Feng Cha is definitely my new favorite boba place! I heard great things about this place from my friends so naturally, I had to go. My friend came with me because she saw a picture of the little cow cake and wanted to try it. Unfortunately, they were sold out within an hour of posting it. My friend was really disappointed until this really nice worker gave my friend a slice while we were waiting for our drinks. This was extremely nice of her to do for us and just shows how above and beyond the service at this place is. (NOTE: If you want some cake, call ahead and reserve it). This place offers discounts to students which is great! They offer you samples of their milk foams, which was a huge help since I was initially indecisive about which flavors to try out. The matcha milk foam is my favorite but I may be biased since I love all things matcha flavored. I've gotten the jasmine green tea with matcha milk foam both with 50% sugar. The 50% sugar here was great because unlike other places where I've gotten 50% sugar, it did not taste bland at all. The service is pretty good, its different than most bubble tea places in that the servers actually take your drink to you and they actually offer bags and drink holders for take out orders that you can grab next to the counter. With all the boba spots popping up around Dallas, it takes a lot to stand out. And I gotta say, Feng Cha does a pretty good job of it! The interior is more like a coffee shop than a bubble tea shop- it's spacious, cozy and actually quite quiet at well. With the comfy chairs and couches and soft music playing in the back, I can definitely picture this place being a great study spot (it's close to UTD too!) Their menu is very small- they don't offer a wide selection of drinks like Kung Fu Tea or Sharetea. But all their drinks are so unique. They seem to have a lot of fruit teas and plain teas with milk foam. I only saw one milk tea choice on there. I went with the lightly roasted oolong tea with a matcha milk foam at 30% sugar and no ice. And my friend went with the summer melon fruit tea with boba at 70% sugar and light ice. My only complaints was that 1) the cashier had to ask his coworker a lot of questions (like if they could make my drink at no ice or what kind of cheese the cheese milk foam is made of). I feel like as a cashier, you should know the menu a little better. And 2) the drinks took way too long. There were only two people in front of us, yet we waited for 20 minutes to get our drinks. I can't even imagine how long the wait would be if it got crowded. They do, however, bring the drinks out to you, which is great, but it does take longer to get your drinks. I think I may just get the regular milk foam next time. The matcha milk foam was delicious but it overpowered my drink and I could barely taste the oolong tea anymore. It was also still too sweet for me, even at 30% sugar. I'm not sure if they messed up or if it's just really sweet, but I'm definitely going for 0% sugar next time. As for the summer melon tea... it was definitely different. I don't think I'd ever order it myself. There were bits of watermelon in it which required you to chew the watermelon as you drink- not a fan of that. The boba was good though- a little too sweet for my liking, but it was fresh and chewy! I also love, love, love their cups. It's made of a hard plastic and instead of a plastic seal on top, they cap it and it even comes with a little heart to cover the sipping opening. Don't know if this is weird or not, but I'm washing the cup and keeping it after I finish my drink. Honest opinion- not your traditional boba place, they really don't offer much except the fruit teas and the plain teas with milk foam. I do like that they use real fruit in their fruit teas though. Also, the drinks took too long to come out- maybe give them a couple months and it'll be faster- who knows. Definitely worth the try though and definitely a great place to study or hang out! EDIT: Went here at 9 PM on a weekday with a couple friends and we ended up waiting for 30 minutes for our drinks. There wasn't even anyone in front of us when we were in line, but I guess the people seated hadn't gotten their drinks yet. But 30 minutes?! And only maybe 6 drinks came out... Definitely do expect to wait a while for your drink if there's people ahead of you. I also got the same drink I got before, except at 0% sugar and enjoyed it lot more because the matcha foam is pretty sweet and ends up sweetening the tea. On grand opening week the owner gave my friend and I a free cow roll cake on the house for us to try (it was delicious and very adorable btw lol.) On another occasion I came while it was pouring rain outside and the staff noticed I didn't have an umbrella, so they kindly offered me one. Super generous. And then the drinks are great! I came here with my friends because I heard of the infamous cheese foam and I wanted to give it a try. I'm a big sucker for good tea, and this place definitely did not disappoint in that aspect! Their selection of tea leaves that they use to brew their tea are pretty unique in terms of other boba places. I really liked their rose tea, and it's awesome that they're one of the few places in Dallas that actually focus on the tea aspect of boba. Their interior is so sleek and cute, all the way down to the cups they serve! I think that it's definitely new and different from the typical plastic lids you break through with your boba straw. The workers were really nice, and helped through our selection when ordering drinks. I ordered the summer melon tea, which I absolutely hated. I was expecting something sweet or special, but all it seemed to be was watermelon chunks in water. It was really disappointing, especially for the price. My friends each ordered something different, varying from the rose tea to peach teas topped with different kinds of foams. I did not like the foams at all, especially the cheese foam. I felt that they took away a lot of the spotlight from the actual tea themselves, which was delicious, and tasting it each time made me feel like it curdled in my stomach. First off I have to give a shout out to a very sweet employee named Kenneth that made my and a couple of my friends' first experience and impression here a great one! I walk in and was greeted with a very energetic welcome by the staff especially Kenneth. Kenneth gave us the entire run down of the menu, how to order, and what he reccomends. I can't drink milk so I opted to try a tea. Kenneth let me open up the tea containers to let me smell the tea which helped me choose which one I wanted to try. I got the peach oolong tea and it was pretty good! The cups here are pretty big and super cute. I tried to keep my and my friend's cup so I could reuse them! Before we paid, I was going to use my 10 percent off yelp check