along the way and our Commercial Contractor stated that his work was impeccable. We put out an RFP with pictures of the exposed pipe area and within an hour we received a very reasonable estimate. Being that this valve is a city requirement, we were pressed to have it installed within a month. We called Felix and asked if he could get it done within a week and he said, "I can be there today or tomorrow." We scheduled for the next day. Felix and Mike arrived within 30 minutes of the designated time. He then explained the low-theft benefits of the valve model that he installs, and how the valve actually works. Meanwhile, Mike set up their equipment. When the install was complete, Felix explained his pipe reinforcement technique which doesn't require concrete of the subterranean 90 degree pipes. There was no mess left behind. The whole job took less than 3 hours and the water was off for only a short time. Felix took pictures and submitted them with the paperwork to the city. Before he even left, the invoice was in our email. Felix and Mike were polite, organized, neat, quiet and quick. GREAT JOB!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Our local backflow tester said we had failed our backflow and I asked the local backflow to retest it; they refused and the only option they gave us was to repair the backflow device.
