You left so many times, had plywood trying to block the entrance for a week because your person making the skeleton gate apparently couldn't work. You had two ex-cons sitting around doing nothing while you were gone. You then fired them because they didn't know anything. Then, as luck would have it, you finally finished weeks past the original date, yet the gate wasn't fit properly and had to come back. Your shitty attitude for asking you to fix the noisy gate you just charged us for was really a nice touch. And yes, you asked for cash the DAY you came to collect. The IRS has you on their radar. Great guy, great fence. Quality work. I will say there are a few errors but it's not a big deal. I've been reading a lot of reviews on people slamming him do some mistakes. It's a wood fence. Even if it's built 100% perfectly it won't stay 100% perfect. Changes in the earth and wood play a huge factor. The fact is he builds great long lasting fences, and if you knew anything about fences you should build it yourself if you are going to complain about little mistakes. He really does quality work. My only real criticism would be the original quote. (Which really was my mistake for not clarifying) but I didn't realize the gates and the actual fence were separated on the quote. I wish there would have been a total at the bottom. So it ended up being a little more than I thought. BUT like I said that was my fault for not clarifying, and I most likely would have had him do the fence anyway because I didn't wanna do it. Also if you are in a rush then don't hire ANY contractor. They have a lot of clients they are working for at once. This is how it works. You MUST have patience. All in all it was a great experience with Fence King, he really does quality work. We hired Kirk / Fence Kings to build a fence around a rental property we had just bought. He was very helpful in assisting us with the design - what type of fence, and where to put it (as we weren't replacing an existing one). We needed to enclose the backyard of the home quickly because our tenant was moving in and had dogs - he worked some crazy hours to get it done before the deadline we had agreed to with our tenant. Once we finished the urgent portion of the project, we told Kirk he could finish the remaining portions of the project when it was convenient for him. He still wrapped up pretty quickly, even without a deadline. Then he built a feature design fence at our new restaurant location. Both fences are holding up perfectly, and we're really happy with the quality. He knows what he's doing, and doesn't skimp on any aspect. Kirk was awesome to work with and kept his word at every turn. We're going to hire him again to do some more cool, reclaimed-wood feature pieces at our restaurant. Update on post. We used them for our new home too. It was right after the crazy wind storms and all sides of our fence were damaged in different areas so it was time to replace them,and because we were returning customers he squeezed us in. Thank goodness because they, just like other companies were booked out for a few months. He had a couple new guys working with him that he was training and he told us about it at the beginning. We were ok with it. All nice guys again. They were hard workers and not only did he take time to show them how to be good at their jobs,you could hear him giving the young guys lessons on work ethic and why workmanship is so important. It was nice to see good work and craftsmen ship and customer service still taught. The fences are still the strongest built you will find and they are BEAUTIFUL. Our neighbors used companies for their other connecting fences and the work already in a months time does not look as great as ours do. You get what you pay for. I wish I could write a better review but after waiting and waiting almost 3 months I have no fence! I'm sure the work would have been great but I cannot live longer without any fence and nowhere for my dogs to run around freely and no security at all! There are nights I have to be alone with the kids as my husbands job takes him away unexpectedly and having no fence is a security issue! We have to store all of our outside furniture or anything out there away so no one steals anything, especially if we are gone for the weekend! So I'm sorry for this review but I am only being honest! He's a nice person and I wish the job just had gotten done in the time he said it would and I could have left a better review! He is a RUDE person, without good treatment to clients. He gave me the impression that I didn't interest him in the job and he just hung up.

The owner of Fence King lived down the street from me about 10-15 years ago, although I didn't know him, and just saw him driving in and out of the neighborhood. One day we had a mega windstorm and my fences were blown down on two of the three sides. I reached out to Kirk and he agreed to build new fences for me. Now, more than TEN YEARS later, the fences are still PERFECT. The gate functions perfectly too. At the time it was being constructed, I was somewhat blown away by the improved overall quality when compared to the original fence. Now ten years later, I am even MORE impressed. I am now planning on having Kirk build a fence and gate on a rental property in another town. Costs have escalated dramatically in the past ten years (materials costs have skyrocketed especially since we had so much wood destroyed in our fires), and chances are Kirk's estimate will be higher than just about anybody else around. But quality costs. I had another company build part of a fence there less than a year ago, and it literally fell down just a week later! They came back and patched it up, but it was quite telling to see the different standards that one can find in the fence-building trade. I would never use those other guys again. Thankfully Kirk is willing to travel some distance to work, something I wasn't aware of when I contracted with those other guys. There are probably many other outfits that will build a fence for a lower cost, but I'm convinced nobody can build one with higher quality. The fact that I will have to wait at least three months before he can get to my project speaks for itself. People are lined up waiting for him to build fences for them. Kirk is also very overtly patriotic and supportive of the military, law enforcement, and traditional American values and hard work ethic. He literally flies the US flag from his classic Chevy trucks while he builds your fence. It's nice to work with somebody who takes so much pride in doing the best job possible, and celebrates the opportunities he has because he is fortunate enough to be a citizen of this country. Respect his craftsmanship, write the big check (currently $50 per foot) and you will be rewarded with a fence that will still be standing tall and proud long after you are gone! Frankly I am surprised at the negative reviews I have read here. The only thing I can think of is that I'm a nice person who treats people who are working for me with respect, so our rapport was terrific. I can imagine that a customer who treats working people badly might not have such a great relationship with somebody who takes justifiable pride in his craft. So take those one-star reviews with a hefty grain of salt.... read more