in deal but before I could even ask, Kenneth asked us if we were students (which I am) and gave us the 10 percent off for being students! So nice of him to do that and ask us too. I sat down and soon my order came out. After about 20 min of sitting and chatting with friends, Kenneth came up to us and gave us a free sample of some of the new bakery items that were going to come. He explain to us what he was giving us and even how it looked (it was supposed to look like a flower but was split apart so we could all try). The bread he gave us had cream cheese, red bean, and something else but it was actually pretty good! I think service here is like a 6 out of 5 but drink wise, i would give it a 3.5 to 4 out of 5 just because I am the type that likes super sweet stuff and like to get smoothies rather than teas and the drinks here aren't like that (which is a good thing since sugar isn't good for you and people who don't like overly sweet drinks will really appreicate this place). My friend got this watermelon drink which I thought tasted like a slightly sour watermelon juice. It wasn't bad but not my preference. My friend got this milk foam matcha drink which she said was amazing and another friend got a citrus drink with oranges in it that he said was good. Simple and clean interior. I ordered the lightly roasted oolong tea with half sweetness which was $3.25 after tax. It seemed like the shop was a little busier than it could handle because it took about 15 min from the time I placed my order to when I got it, but the staff was very courteous and apologized for the wait. This review would have been 5 stars if not for the long wait. The drink came in a sturdy reusable plastic cup and it had a full fabric tea bag about the size of a child's fist steeping inside. The fabric tea bag was a nice touch which adds a high-quality feeling to the tea. The tea itself had a full flavor, and since each order has its own bag, it's steeped fresh to order and then poured over ice, resulting in a nice ice-to-drink ratio unlike other shops that pre-brew their tea, chill it, and then pour it over a cup full of ice. This place serves fresh tea! I purchased a seasonal one - the dragonfruit tea and it was so good! My friend usually doesn't like eating dragonfruit but she enjoyed the drink. We received a complimentary egg tart (which occurs in a rare occasion) and it was 1/5 sweetness level. I prefer 2/5 sweetness level and my Korean friend enjoyed it! They have lots of seating areas so it's a good place for students to come and study. For those who prefer American sweetness level, I suggest asking them to add more sugar. I would love to revisit to try their other seasonal drinks! They offer teas with milk foam, taro foam, sea salt foam and one more (sorry, I can't remember ). With all these new boba franchises popping up, it's hard to keep track of all of them. I had a really great experience at Feng Cha! It's small and has more of a coffee shop vibe (although I personally wouldn't want to study here bc all except one table are pretty low). After getting our drinks, the owner (I believe) apologized for the wait since one of the employees called in sick. They ran out of the pearls and I was apologized to (since I was the only one in my party to not have any since I was the last one to order). When she came back with the refund receipt, she also gave me a egg tart as an apology! As for the drinks, I believe I actually got the wrong drink since my black tea looked more like green tea but I still liked it! I tried some of my friend's drink and I liked the milk tea and the jasmine green tea! The pearls in theirs was nice. The strawberry castle I order was good. I think they should get a better container for it, but the presentation was nice. The yogurt on the bottom is tart. Everyone really liked the prices of the drinks especially compared to everywhere else. The parking lot is huge. Wow!!! There's actually one here... I've been to the one in Toronto and loved it. I'm so glad there's one here near by. As you walk into the tea house the de it is very modern, nice and clean. There's many different specials but I one special that caught my eyes was the durian milk foam. Durian milk foam I never had and that was a must try. I went to the counter and ask them about it and he actually handed me a sample of the foam. Wow!!! I am a huge fan of durian and I actually like the taste of it. So I placed an order for a durian milk foam jasmine tea and a white chocolate taro cake. The drink was actually very refreshing with a hint of sweetness, not too sweet and not too bitter... just perfect. I love the way they package their drinks, the cup was very durable and love the way it looks. The white chocolate taro cake was so moist with a chuck of taro on top. The quality if the drinks is phenomenal- especially the citrus ones (I highly recommend the kiwi basil)! Also, if you bring your cup back they will fill it up, which is a good option to make getting tea more sustainable/ eco-friendly. However, the environment is not super great for studying because the seats are not very comfortable and everything inside is kind of gray. My current favorite place for boba in DFW right now. The cafe is really cute and lets in a lot of natural light. It seems like a great place to read, study, or meet up with friends as there is quite a bit of space with plenty of seating and tables. Feng Cha has some of the most unique boba drinks in DFW that I've seen so far, and a variety of milk foam caps you can add on (taro, cheese foam, sea salt, matcha, etc), so Feng Cha gets major points for that! You can also adjust the sweetness of your drink here, which is a must for me in a boba shop. I enjoyed my rose oolong with the addition of matcha milk foam (70% sweet). This combo went pretty well together and I thought the matcha tasted pretty good. I tried it with taro milk foam once as well and this was not my favorite combination. I thought the taro was on the sweeter side, which was a negative for me. I've also tried the dirty boba (70% sweet), which was pretty delicious at first. It has cheese milk foam and brown sugar on top. After a while though I realized I couldn't finish it. It is super rich, creamy, and sweet. If you want something more decadent, this might be the drink for you! We also tried the afternoon tea matcha cake. Unfortunately, it was just alright. It looked very pretty though. It was disappointing that the matcha milk foam was just thrown over some basic pound cake. I think it would be a hit if they introduced the first Japanese souffle pancakes in DFW and then they can throw the milk foam over that. It seems like that's getting pretty popular right now. Overall, I can't wait to try more drinks and milk foam combinations! There is also a Feng Cha in Carrollton now, which is closer to me! YAY!
