The "school" is basically a website and a guy, answering the phone (occasionally)…read more It's not a gym-type place, where you can see what you are paying for. There's no reception area, you can easy walk through the locker room straight to the pool and spit in it, if you want - no one's gonna meet you on your way, even if it's your first day. Probably that's why you'll be basically forced to pay for the full course prior to even discussing anything - while filling up the form on a website you have to enter your credit card information, you can not skip it. *The price is shown for 9 lessons, but you have to pay for 10. Why not show the full price? To make the amount look more appealing? As I said, there's no staff to meet you on your first day, there no staff to even answer the phone!!! You won't hear "Hello, this is SeaOtterSwimSchool, how may I help you?", cause that's just someone's cell you are calling on. There's a high probability of not hearing anything at all for the same reason - no one picks up, even if you call many times at working hours. You might hear an answering machine, telling you about classes in January - very up to date. The class does not start on time - it might not start even after being 30 minutes late. In summary, for many reasons like the last one this school is not for adults, cause the approach is not serious at all.

Past employee that has worked with this company multiple times for over 6.5 years and a total of 12…read moreYears in the Aquatic Industry training with several Lifesaving Society Trainers. The Pros: -The Director has really stepped back in overall Management and mellowed out a bit since I've known him to the benefit of the company. -The Recruitment Bonus program is great to bring your friends on. They don't need to be qualified & you get monetary compensation. -They provide the best outcome for kids, simply because their grading standards require more to pass. Creating stronger swimmers than the City and most other programs I've experienced. The Cons: -Jack of Sports is the least educated "Swim School" I've seen in the sense of most of the staff are not certified to teach swimming lessons nor have much if any first aid training. Management more commonly obtain even fewer qualifications in the courses that they oversee causing a noticeable disconnect. -I vehemently suggest to parents to check if your child's lifeguard is certified, Jack of Sports' Upper Management does not do an appropriate job of keeping track of staff certifications. They are unaware when or if staff are expired or need to renew. I have personally worked shifts here, with no certified Lifeguard on deck. -Management Organization needs improvement, this deeply ties into having too many uncertified and untrained Managers in the field they are overseeing. Their approach to bringing on new staff with little training themselves leads to poor hires. This extends into the classroom space where poor teaching styles lead to multiple required make up classes for students who fail. It was also reported to me that a JoS lifeguard used a Lysol wipe to clean a kids wound. It wouldn't be documented though, as I have not seen this company use an Incident report once. I hope the child is okay. -They often attempt to remove or cover up negative reviews about them from platforms like Google. When with them, I encouraged them to change the opinion of the reviews by showing quality service. Finding Google New Articles about their conduct is especially troubling. In my opinion, Jack of Sports could be the next "Toronto Lifeguarding"

We have done swimming lessons with JofS with zero issue, but when my daughter wanted to move on to…read moredo her lifeguarding we had a horrible customer service interaction. We signed up for the course and I made an error. I fully admit is was error. She did not have the correct First Aid course. I did have to enter all of her certifications for sign up and did list the first aid course, but when signing up and before the course started. I made the error and they didn't catch it. Either way my daughter was sent home, BUT when I asked about a refund I was told I was out of luck. For the $500 course I could only get $250 back. I didn't cancel at the last minute or any other disrespectful method. I was very apologetic and explained how I wanted to try to get her into another course as soon as possible - doing it with them would mean not until the end of the summer. Either way I was dismissed. The entire experience rubbed me the wrong way. They were so indifferent.

She is kind, patient and great with kids! She cares about their development and ensured that they were learning good swimming techniques. This was the best money I spent this summer and can't wait to rebook again for next summer!

I've been training with Albert Phan for a year and a half now, and to say it has been life changing…read moremay sound trite or hyperbolic but is true. When I first started working with Albert, I noticed he was different from other typical trainers: - He is extremely knowledgeableable and analytical. He really listens and watches, figuring out how I move and where my biggest needs are. Albert reminds me of a physiotherapist who is attuned to not just how to build muscle, but also how muscles should move and fire. And for someone who hasn't really gone to the gym before, had constant back pains and a disproportionate body, this is key. - He isn't just going through the motions. Albert clearly puts a lot of thought and work into the customized plans he develops. He also created spreadsheets and trackers that not only provide me with my entire training plan, but also laid out my targets. For someone who likes to assess and see progress-to-goals, this is great. - He is holistic in his approach. Albert doesn't just focus on the muscle building aspect of training, but also on the importance of nutrition and sleep. He developed a nutrition plan for me and is constantly holding me accountable to it. Over the last year and a half of working with Albert, the changes have truly been significant: - I feel better. I'm stronger and move better, with years-long backpains gone. The routine and discipline have also helped me focus-in other aspects of my life. - I look better. I obviously could see the fat loss and muscle development as I was training with Albert. But a year in, many people around me have as well. In my recent visit home, everyone I met commented on how great I looked and asked me what my 'secret' was. - I am better. Every since I was a teenager, I'd get regular blood tests to monitor different aspects of my health. Even as recently as last year, my doctors were worried about my blood pressure and fatty liver, to the point that I was going to be put on meds. But because of the holistic plan Albert developed and the work we've put in, my blood pressure is great and I don't have a fatty liver anymore. I don't have to go on meds anymore, and my doctors are really happy and have encouraged me to continue doing what I'm doing. Albert obviously takes pride in what he does, exuding a professionalism I rarely see in trainers. He clearly views this as a craft and a calling, and I am better for it. I highly recommend Albert.

The girl with the curly hair must've taken this personally because she had a terrible attitude and was super dismissive of what I said. I'm sorry, how is this inconvenience for ME inconveniencing YOU? Reviewing the other feedback tells me that POC are going to encounter some sort of attitude at this location. Also this place smells nasty. The paper towel/cleaning solution is empty in most areas. The women's change room is gross as well and smells weird but that wont stop multiple women from sitting down on the benches fully naked. I don't even wanna know what the sauna is like, yuck. Also RUDE. Also the layout is unnecessarily awkward with rowing machines randomly in high traffic hallways. And I can still smell the BO funk on my coat after being there for only 1 hr. Hone fitness is up the street maybe you'll have better luck there.