I won't use this company for the pure fact the man I spoke with, who sounded a little older in age, was straight up RUDE! I greeted him and asked if they provide free estimates. He said "well they're free for YOU!" I was a little taken back and said, "I'm sorry, what?" And he proceeded to tell me that "free estimates are great and all for you but they cost me time and money, besides, I'm booked out till may 2." Kirk never showed up nor did he call to offer a reason why he did not/could not make it out for the estimate. These guys are very expensive and they totally ripped off my neighbor and I. They charged us for new material and labor, and then they used the existing fence boards and the workers looked like a bunch of drug addicts. They didn't let us know when they were coming and actually trespassed onto our property and put our dog on our side yard where there was fertilizer an chemicals. And to top it all off, the so called "new fence" is flimsier than the old fence. Not to mention the fact that they left trash that was not even ours in the first place. I had used Fence King several years ago for a common fence with my neighbor. I had no complaints and felt the job was take care of extremely well (that's why 2 stars). Well several years have certainly changed this company's work. I hired them to rebuild a gate and from the moment my old fence was torn down the problems started. Fights with my neighbors (yelling and screaming) and demeaning his own workers (it was honestly very painful to listen to). Because of the fights with my neighbors I had to be at home per "the King's insistence". The fence wasn't put up the way I requested and yes, its ok but nothing like I was promised. Delays finishing the work (which I had to keep calling about) and when I questioned the short gate, the uneven lock placement, refinishing the boards on my neighbor's side, and requested that these items be taken care of this owner came and tried to start a fight with me yelling and screaming in the driveway. He continued to yell while doing a crappy job of covering up his mistakes and refused to complete the painting of the fence on my neighbor's side. Before he left he reminded me that the gate/fence had a lifetime warranty. Really? You really think I would call him back? But maybe that's why he started so many arguments so he wouldn't have to come back-great tactic. Perhaps the Fence King needs to be dethroned as I would never recommend him to anyone. read more

Kirk's company came out and gave me a very competitively priced bid, and above all - he used metal posts ONLY along with metal frames for all gates. We had him put in two regular gates and ~18' of fencing along with a large RV/dual gate. Quality materials, workmanship, reasonable price, and it's a beautiful Fence too! We had Kirk come out 4-5years ago to build one side of our fence and build a new gate. He did such an amazing job, the metal framed redwood gate is still beautiful and sturdy, and still works well, that when our back Fence (original Fence with old wooden posts) blew down in the last big storm, we knew who we wanted to build the Fence. If our back neighbor agreed, we were going with Fence King. Our neighbor had part of her Fence built a few years back by Kirk too, so we both agreed. We wanted a quality, strong Fence that can withstand our windy days and nights. That meant the Fence King! He uses steel posts and high quality cement, quality redwood boards. I'm perplexed by the 1 star reviews, I did not experience anything that was described. I experienced prompt response to calls and questions and always polite. No trash was left, in fact, i think he may have picked up some of our trash before he left. Thank you! The price was very fair and not overpriced by any stretch. If you want quality, hire Fence King. He did a great job for my rental in Vacaville. My tenant a engineer was very impressed in the workmanship of the posts installed. I had a new entry door and the door installer,after examining the fence, thought and liked the metal backing on the fence gates. He does work, that is meant to last. Fence King is definitely the best! My neighbor did the research and found Fence King to help us with our needs. He was extremely professional and kept us up to date with what was going on with the fence. It took longer than I anticipated and he wasn't the cheapest, but quick and cheap is not what you want when you're making an investment to your home. I am so happy with the way the fence turned out. My friends and family that have seen it so far are also extremely impressed. I will definitely recommend him to anyone I know needing help with a fence and will use him again when I need to update the other side of my house. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! I contacted the company to repair my gate on a fence they built several years ago and an older gentleman Ty never showed to fix my gate until THREE MONTHS LATER out of the blue.! He did fix it though, now months later it needs to be fixed again said he would be out the next day to fix and never showed..he finally came the next week to look at it and give estimate for another fence said someone would be out this week. Now it is Friday and no one has came this week (not surprising) so I called the older gentleman asking him what was going on and he proceeded to call me a "squeaky wheel" and that he was okay with that. I don't know about you but I don't appreciate being patronized even if you are my elder, he really gave me a vibe as if i was bothering him or had called him before complaining about him not showing up on time. Now it's the next week when he said someone would definitely be out to finally fix my gate and he's not even answering my calls and his mailbox is full so I can't even leave a voice-mail i'm beyond upset at Ty and am not even going to contact this company anymore about my fence even though there is supposed to be a lifetime guarentee. Moral of the story is this company is EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE..you should go with someone who will appreciate your business and not be rude to you i really think he spoke to me the way he did because I am female and probably fifty years younger but respect is respect you give some you get some. read more

My neighbor hired this company to build a fence between our properties which I was to pay for as well. (secondary customer). While they were working the owner of the company walked into my yard and stole a pressure treated 2x4 which I had leaning against a tree. I don't find that very professional! I also had to purchase two more board to make the fence look finished from my side. read more
